In September 2012, I took my daughter to see Dr. Port and was very pleased with customer service, our experience at the office, friendliness of staff. etc. It was a very good experience. We were told that my daughter had 10 cavities and would need 4 caps on her molars - to the tune of about $2000 just for dental work plus costs of having this procedure done under general anesthesia at either Zeeland or Borgess hospital. We trusted Dr. Ports assessment and moved forward with plans to have this "necessary" procedure done. A week later, I was strongly encouraged by a friend of mind who is a physician that I should get a second opinion. I took my daughter to a different pediatric dentist in Holland who examined her mouth, viewed the exact same xrays taken by Dr. Ports office, and concluded that my daughter had only 6 cavities and not any more than that. Also, the teeth that Dr. Port wanted to put the caps on only had small cavities on the side of the teeth and according to this other dentist, it was an excessive measure to suggest capping them. In the end, Instead of paying $2,000 plus hospital charges to have my daughters teeth done by Dr Port, we paid $600 to have 6 cavities filled by this other physician who is well respected in the community and highly recommended. I encourage anyone to get a second opinion by another dentist to make sure Dr. Ports assessment is accurate.

I took my grandson in to a local dentist and they said that he would need a lot of work done. my grandson was scared of this dentist. we found Dr. Port and have been going there for two years. they are very friendly, they take the time to explain what they are going to do. (In a not scary way). My grandson had to have a bit of work done. to this day he does not think that he had to have any shots.(he had like 5). Dr. Ports office does cater to the kids and they make this a very positive experience for them. After all if they dont have a good experience at the dentist they wont continue to go back. it could wreck it for the rest of their lives. keep up the good work girls. my grandson looks forward to every visit.
