I went for a general checkup today and a cleaning. I asked how long the cleaning took and she said 10 mns. I was surprised since my last dentist took a whole 30 mns. It turns out she only uses the electric tool (not sure what its called) and she was heavy handed in her cleaning. Water was flowing down my neck and she used up 3 paper towels to wipe all of it. She let me go without polishing my teeth. I almost got out of my seat but decided to stay. It was a TRAUMATIZING experience. When I called her later about polishing, she said shed do it the next time I came and that she didnt do it because my gums were bleeding, which I dont believe since she had only planned on it taking no more than 10 mns. My sister, who is a dentist in another state, told me that there should be a combination of tools for cleaning, not just the electric one, and polishing is part of the cleaning. She will be claiming the cleaning from my insurance for 10 minutes worth of work and Im sure I wont be able to go anywhere else for another 6 months.
