To start with this is the second time that a young inexperienced man was allowed to set up my IV- resulting in three pokes and blood all over the chair and me passing out like a leaf =). I have prepped my self for the surgery by not drinking or eating since 6 pm. (Came in at 9pm). They checked me out (blood work cat scan) and said I will get surgery by 2 am. This time window got pushed back 7 times! As more people came in with more serious issues. They finally got me into a room 10 hours after arriving at the emergency and said my surgery will be in "the morning" when surgeon is ready. At 7 am. They told me it is scheduled for 2 pm. At this point I started speaking up, but was told that there are more emergent situations. At 2pm. They pushed my operation to 4.30pm. this caused my appendix to start leaking and by miracle they still pulled off the laprascopic appendectomy without having to cut me open completely. Procedure was completed 18 hours after arrival at the ER which was really pushing it and these guys almost caused me to have a full on rupture! Theyre so understaffed, they barely even make eye contact with patients and most of them are rude and in a hurry. Everything is set up to save money to the extreme, Im a pretty social person and even got staff to admit that food here is the worst and I was suggested to have someone bring me food from home. Orange Juice was the most synthetic tasting liquid Ive ever had, tomato soup having red color was the only indication it is what they say it was (not exaggerating). Stayed for three days (acute appendicitis), my bed control kept locking up so if I went up I couldnt recline back until staff came in to reset it (over 10 times through my stay). They kept calling service, but no one came out and I was in a couple painful scenarios. Not even one movie channel for entertainment! Roughly 50 showing channels 10 out of which are Mexican dramas, 10 are news, other ten are infomercials and the rest are music (not video!). I had my fiance bring my ps4 out because the "PDI" tvs have an HDMI port. Hooked up ps4 but the tvs are programmed not to switch to input! When nurse reached out to service they said the tvs are not compatible with a console. I pulled up the TV manual online and all that needed to be done is to change settings via original remote (which Im sure they have hundreds of in some drawer). Anyway I felt like no one gave a slightest damn and everyone just wanted to not be bothered. I promise you Im not some whiny spoiled brat, Im a young Lithuanian man in his early 30s. I have seen and experienced what a Soviet hospital feels like and this place is even worse than that. At least in a Soviet hospital you can deal with the crap, but have more confidence in the professionals. I dont complain in life much, but would love to spread some knowledge and let people know to consider ANYTHING else within a 15 to 20 mile radius.

This ER department and hospital are GOD AWFUL - in 2014 I was taken there via ambulance from my ob/gyn office in Orland Park - we knew I was suffering from an ectopic pregnancy in my right tube, I had previously had an ectopic pregnancy in 2012 in my left tube.. this was my last remaing fallopian tube... upon arrival I was in tremendous pain, their ultrasound tech gave up after trying to shove her wand while I was bearing over in the worse pain ever, she told me she didnt even see a fetus or any sign of pregnancy.. LOONG story short- the next day they released me said I was in the middle of a miscarriage NO! that was not possible as my numbers were climbing up not declining as they would in a miscarriage... all signs and symptoms pointed to an ectopic, they released me the next day and told me to follow up with my dr, twenty minutes after arriving home I felt a burst on my left side and then from my toes to my stomach i felt a tingling sensation and called my aunt to drive me to Palos ER where my obgyn had priv, mind you I from Will county so it was a long drive there.. i was bleeding out internally - I arrived in Palos, they immediatly did an ulrasound and seen the fetus in my left tube and I was wheeled away for ER surgery within 45min of arriving...However it was too late to save my last tube, I will never be able to have another child..... Now this past weekend 3/19/2016 I call 911 as I am feeling I maybe having another bowel obstruction that I had to have er surgery for in 2011.. I told the paramedics my lenghthy health issues which they told the desk clerk at the er station.. they wheeled me into the hallway to take blood in a lab chair and LEFT ME THERE FOR THE NEXT 3.5 hrs.. mind you the ER was DEAD noone was even waiting to be seen in the waiting room - plenty of rooms ... techs and CNAs would be walking by me in the hallway as im still sitting in the lab chair and I am asking "where is someone to come get me??? and take me to a room to be seen by a dr??? they kept saying oh let me check - after 3 hrs sitting in the lab chair in the hallway.. I go to the desk with the dry IV still in my arm from the paramedics asking for the paperwork so that I can walk out and seek service else where, she asked me what room I am in.. I said NO ROOM you guys left me in the hallway after arriving via ambulance for 3.5 hrs!!! they aplologized verbally for over looking me.. and when they removed my IV blood bursted out everywhere .. I just wonder how many people have lost their lives at this crap ass hospital due to their complete negligence.. sad and scary.. dont seek ER care at this hospital.. you may never be discharged and that may very well be your last moments

Do not use this hospital for ER services. Once your admitted the staff is fantastic. However in order to get admitted you 100% must go through the ER. I have chronic kidney stones that need to be surgically removed. The ER nurses are the most unprofessional pitiful human beings Ive ever dealt with. 1: they left me for 3-1/2 hours in the waiting room hyperventilating and vomiting all over the place from the amount of pain I was in. 2: did not take a single vital, temp, blood pressure, pulse, nothing. 3: Refused to contact my surgeon (who works at the hospital upstairs *not in the ER) 4: Denied my request for an ambulance to be taken somewhere else after almost 4 hours of waiting with no help. 5: Spoke to me in an extremely rude Manor, going so far as to tell me to grow up and stop being dramatic. (oh pardon me for having a medical condition thats more painful than pregnancy Ill make sure I tell my body its not allowed to vomit, increase pulse/blood pressure, sweat, or be in pain. 6: And this is a real kicker had enough free time in between talking extremely rudely to me, and not checking my vitals to go to my grandfather (who was trying to clean out the bed pan with kleenex before I vomited again) and told him shes sorry that he has such a ridiculous grandchild amoung other rude comments. 7: Finally magically got me a room after 4 hours waiting *my mother who was not at the hospital at the time reached my surgeon through private means and he called down to the ER* 8: wheeled me past not one but two vacant and sanatized rooms on the way to "my" room which they were making a big deal about having 3 nurses in there cleaning/preparing for me. Seriously stay away from this ER team go to homer glen if you have to go to a silver cross its not much further away. I know next time I need a stone surgically removed to go an hour out of my way to specifically avoid this ER. Which is a shame because I couldnt be happier with the urological surgical staff, and my surgeon there at advanced urology. If I could get to them without needed to go through such a ridiculous ER experience I wouldnt quit seeing them.
