This is potentially the worst run most customer unfriendly Vets I have ever in my entire 20 years of owning animals encountered. 1) Their record keeping is atrocious, our spayed female dog is listed as un-spayed despite (most of their vets there probably cant even tell the difference) 2) They could not even schedule a rabies vaccination ( for one of our cats correctly) again despite being reminded repeatedly what the appointment was for. In fact I would not trust them to do anything with an animal because they dont review charts or check anything before an appointment. In this case they even blamed us from not getting the appointment right this was after the 1 hour wait without apology ( they were short staffed but never mentioned it when we arrived ) when we complained and demanded to see the office manager they called the police ( yes seriously apparently complaining customer have no right to ask to see who is in charge they can waste hours of your time and charge you for the displeasure of it with no recourse) . But all that pales into insignificance when we get to the veterinary ability of their vets. We originally went because of Dr Klaiber who is excellent but unfortunately has been out due to injury for months and months now. The other vets there should not be allow to treat worms let alone cats or dogs. Our Coon hound was taken in repeatedly for blocked anal glands, symptoms included rectal bleeding general stiffness, difficulty defecating, and loose ribbony stool with blood in it. Visits resulted In the same I dunno answer every time ( often with and expensive antibiotics treatment for an anal abscess ) The symptoms got worse until a final call where we asked for an appointment because things had got so bad. They didnt consider it urgent and offered a vet tech appointment some 4 days later. That weekend we were at Boston Road Animal hospital in the emergency department where one quick exam had the Vet telling us he was suspecting cancer in the anal glands in and advanced state. Cody did not even last the week from there and the biopsies confirmed cancer and metastatic disease. Boston road was awesome where Southwick had missed all the classic symptoms of this condition multiple times. So if you want routine shots and expensive annual check up and no diagnostic skills or interest in your animal this is the vet for you. If on the other hand you have a pet you value find another vet.

I have to say Southwick Animal Hospital is a wonderful place to bring your pet. I recently moved to the area. My other vet who I loved was in CT but it was hard to drive the dogs over an hour everytime they needed medical care. I first went to SAH last month when my beloved golden retriever became so ill he was unable to walk, eat, stand, etc... He was pretty much on deaths door and it happened literally overnight. I called SAH in a panic - a friend recommended the place to me. I spoke with the owner of the place on the phone, she took my dog in right away. 6 days later after an emotional ride, my dog is still alive. And let me tell you, I know that if I had taken him anywhere else, he would not have made it. He had a horrible tick disease, not lyme. Anyway, the bill I paid was a SMALL price to pay for the life of my canine friend. He is my family, and when it comes to me & my family I wont settle for anything less than the best and most compassionate care. And THAT is EXACTY what I got at SAH. I will never take my dogs anywhere else. Never. In fact, he is there right now having a small procedure done.

I have never been dissatisfied with the service the facility has provided for my dog. As long as Ive been going there I have not seen the same vet more than once but I have always been asked if Id like to see the same vet (I chose not to because it works better for my schedule to take certain openings). However, last time I went in there, I could tell the vet who had taken care of my dog at the last visit took good notes. The new vet knew exactly what types of treats my dog preferred and what worked best with my dog. Because my dog has grown increasingly protective over me, the vet could not perform the exams necessary as he wouldnt leave my side. The vet was very patient with him and although she eventually had to take him into a back room, I felt confident that his care was nothing less than extraordinary. They try their hardest to adapt to your schedule and are always very welcoming upon arrival right up to the very end. I highly recommend bringing your pet here. You wont be disappointed.

My pets (current and past) have been patients of Southwick Animal Hospital going back at least 30 years. As the years go by, there have been the inevitable changes in staff and in the facility itself but one thing has remained constant; the high standard of medical care and the caring compassion of the staff. My cats literally enter the office purring! They are never stressed by "hospital smells" or the vibes that animals sense and we humans do not. Even my 2 rescue cats who are normally wary and timid are relaxed and comfortable with the caring staff members of Southwick Animal Hospital. The veterinary charges for services provided are fair and reasonable. I have always been well advised of various treatment options and never felt pressured to treat an animal beyond what is reasonable or beyond my ability to pay. As long as I reside in this locale I shall always bring my cats to VCA Southwick. Special thanks to Drs. Cosgriff and Gentes.

Most caring staff. Ive always been extremely happy with all aspects of this animal hospital. An example of how wonderful they are... i recently moved to Kentucky and it was time to get my dog fixed, i took him to a local vet and was really disappointed with how rude and cold the staff were. When i left with my dog i heard a person complain about their dog receiving the wrong medicine. This worried me so i called vca Southwick... they took the time to confirm my dog was given the correct meds and go over directions for them, she asked me questions about how my dog was acting and then explained what to expect from my dog for the next few days. Getting their feedback truly calmed my nerves. Thanks VCA Southwick! Yall are the absolute best. I wish every vet practiced in the caring and compassionate way you do.

I love Dr. Klaiber! She has been very kind to all of my animals. We have a German Shepherd and 3 cats. Sadly, we had to have another older dog and an older cat put to sleep. I was allowed to stay with my cat while she was put to sleep and I took all the time I needed in private to say goodbye. I noticed someone else mentioned never seeing the same vet. twice--if you ask for the same vet you will be able to see the same vt.--I always book appointments specifically with Dr.Klaiber. Once or twice I needed to schedule on a day she was not there and did see other doctors--all who were professional and knowledgable. I do agree that my visits can be somewhat costly, but I do believe they offer a quality product. The office is exceptionally clean which I appreciate.
