I am giving this facility 2 stars because the staff was very friendly and the room was nice. However, I feel I was not well cared for. My pain was not managed at all, and I waited over 2 hours (probably closer to 3 hours) for the results of a very physically uncomfortable ultrasound. I came to the ER here last June (2016) because, as my husband as I were driving home from vacation, I started to miscarry. I was mentally unprepared for the amount of bleeding and pain I began to experience. In hindsight, we probably did not need to go to an ER, but we were frightened, so we went (we did not know how many more ERs we would find on our way back to Illinois, and had a hard time even finding this one). During the 5+ hours that I was at the Zeeland ER, I was told I could not have pain medication (or peppermint tea, or even water) because I may have to undergo emergency surgery. Fair enough. However, I was not given any other options for pain relief (cold pack, heating pad, extra pillows). I could not even walk around because I was tethered to the bed by my I.V. Now, neither my husband nor I thought to ask for these things at the time, but we were understandably preoccupied, and neither of us has any kind of medical training. I would happily have traded the fancy TV for more attentive care. Maybe if I was not in a private room, enough other patients would have complained of my moans of extreme discomfort that I would have received some relief (or at least a single attempt to relieve my pain). Upon admission, I rated my pain at a 6 of 10. Staff never asked again, but the pain levels went up. So if you have to come here, I recommend you do not try to be brave when rating your discomfort; you wont be asked twice. Also, you will have to be pushy. We were not pushy and I definitely suffered for it. That said, I am alive and healthy to complain.

3/18/2016 I went to Urgent Care for symptoms. Waited 2 hrs for care. When Nurse came to get me, she asked what my symptoms were, took one look at my arm and decided I needed E.R. for IV treatment. I told her I preferred to go to Urgent Care, as my insurance would not pay for E.R. without being sent for E.R treatment by a doctor. She told me that if I go to Urgent care Id have to pay there and then pay for E.R. in addition. So I let her convince me to just go to E.R. because she was sure I was going to need IVs. Once in E.R. the doctor did nothing for me. I agree that this Hospital is moving patients for the sole purpose of MORE money. My insurance company will also be hearing about this decision. Spectrum Health, see how fast you get my payment for your incompetent services. I could have treated myself and avoided 2.5 hrs of exposure to more infections. My Urgent Care co-pay is now going to be 6.25 X higher! Thanks Spectrum Health Staff!

Friendly staff and care. But billing is error prone since there are 3 entities that are not fully compatible - Zeeland hospital, spectrum and priority health. Theres an incorrect code or charge 1 of 3 times. Most people would not know and pay, but my wife is in in the field, so Ive learned to spot incorrect billing. Billing and support Web sites are slow and error prone, I need to call on phone. Surprisingly, priority health has no incentive to question billing errors , likely since its the same entity. I end up trouble shooting for family at least once a month. If you dont get a response from them, please contact the state attorney general, your voice matters to identify patterns of incorrect billing. In any case, I switched to Holland Hospital urgent care for the kids.

Do NOT Go to the ER there if you have any chronic illness or disease they will treat you like a drug seeker no matter what the issue is.I have crohns disease that occasionaly will have florous I went into the ER and was told that basically everything is in my head they were not going to give me anything for pain relief and treated me like I just wanted narcotics .One time my husband linen for severe chest pain and was told they were going to do a spinal tap without even taking his vitals he also had a fever of a 104.2. We left and went to a different hospital where they found double pneumonia in his lungs. The doctors at Zealand hospital only care about getting paid they do not have any regard for patients in pain or suffering .

Went to Urgent Care for stomach pain. They said they had to refer me to the ER to get a CT scan. I advised them that the reason I went to Urgent Care was to avoid the additional $100 my insurance would charge me if I wasnt admitted to the hospital after and ER visit. They said I could only get a CT at the ER, which was across the hall. So I ended up paying a $100 co-pay and to add insult to injury the doctors in the ER under the company name of Emergency Care Physicians - Zeeland, charged me another $108 on top of the hospital charge. As many times as I have been to an "ER" I have never had this happen. Wont be going back. Metro is only 10 miles down the road.

My husband had an emergency appendectomy there yesterday. It was unexpected and a little scary, but everyone that took care of him at Zeeland Hospital was phenominal. From the emergency room crew at 3 am, to the nurses that took care of him the entire day, to the receptionist, and especially his surgeon. Literally everyone I talked to was so caring and helpful. I cant even express enough praise & thanks.

After experiencing a very poor experience at Spectrum Butterworth - I am happy to give Zeeland Hospital a five star rating. I had my mother there for some tests. The staff was friendly, efficient, on time. They even switched her MRI up to follow her other test to save us the inconvenience of waiting. Other hospitals should study Zeeland and learn from them. In particuliar Butterworth ER.

My wife came in with a routine medical issue that required lab tests. She knew exactly what the issue was and what medication she needed. The hospital run a bunch of unnecessary tests and ran up the bill for no reason. An issue that was a $40 co-pay elsewhere landed us a $203 bill here, and our insurance is the best. Choose Spectrum Zeeland if you want to pay 5 times as much.

I came in late because my roommate had an infection that was spreading rapidly and we came by ambulance to Zeeland Community Hospital and they did not take us seriously at all. The nurses disregarded her and acted bothered to have patients. Didnt see a doctor for hours. Never returning. Never returning.
