I do not recommend this dentist. As I will explain his relationship with his endodontist friend and his dental hygienist wife interfere with his office’s professionalism and the work he performs. I visited Dr. Brayton with a deep cavity which he fixed and then fitted for a crown. After the temporary was put on I experienced major tooth sensitivity—had to call him over the weekend—and he suggested I needed a root canal and referred me to Dr Shugars (an endodontist with which he maintains financial and probably personal relations). Of course Dr. Shugars recommended a root canal on the recommendation of Dr. Brayton without even performing an exam. I sensed that these doctors’ focus was first most on money and not my tooth. I understand they may have been being cautious, but Dr. Sugars never even looked at the tooth or the x-ray (which showed no problems). I had to tell him I think he should look at the X-ray. He was just like, should we do the root canal now? Of course I said no. After talking to others, I was told that a loose crown could cause the pain I was feeling. I suggested we go ahead and skip the root canal and chance the permanent crown. And guess what? It’s fine. Good thing I had the courage to take control of my own health against Brayton’s professional opinion. I’m not sure how many others feel compelled to go against a doctor’s word. In addition to this work and cleanings, Dr. Brayton also worked on a tooth on which the enamel had worn. He coated the tooth and this helped for a number of months. When I returned to have the procedure performed again, he rushed through the process—he was overbooked it seems—and didn’t sand down the cover properly. I had to return to the office a day later and this time he filed off all of the covering he applied. As everyone knows, it’s hard to tell sometimes how dental work has taken, and it wasn’t until I returned home that I noticed how my tooth was actually worse off than when I had initially visited two appointments earlier. When I called the office to explain the situation, the woman who I spoke with immediately became defensive stating “Dr. Brayton is an excellent doctor!” and in a rude tone said “Well, didn’t you tell him it was fine when you left?” When told her I sensed her becoming defensive and asked her to speak directly to Dr. Brayton she, in a raised voice and again rude manner, said, “We can schedule you for an appointment in our first opening,” which ended up being three weeks away. She was yelling pretty loud at this point and I sternly told her to ask her “boss” for his opinion at which point she said with great, loud emphasis, “He is NOT my boss. This is Lisa Brayton.” So, basically, his wife answered the phone and rather than helping me, she spent her time yelling at me and defending her husband. Not appreciating my direct manner, she hung up on me rather than speak to the person—Dr. Brayton—who knew much more than her what he was doing in my mouth. Later that week I received a letter telling me they would no longer see me. I wish that the conversation with his wife would have been recorded—not that it would make any difference. In retrospect, the work Dr. Brayton performed was uneven, and his relationships get in the way of his work. He would rather boost his friend Dr. Shugar’s income and his wife’s ego than connect professionally with his patients.

Been with Dr. Brayton for 2 years for regular check ups and a crown. Although very professional and knowledgeable, he is not very warm or friendly and does not offer explanations readily. When asked a questoin, he will take the time, but you have to ask. In 4 cleanings he spent about a grand total of 5 minuets with me, the tech did EVERY thing, he came in for the obligatory after check so he could bill his time and then leaves. As for the crown, again the tech did most of the work, with him coming in only when required. After getting the crown, I asked around and he was higher by over $150.00 from 2 other dentist in the area. I will now be going to then for future work needed on my teeth. Over all, not a bad dentist, just charges more and has less personality than I wanted.

Dr. Brayton and the entire staff are very friendly and accommodating. I price checked between the 2 dentist my insurance would cover in the area and Dr. Brayton was cheaper.
