I was trying to find a new eye doctor because the one that I had been using for years is retiring. I found this doctor online with my insurance. This is the worst medical office type of experience that I have ever had! The office smells like cigarette smoke. The doctor claimed that it is a "vanilla candle." Really???? He wanted me to try out a new type of contacts over the weekend and call the next week to let them know if I liked them or not. I called them the next week and left a message about ordering another years worth of contacts. They never called me back. I didnt know if they got the message or not or if they even ordered my contacts. I called again the next day, and a very rude woman answered the phone. She seemed in a hurry and didnt help me at all. No one ever called me, so I physically went back to the office (still smelled like cigarettes) to inquire about my contact order. She said that my contacts had just come that day. Why was I never contacted about anything? They used my insurance without asking me if I wanted to use it on the contacts or the glasses. They did not order a years worth (only 6 months). So, she said that she would put in another order. I ended up calling and cancelling the order and went somewhere else to get the rest of my contacts. The doctor also told me that my contacts were good for a month. My other eye doctor always told me to throw away my contacts after about two weeks. I asked the place that I ended up ordering the rest of my contacts about when to throw them away, and they told me two weeks. This eye doctor (Schneider) doesnt know what he is talking about. I felt like I cannot trust these people. I cannot believe that they are still in business! I will NEVER go back to them!!!!!!!!!
I took my son there to get glasses, the lobby area smelled of cigarette smoke and the receptionist was VERY rude to a patient she was on the phone with. I have worked in a Drs office and in customer service for MANY years and thats not how you treat people when you run a business!! Also, I have worn glasses for over 20 years and they ALWAYS give you the rx, when you get your frames/contacts, not this place. My son broke his glasses and this Drs office grilled me when I returned to get the rx them. I called in advanced and showed up during the time they specified, but still had to explain why. Why, should I have to explain why I need MY SONs rx, which I have every right to ask for!!! The Dr. was answering phones that day, and lets just say, the receptionist is not the only one that needs a customer service course!
My wife and I have both been going to Dr. Schneider every year for the past 8 years. Never had a problem with Dr. Schneider or his receptionist. Although we do not have vision insurance any more since I retired, I still go to him even though he is a little more expensive that some of the "store front" optometrist. We purchased eye glasses from him the first year we went to him, but even with the insurance discount they were pricey. We have found that eyeglasses at Costco were much less expensive (even cheaper than Walmart Optical or some of the other so called low price eyeglass stores). We never have a problem getting our prescriptions from him, and in fact for the last 5 years he just writes them and hands them to us without having to ask. Dr. Schneider also has a storefront in Rockwall as well as Rowlett.
Went there a few months ago and the doctor got me in right away. He was ok kinda quirky. Went to check out and the lady a the desk said it would be $85. I said I had never been charged for a exam before. Thats when she got an attitude. I paid sense I had somewhere to be. Called my insurance while driving and they told me I should not have paid anything for the exam. I had to make time to go back and get a refund after I got my insurance company to call and ask about their questionable billing

Both the lady at the counter, and the doctor himself have bad attitudes. Make sure to get your "Pupillary Distance (PD)" measured if getting glasses online, because they wont give it to you without asking. If you have an astigmatism, then again find another doctor. I have astigmatisms in both of my eyes, and the Rx he gave me for my eyes did not correct it. I would not recommend seeing this establishment, please find another place to do business.
These bad ratings are crap. This place is great. The front desk woman is awesome. She reminds me of my mom. The dr is great also. They dont waste my time. Im always in and out. I been going here for 3 years. Maybe the bad ratings are from people who doesnt like a no nonsense style of approach. Me I love it. 2/1/17 Just got my new pair of Versace frames and like always their good to me. Thanks once again. Best dam eye care place around
Dont take your children here if they have bad eye sight. He has no patience with them and its obvious hes been doing this so long that he hates his job. He never could get the right prescription for my daughter and we are now fighting with the insurance to allow us to go to another doctor. He wont even cooperate with the insurance company. Not sure why they contract with him.

I like the "Dont let the receptionist put you off" from the previous review. Its true. The doctor is excellent (Dr. Schneider), but the receptionist is very rude. I have been filling my prescriptions for the last 3 years and everytime I go I have an argument with her because shes so inconsiderate and rude. But the doctor is great, thats why I still go there.
I dont get the bad rating either, this has been the only eye place I have gone that gets my entire family visions needs met, I want to be able to see that is the main point of going to get your eyes examined. I will say the customer service needs a little work but over all I am very happy with this place.
The Doc. was awesome! Saw myself and my family on very short notice. He was very patient with my 6 year old. He was courteous and respectful! He took the time to get everything right and stayed late to make sure we had no more questions. 5/5
Dont let the receptionist put you off. He is a very good doctor and has always gotten my glasses and contacts done correctly. I have a very tough percription and really had to search to find someone who could get it right
I was in a hurry and could hear Dr. Schneider and the receptionist yapping for almost 30 minutes in the back after my appointment should have started. I missed a lunch with my grandmother thanks to their untimeliness.
The lady at the front desk has the worst attitude. Ill be finding a new office for my family and I.
Best eye doctor I have ever been to
