This place will find ways to take your money time and time again. We had our cat come in for a routine check-up before requesting a health certification for an airline flight. Dr. Mitchell suggested we run blood-work, as the cat is older. found that he in fact had hyperthyroidism, which is dangerous and could have killed him. I am very grateful for the office catching this. He also supposedly had a small heart murmur which they suggested we look in to further. Dr. Mitchell stated that the heart murmur would not effect the ability for the cat to obtain his health certification. I purchased an airline ticket for 2 months out. The medicine for hyperthyroidism regulated the condition. Dr. Mitchell stated that she would be willing to sign the health cert as long as I was willing to sign a waiver stating that I am aware of the cats heart murmur. After conversation with her, she re-assured me that the murmur was not a concern in regards to his traveling. 6 days before the flight, everything changed. We called to establish one last check-up before the flight. Dr. Mitchell sent over a waiver for me to sign that removed OCVH from all liability of the cats travel, to include the animals death. in 2 months, we NEVER discussed the cat DYING because of a mild heart murmur. This then turned in to the office insisting that the cat have a $500 plus ultrasound before the flight. I panicked, but did not take bait. When I questioned the hypocrisy of giving us a health cert, but making us sign a waiver stating the cat could die, the office began transferring me from one person to the next, until finally I spoke with a "Partner" (owner). I told them that we had 2 months to have a serious conversation about the cats heart, and that I was told by Dr. Mitchell that he would be fine on the flight. I was essentially being forced to make a decision about flying with him with this new information, and it seemed like nothing more than an attempt to scare me in to spending more money under duress. I was not happy, as I worked with them for months to get this cat stabilized for travel. The end result is that the office did not like the fact that I was questioning their process about their waiver, and that I would not spend any more more money. I took the cat to another vet. they found no heart murmur, and gave me a health cert without a hypocritical waiver. Just like the other reviews about OCVH, they will do anything to scare you in to spending upwards of thousands of dollars. If you dont, they will tell you that they are "ending the client relationship" and kick you down the road.

My rabbit DIED in their care during a regular spaying. From the start I should have known better than to go here. When I first needed to make an appointment I had to call 3-4 times and leave a message for the manager (who never called me back). Then once I actually got the appointment they called me about an hour before the appointment because the surgeon called in sick. Then once I actually brought her there all they did was weigh her, check her (to make sure she was a girl) then took her away. No exam infront of me didnt ask me any questions about her, nothing. Later on that day I got a call asking if I consent to cpr then a call saying she passed. They gave me my money back and paid for her cremation. I got to say goodbye to my baby and the only explanation I got was that she was fine after surgery but 2 hours after her temperature dropped then she died. I asked if she was monitored at all and they told me she was she was next to a dog in critical condition during recovery so there had to be staff around her. I had a woman from the NJ House Rabbit Society follow up with them and the story they gave her was COMPLETLY different than what I was told. They told her she passed due to her bleeding more than usual. If she bled more than usual then STOP the surgery and save the life of my bunny or watch her closer during recovery. I believe they did not tell me the truth and she was not watched as well as they said she was. I got more sympathy and compassion from the woman at the House Rabbit Society than the office manager there. Im sure this vet is more than fine with dogs and cats but if you have a small animal PLEASE dont go here for surgery. There are plenty of other specialists who give you more one on one care than here. Im sure they did not mean to harm her in anyway but after reading all these negative reviews from small animal/exotic animal owners they probably shouldnt be working on small animals and just stick with dogs & cats.

I have been taking my dogs to Ocean County Veterinary Hospital since 1988; from the first phone conversation with Dr. Falk, I knew that we had wound up in the right place and with the right vet for our dog at the time, Stoney... Dr. Falk has always been totally accurate in his assessment of any issues which our dogs developed over the years, and I always have had total confidence in his abilities. And, very importantly, he, as well as everyone else at this animal hospital, loves animals and that always made it easy to leave our four legged family members there when we needed to, whether it was for a weekend or a 2 week vacation... always knew that they were in the best of care there... and I also have to add that Dr. Danowitz is also an absolutely amazing vet... he helped get our Gracie thru her diabetes, when I had brought her in I thought that her time was up, but it turned out that at 16 and a half years, she was diabetic and needed insulin 2x a day, and we were able to have her with us for another year... and poor Freckles was so sick with pancreatitis two years ago, but he took care of her for 2-3 days intensively and she made it, thank goodness... all of the vets and their staff are just the absolute best at what they do... I cannot say enough good things about them all... we have moved south in the last few months, and I only hope that I will find such a wonderful and caring group of people down here in Florida to care for Freckles... as they say, it is "big shoes to fill"...

OCVH PRICES TOO HIGH, ONLY CARE ABOUT THE MONEY AND NOT THE PETS HEALTH. THEY EXTRACTED A STOOL SAMPLE ON 3 OF MY CATS, WITHOUT MY PERMISSION, CAUSING THEM CHRONIC INTESTINAL INFECTIONS AND DIARRHEA. ONLY REALIZED THIS WHEN THE 3rd CAT DEVELOPED THIS CONDITION. THEY WERE DISMISSIVE AND HINTED MAYBE THEY GOT SOMETHING FROM HOME THAT CAUSED THE CONDITION., BS! MY HOME IS SPOTLESS (fanatical girlfriend). THE GROOMING FACILITIES ARE DIRTY AND IVE NEVER SEEN THEM CLEAN THE EXAMINATION TABLES ONCE IN 12 VISITS. I SAY MAYBE THEY PICKED UP SOMETHING FROM THEIR FACILITIES. DONT BRING CATS THERE. IT DOESNT SEEM LIKE THEY LIKE CATS. ALSO NOTE MY FIRST EXPERIENCE ( i shouldve realized from this experience) THE CAT HAD URINARY BLOCKAGE, SUFFERING IN PAIN. THEY WANTED $3000 TO OPERATE. AND WOULDNT GUARANTEE IT WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM I COULDNT AFFORD IT! THEY REFUSED TO PUT THE CAT DOWN, WITH WHICH I PROCEEDED TO START TO BALL MY GROWN MAN HEAD OFF CAUSE MY LITTLE BUDDY WAS SUFFERING AND SEEMED LIKE ALL THEY WANTED WAS MONEY. F THEM FROM NOW ON. I HOPE THEY GO OUT OF BUSINESS. MONEY GRABBERS. P.S. ALSO NEVER CHECKED ALL 3 CATS TEETH AND EARS ,DURING THE INITIAL EXAMINATIONS. I GIVE THEM A 50% INCOMPETENCE RATING. DONT CHANCE IT!!!!! SEEM LIKE THEY WANT TO KEEP YOUR ANIMAL CHRONICALLY ILL, SO AS TO KEEP YOU COMING BACK -Chris
