Dr Gulani performed cataract surgery on both of my eyes over the past month. Surgeries were done 2 weeks apart. They were very successful and I am very happy with the results. I have been using prescription glasses since the age of 14. After 51 years of using glasses every day, now for the first time, I do not need any glasses. Dr Gulani installed a Toric lense in each eye where he removed the natural cataract lense. This lense not only replaces the cataract lens but also gives me the prescription for distance vision. Hence, no more glasses. I have astigmatism. Which means that my eyeballs are not spherical. I was born this way and I understand many people are. I never knew that until recently. I knew I had special prescription for my glasses that was axial and spherical. But, I did not know why. No one had ever explained that to me. Dr Gulani was very creative in accommodating my astigmatism. So, he installed a Toric lense in one eye to look at distance and the lense in the other eye to read at close. My brain does the blending of two visions, naturally, and I do not need glasses to read or for distance. He explained this strategy to me before the surgery. I agreed and I am happy that I did. I have no trouble for distance vision or close. He explains everything very clearly. He is very enthusiastic about helping the patient. He says that the patient is central to everything he does and I truly experienced it. I am very happy with him as my doctor and his skills and I recommend him to anyone for cataract surgeries.

I did NOT receive a good experience with Dr. Arun Gulani and his staff. I was researching several doctors in the Jacksonville area for my lasik surgery. I wanted to ensure I was choosing someone experienced, knowledgeable and highly reputable. I met with Dr. Gulani and underwent his consultation which went very well. I had lots of questions. He encouraged them, as he says hes also a teacher of lasik. He said to contact him with any questions until I felt comfortable. So I did. But, when asked to answer questions like the ones below, Dr. Gulani would not provide a response: • What percentage of your patients report unresolved complications six months after surgery? • Have you had a successful malpractice claim? • Have you settled a claim? • Are there any pending lawsuits? • Have you ever had malpractice insurance coverage denied? • Has your license ever been revoked, suspended or otherwise restricted? • Have you ever had hospital or surgical facility privileges revoked? • Have you ever had your Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) certification revoked, suspended or otherwise restricted? SCARY! Why answer any other question I have but not these? There are plenty of excellent doctors in Jacksonville, some with more years experience under their belt than Gulani in refractive surgery. And they openly answered all of my questions.

2004/05 I was in tri-focal lens with little hope for improvement as my vision worsened. After consulting with a well-known local specialist and being told "he wouldnt touch me" and, after reading several news articles/TV specials, I consulted with Dr. Gulani. In 2005 he did an innovative procedure where he "planed" (leveled and/or smoothed the surface) of both eyes and removed as much scar tissue as was possible. After this dual, very innovative procedure I have only required and relied on non-prescriptive "reading" glasses. Dr. Gulani has closely followed and monitored my vision changes and needs since our first meeting over 8 years ago. In 2010 Dr. Gulani performed cataract surgery on my left eye; and approximately 1 year later did a follow-up procedure on my left eye to aid in night vision. In September, 2013 he performed cataract surgery on my right eye and I elected to have the Toric lens implanted. My 2-week post-opt check-up reflects 20/20 vision and colors are now brilliant. I have complete faith in Dr. Gulani - his judgment and ability to care for my vision changes and needs. You dont get second chances and/or replacements for your eyes - at least not yet! I choose to have the very best when it comes to my eyes and I believe that is none other than Dr. Gulani -- I would not hesitate to recommend him.

Dr. Gulani is the patients doctor. He is the most skilled vision specialist/surgeon in the Jacksonville area and, I believe, in the state of Florida and the Southeast US, perhaps even the US. I went to Dr. Gulani after two other eye specialists were reluctant to remove my cataracts because of my genetically impaired eyes - I had 20/200 and 20/400 vision and they did not want to be responsible for the difficult complications that may have occurred with my poor, highly myopic eyes. Dr. Gulani explained the risks of surgery to me and then developed a plan to correct my vision one eye at a time. He removed the cataract in one eye and put in an intraocular lens of one magnitude and then removed the cataract in my other eye and inserted a different magnitude intraocular lens. I had no complications and as a result I now see 20/25 in my eyes. For a person wearing glasses of "coke bottle" thickness or hard contact lenses since childhood, what Dr. Gulani has done for me is a miracle. He has given me vision without the external crutches I wore for over 50 years. I am so grateful. It is difficult for people who have been seeing the same eye doctor for years to go to another doctor for a "second opinion" but I urge you to see Dr. Gulani for your sake and for the sake of your loved ones.

The staff is average however Dr. Gulani moves patients like shes moving cattle. She acts as if you are wasting her time. She does not listen to you, whats been going on, your full symptoms. She does not ask any questions, she fails to show any bit of concern. She wants to be in and out of the office. She also charges $5 above what she is supposed to be charging per insurance regulation. I recently had a doctors apt with her, she gave me a written prescription why she did not send it to the CVS that she electronically sent the other one Im not sure. However, the pharmacist stated that Dr. Gulani failed to fill out the prescription properly she didnt even bother to put the dosage or the proper instructions to take it. The pharmacist had to call her, Im not sure if the problem was resolved yet. Needless to say Dr. Hula I has no interest in anyone and is simply pushing people through. Very disappointed. Oh and if you need blood work done you have to go to an outside source to get lab work done. They dont do it in the office.

An exceptional experience in every respect. I have long had serious vision issues involving extreme nearsightedness and astigmatism. Ten years ago I suffered a detached retina in one eye, and in the last couple of years I developed cataracts in both eyes, resulting in a significant loss of vision. I consulted several doctors who advised me to take a very cautious approach to cataract surgery in light of the detached retina. Fortunately, I was finally referred to Dr. Gulani who took a personal interest in my complex situation. From my experience, it is rare in the medical profession to find a doctor who is willing to take time to fully understand your problem, to explain in laymans language the various options available, and to do all this in a manner that makes you feel valued and appreciated. In addition, Dr. Gulani has the knowledge and surgical skill to tackle difficult and challenging cases which require custom therapies. My experience has been truly extradordinary, and I enthusiastically recommend Dr. Gulani.
