I took my rat, Bernie, here back in August. She had a very large tumor the size of a tennis ball, and while she was still acting normal, happy, & like herself, the tumor was beginning to stretch her skin too thin & it was going to become an open wound soon. I knew going in, that I would most likely be putting her down. Bernie was my best friend & had traveled and moved across the country with me twice. They were extremely kind, sweet, and loving towards both me and Bernie. They were gentle with her throughout the entire process. They gave me the choice of euthanizing her - stating that she could live longer, however if the tumor were to become an open wound, it could become infected. I decided to do what was best for her, despite how hard it was saying good bye to my best friend. They let both me & my boyfriend in the back room where they put her in small clear box and attached a small hose that would fill it with laughing gas so she would be numb when they euthanized her. I was allowed to hold her paw, cry, and say my goodbye properly, all while the vet and nurses comforted me and brought me tissues. When they euthanized Bernie, she was peaceful & it was extremely humane. They then asked if I wanted her cremated (which I did) and left me alone in the room with her to mourn until I was ready for them to take her. Throughout my entire experience there, they did not rush me, and were only loving and comforting. That day, I was able to take a clay paw imprint home with me, and less than a week later, they sent me a sweet card in the mail. I understand that - to most - Bernie was just a rat, but their respect and love for all animals touched my heart and helped me grieve properly. I am forever grateful for them and for making saying goodbye easier. I highly recommend them to all my pet owner friends of all types. Theyre clean, kind, and patient. ❤

We found Dr. Jewell shortly after moving to Louisville, and she oversaw our dogs care from adulthood, through a hip replacement, and into her senior years. The facilities are excellent, with some kind of padded flooring, comfortably sized exam rooms, onsite x-rays, and onsite ultrasound, all of which we utilized at some point. She is on time with her appointments. When our dogs hip dysplasia worsened, Dr. Jewell calmly and thoroughly explained our options, allowing us to make an informed decision which. We miss Louisville for lots of reasons, but Dr. Jewell is near the top. You often times dont realize what youve got until you no longer have it. Were trying to find another vet in our new city, and reading reviews. This made me realize that others are doing the same in Louisville. Over the years and different cities, weve visited over a dozen vets. Given a choice, we would pick Dr. Jewell over them all.

I travel all the way from Dayton Ohio just to have Dr. Jewell attend to my Maltese, Bogey. He is the most important thing to me, so I am, obviously, very selective as to whom is involved in his well being. I travel the 130 miles to Louisville because, simply put, she puts your pet first. She is the most thorough veterinarian I have ever worked with. Sure, she may not tell you everything you want to hear all the time.....meaning, you might not like certain comments, but thats because she cares about the animals first and foremost. For me, if Ive made a mistake as an owner, I want to know......even as hard as it may be to hear, so I can insure the health and safety of my little guy......PERIOD! Please keep up the good work Dr. Jewell and staff.......you have a lifelong customer in me. Jim

Best experience I have had at a vet! I took my dog Julia in because she has had dry, itchy skin for several years. Other vets recommended antihistamines to address the issue and did not seem concerned. After taking her to Dr. Jewell, she identified the cause, rather than just addressing the symptoms. Julia needed antibiotics, anti-fungal, and a mousse cleanser, for nearly a month and later, numerous teeth removed because of an infection between her gums and skin. This could have been prevented if other vets took the same care with their craft as Dr. Jewell. The treatment that Julia received and the compassion and friendliness I was shown was much greater than I expected. I will never take Julia anywhere else.

I would highly recommend this facility to anyone. Our Cockatoo was sick Tuesday morning. Even though we live 2 hours away and Ms. Jewel had surgeries scheduled all afternoon she and her staff were able to fit Belle in ASAP. I cant say enough about how informative & caring she and her staff all are. I thank her from the bottom of my heart. Belle began eating again Wednesday night and is still on antibiotics, but is returning to her normal self. Not only did Ms. Jewel come to the waiting/comfort room to talk to us twice about what was going on and our options, but she called us this morning to check on Belle. She truly cares & has so much compassion for your pet & your family. We love Ms. Jewel.

We had recently moved to Florida from Louisville. We drove the 14 hour trip to Louisville in order for Dr. Jewell to do a routine dental on our beloved doggie. We will be going back to Florida without him. He died as a result of critical injuries received during his dental and delayed diagnosis. Injuries that had not ever been seen to this extent at the specialty hospital and injuries that are not reported as a risk factor for small animal dentals. We spent thousands upon thousands of dollars at the specially hospital trying whatever could be done. His injuries had just been too severe.

Our new puppy just finished his series of shots with Dr. Wideman and Dr. Jewel. Both are very thorough and open to any questions you may have. Dr. Widemans advice on crate training has been great. Our puppy was crate trained at 8 wks. They also have good suggestions about food, socialization, and puppy tantrums. The vet and the vet tech spend however much time is needed with you and your pet. You never feel rushed or like a number. I highly recommend both Dr. Jewel and Dr. Wideman.

I took my parrot into Dr. Jewells office on an emergency situation. They had a full schedule that day and they still took my parrot in. Dr Jewell was very caring. She took care of my bird as if it was part of her family. I strongly recommend the hospital to anyone looking for the best pet care in the area. I can say enough on the care and love giving for a tough case.

Absolutely amazing! I really appreciate the care Dr. Ashley took to find out what was wrong with my baby. I had a different vet before that was just treat symptom rather then finding the cause and I will never go to another vet again. They were thorough, professional and most importantly very caring. Very happy with my experience with her.

I cannot say enough about dr.jewell and her assistant lori this evening,the best!!!Took our homes parakeet, a little bit worried about the birds demeanor,called as you can see by the rave reviews before mine,well,our little yellow parakeet has gone to heaven.They were the sweetest to me during the entire visit. Long ride home.RIP!
