Zero Stars - Awful The only reason why I went to the health department for my dental work was because they had a plan for people with low income. I proved my low income & they set me up with discounts & some fund paid for the other half of the dental work that I needed. The receptionists were not friendly & didnt know what good customer service is all about. The dentist and assistants were friendly, but not professional. When I had my teeth worked on I had 3 to 4 cavities filled at once. I dont like needles, so that was the best idea I had. I had probably 3 visits & that took care of everything except my front teeth. All 3 appointments I was not given a proper rinse once the filling was filled and everything was done. (I remember as a kid, Id get a rinse to wash out any filling stuff.) I left the room & the office speaking with both the doctor, assistants & the receptionists before I left & NONE of them notified me that I had filling material bits all over my clothes, all over my face & all in my mouth. Before I left to go back to work after my first appointment, I decided to stop by the bathroom to check out the fillings. To my amazement I was covered with filling bits. I made it a habit to clean up after my following appointments in their bathroom. After my 3rd appointment, I had a word with one of the receptionists. I told her that Im not sure what the procedures are for the doctor, but could you ask that he inform patients that there is filling all over them? The receptionist took my payment after my appointment, which was before I went to the bathroom and before I asked her that. She denied seeing anything, but when I made it to the bathroom it was MORE THAN OBVIOUS that there was filling pieces on my face, clothes and in my mouth. The doctor and the assistants were unprofessional in my opinion, because I had to make my appointments on the days that the doctor was available (obviously). So when I went in for my appointment he often handed me over to one of his assistants because he was over booked. During one appointment, the most difficult filling that was covering 85% of one tooth, he had a rookie work on it. It took twice as long, because all the work she put into it wasnt good enough so when he came back into the room he had to redo it all. WONDERFUL. During a separate appointment, another rookie was working on a filling and she actually let filling bits slide down my throat. In all honesty, theyll let you know if somethings wrong PLEASE LET US KNOW, how in the heck are you supposed to let them know when they are in your mouth? I got one of ems attention by touching her arm & I tried to say that its going down my throat. They didnt understand & kept going. They, as in one rookie was doing the filling & the other rookie was in charge of the water hose & the suction hose. The one who was working on the filling didnt realize stuff was going down my throat & the one in charge of the hoses wasnt paying attention to her job, instead watching what the other one was doing. Finally, I made some gagging noises & what a wake up call that was. Despite them jumping into action at that point, I ended up swallowing a lot of filling bits anyways. When that appointment was over, I asked the receptionists if swallowing that stuff is harmful and she said "I dont know". THATS INSIGHTFUL. During another 1 of my filling appointments they used some metal contraption that is supposed to help shape the filling. That thing was very sharp and the way they installed it gashed my gums, near the filling, open. None of them informed me of what happened. Instead they used the suction hose to dry out the blood, so I wouldnt know about it. These are the main disturbances that I remember from my visits to the health department to get my teeth worked on. I hope my review prevents future visits because no one should have to go through all that. The Marquette County Health Department: Dental Services needs to get it together and improve their services to our community.

I would give them zero stars if possible. Do not go here. The one Dentist they had that was professional and nice left. I tried to set up another appointment and the receptionist Katherine was very rude to me. I was talking with her very nice, yet the whole time she had a rude tone. Im not the first to complain about the receptionist either. She was trying to make a missed appointment, to which I had no prior knowledge of, look as if it was all my fault. I told her that the fault must be mutual. I have all my paperwork and no evidence of any appointment scheduled on the date she specified. After stating facts and telling her I had the worst dental experience of my life there 7 years ago. I was worried of going to another dentist that works there. The entire conversation seemed strained. I used one bad word not directed at any individual nor in a derogatory manner. It was simply out of frustration, to which I apologized immediately. She replied, "no appointments for you." I do not recommend this place. They are extremely unprofessional and always have been. They switch appointments around on you. Then blame you for when theyre missed and when you try to explain....they are rude and lack understanding and compassion. This office is very disorganized and behaves antagonistically towards patients. In short they are highly unpredictable.

I am thrilled with the service my son got when coming in for an emergency-his tooth was chipped and he is 9 hours away from me-we had a bad experience with another dentist and my insurance company suggested I try another dentist-from the start the admin that set up and checked our insurance were extremely helpful and my son was very reluctant to go to another dentist but I did not want him to have a root canal on a front tooth-the dentist here was so helpful as were all the staff-he felt comfortable and was able to ask questions and she (DR) explained what she could do and what the consequences would be going forward-he is a happy boy and I am thrilled I was afraid I was going to have to have him come back home to get this fixed-Thank you Thank you Thank you for putting my mind and his at ease-he has more dental work that needs to be done and he is ok with coming back to start some of the rest the is general dental help not emergency. i wrote my insurance a letter stating they should not work with the other dental company (maybe you should not worry about naming your dental chain after a city) and worry more about the service your patients receive Thank goodness we found My Community Dentist in Marquette

Amazing! First off I was scared to even go in this place and I think they knew it. So I sit in the chair and think its kind of a check-up to get started on pulling the rest of my teeth, and the dentist asks me how I would like to just get them taken out right now? Of course I said yes. She numbed me up and away she went and I dont know how long it took her for 7 teeth but it seemed like only 10 or 15 minutes. My mouth was full of gauze so I couldnt talk, all I could do was reach up, hold her wrists, and garbled out the best I could "thank-you" I dont know her name darn it! But she had long blonde hair, pretty young woman. I hope she reads this because I want to say THANK-YOU again. One more thing I must add- the receptionists there were very friendly and curtious. Ill never ever forget a bad day going to the dentist that turned into an amazing day!
