I took my cat to this vet, Raymond Smith DVM for a check up and annual shots, it was my first and last time there. My cat is long haired and had some big knots in his hair. He is due for an appt with my groomer for a shaving. This vet took a wire comb and forcefully tried brushing out a mat that was close to my cats skin. Instead of leaving it for the groomer or using a shaver he continued to roughly pull at the mat and tore a 2 insh gash in my cats skin. He then told me "it happens all the time". I have had groomers shave him for 4 years and never had a cut on him. He then proceeded to put 5 staples in my cat to close the wound and did NOT clean, shave or numb the area, my cat was wide awake screaming as he stapled the wound with hairs in it as well. He gave me no antibiotics to give the cat and said he would not "charge" me to take the staples out in 2 weeks. I went to another vet aftwards since I am worried about him getting an infection and they were in shock to hear the imcompetance and horrible treatment to an animal by Raymond Smith. Being a local resident I have since heard other horror stories of animals being taken to Long Branch Animal Hospital. This man should have his license taken away!!!!

Dr. Smith has a wealth of experience and diagnosed my dogs walking problem within seconds of seeing him (disc problem), which he said were common in this breed. The dog was in severe pain, but now is healing comfortably. The visit (including drugs) cost $100. If I had taken the dog to Red Bank Veterinary Hospital, Im certain they would have ordered a battery of tests and I would have left $1000 poorer. I once took the dog to Red Bank because he was in pain, and they gave him every test known to man, X-rays, the works. It cost $450 to get a diagnosis of indigestion and a recommendation to give him a Tums. If money is no object, Red Bank will take all your money. Dr. Smith knows animals and isnt trying to get a mansion in Rumson. Id trust Dr. Smith everytime over the Red Bank pickpockets, who would have called in a neurologist, virologist, and psychologist without even telling me I was about to go bankrupt.

Dr. Smith saved my kitten. She was showing very obvious signs of illness (vomiting, loss of appetite, lethargy) and Dr. Smith was able to pinpoint the problem in seconds (and just an examination, no expensive diagnostics) and gave me hope during a time I felt it was nearly inevitable that I was going to lose my precious kitten. I had taken her to a different hospital the day before, where they tried to charge me hundreds of dollars in diagnostic tests which wouldnt have even identified the actual problem. I could not be more satisfied with the service at Long Branch Animal Hospital. I feel that the staff at this animal hospital is truly professional and that they really do have the best interest of your pet in mind.

I took my 11 week old dog to Dr. Smith and he diagnosed him with Giardia within minutes and gave him medication for it. A full week later and no improvement I called a different vet which told me to please bring him in right away. My dog never had Giardia, but instead an infection in his colon which needed three medications. This vet I went to also informed me that even if my dog did have Giardia it wouldnt have improved with Dr. Smiths medication he prescribed because he gave me the wrong dosage, and even spelled the medication wrong on the bottle. My dog is making a great recovery now but his condition would have been better faster had I never taken him to Dr. Smith in the first place.

Weve taken our pets to LBAH for years and are very appreciative of the care they provide. Dr. Smith and the support staff are always kind, helpful and efficient. From run of the mill visits (shots, etc.) to taking care of our cat who enjoys getting out of the house and scrapping, to neutering and spaying as well as behavioral issues, I have had nothing but wonderful interactions and excellent care given at LBAH. I dont hesitate to recommend this practice (and can attest they not only take wonderful care of our cats and dog but have also, in the past, given the same high level of care to a hamster. Yes, a hamster. Oh, the things we do for our children and their beloved pets!).

Fantastic personalized service that is affordable. Dr. Tsakiris has used acupuncture and holistic medicine to treat my dogs with amazing results. Dr. Smith has preformed routine procedures and teeth cleanings for my dogs for the past decade. The office staff is caring and receptive to the needs of pet parents.

Awful service. Expected results from my dogs blood test next day. Vet was not in on Saturdays. Received no phone call from her, and now the offices are closed all weekend. I have no way to contact her and spent $500 dollars for nothing. I dont know whats wrong with my dog!

My dog is accident prone unfortunately and Dr Smith has saved his life more than once! Every time (and its been several times...) Ive left either dog there, I know they are in great hands. The entire staff is friendly and truly love what they do!
