Dr. Dennis Diemer borders on being retarded. When they were formerly Paul Veterinary Clinic on Lincoln Highway, I brought the cat belonging to my late father in due to a heart condition. Dennis Diemer prescribed a human nuclear medicine for the condition, and listed the dosage as "one half pill per day." Apparently, poor old Dennis missed math a lot in third grade or so. After administering the first half pill to the cat, he went into made seizures and was dead within 24 hours. Pulling the paper loaded with fine print out of the box which this outrageously expensive bottle of pills had been packaged in, I finally got to the part that said- "DOSAGE: For a 150 lb. adult, administer no more than one (1) pill every 24 hours." (Hello? This was a 7-lb cat, not a 75 lb mountain lion you idiot!) When I got ahold of Dr. Diemer on the phone as he was headed to the country club the next day, I called this fact to his attention. His very first response? (I swear I am not fabricating any of this!) "Well," he said, "you can sue me if you want, but I can afford a better attorney than you can." "Wow," I replied, "you know something sir, that sounds like a very well-rehearsed response. No amount of money will ever get my cat back, but in my book- you sir, shall always be a complete idiot regardless how much money, power or influence this world grants to you." I must say, however- colleague Dr. Paul Emmert was extremely compassionate and professional in his attempt to do damage control for his partner. His reaction was perhaps the only reason this review was submitted much belatedly, and has not been reported to the Illinois Veterinary Board...yet, that is!

If you think all Vets are the same youll be surprised going here. They go above and beyond and are just as passionate about your pet as you are. Last week we were at a grave crossroads for our little ShihTzu and decisions had to be made. We relied 100% on what they recommended and we had to take him to the specialists for an MRI. He was operated on and is presently home recuperating from surgery on his back. The prognosis is good that hell regain his mobility but hell have to take it a little easier the rest of his life but at least we have him back. Even though the operation wasnt performed at PVAH they had received the report from the Vet where he was operated on. PVAH followed up with a phone call to check on our little guy and ask if we had any questions, which of course I did. All is well and we pray for a full recovery. He wont run around jumping and shaking things until they come apart but hell still be the same to us. I wouldnt go anywhere else other than PVAH and trust them 100% with his health and welfare. Thank You PVAH.

I have been taking my cats and dogs to Prairie View for many years. The entire staff has always been very helpful and very friendly any time I have taken my pets there. They have been especially caring and helpful, not only with routine medical care, but also on the occasions that either a pet has died, or has had to be euthanized. We now have two puppies, Rascal and Ozzie, who are new additions. The experiences at Prairie View again have been very positive, as always. I always look forward to going there, as I know that no matter what the issue is, myself and my pets will be treated in a professional, helpful, and also very friendly manner. I highly recommend Prairie View to anyone looking for veterinary care in the area.

They are informative and caring, and understand that your animal is family. They took great care of my cat Basil when it came to be his time. I had a discussion about whether or not the vet thought euthanasia was a reasonable option, since I didnt feel Basil was his old self and didnt want his health deteriorating more than it already had. I had concerns for his safety and didnt want him falling off of something and getting injured. The vet assured me that I had good reason to help my friend pass on without suffering. The vet did not mention putting Basil down until I asked for his opinion. That visit meant a lot to me. They even made me an impression from his paw that I will always cherish.

I have taken my cats to PVAH for over 15 years and they have always received the best care!! We have had a couple of major health issues with a couple of our cats and PVAH was wonderful; they were patient and would answer any questions we had and explain different options to explore. Dr. Diemer and Dr. Emmert are both excellent veterinarians and make sure you get a thorough visit. I greatly appreciate the phone calls I have received from the vets, themselves, to discuss blood work results, etc. The staff is always friendly and helpful as well!! I also am really excited about the new Pet Site, great way to view pets records and request appointments and food!!

Dr. Diemer has been our vet ever since we adopted our cats from TAILS 5 years ago and he is wonderful. He is so knowledgeable and helpful and treats our cats with a lot of love even when they are not reciprocating. He is always very helpful in helping us solve problems. His staff are also very kind and helpful. This visit was the first time that we worked with his technician Nancy and the next time that I make an appointment, I am going to ask for both Dr. Diemer and Nancy. She was fantastic. Our cats hate going to the vet but Dr. Diemer and his staff, especially Nancy, make it about as pleasant of as experience as it can be :-).

The staff at PVAH are great! Everyone we encounter is kind, thoughtful and friendly. When we need to make a decision about our pets health, they explain all options available to us, answer our questions and while they provide their input, never pressure us to make a decision that we arent comfortable with. We adopted both of our pets from shelters and they arent thrilled when we have to take them in for appointments, especially our dog. But the staff is gentle with each of our pets and do what they can to reduce the anxiety and stress of a vet visit for our pets. I highly recommend them!

I brought my new puppy Curley (formerly Poisiden) in to Prairie view for a wellness check. I bring my other animals to this clinic too and find the staff to be very caring, compassionate, and very knowledgeable. I feel confident that my animals will get excellent care at this clinic. Recently 2 of my chihuahuas had a nasty bout of diarrhea. I took them to PVAH and Dr Diemer treated them and prescribed some antibiotic and probiotics. I am happy to say they are both feeling much better! I am so happy this clinic is here and available with such knowledgeable doctors.
