I am very happy to be able to put my thoughts and comments about Valley Brook Veterinary Hospital in writing. My husband and I are the proud "parents" of three cat babies. We have been going to Valley Brook for many years and have nothing but kind words about the staff and service. They are ALWAYS friendly and helpful. They are very accommodating with making appointments and extremely understanding and calm when you have an emergency. I cannot say enough kind words about the ladies up front. They are always smiling and friendly and are willing to answer your questions. They are truly an asset to this facility. The doctors there are patient and take their time examining your pet. They never rush you and make sure to answer all your questions. We have nothing but high praises for Dr. Riskin and Dr. Meltzer-Press. Both doctors are extremely knowledgeable and we trust them completely. We have recommended multiple families to this office and have heard nothing but wonderful reviews. We have cats that require special care so we frequent Valley Brook often. The staff greet us and our pets warmly and genuinely care about the well being of their patients. This is not just a job for them. They are truly animal lovers. We suffered a sudden loss of our beloved cat and I can say that every one of the staff was grieving with us. They were compassionate and caring and we will never forget that. Please dont miss the opportunity to meet these incredible people.

I am very disappointed with this practice. Dr Riskin pushed me to have my dog vaccinated with leptospirosis vaccine which makes my dog very sick. Unexplained fever, elevated liver enzymes , significant weight loss, depression. After blood work was done I called this office multiple times to talk to dr Riskin about blood work results. From 9 am till 2:45pm. Finally he called me back and couldnt explained to me what is going on, stating that my healthy one year old dog probably was born with damaged liver. I am a nurse and understand basic things like elevated liver enzymes dont go together with elevated temperature . He could get me an answer. But offer me to call him back anytime if I have more questions. I did my research and talked to other people who gave this vaccine to their dogs which make them sick with similar symptoms . Some dogs never recovered from this vaccine. I called him back same evening and ask secretary for him to call me back. He never call me back which only proves his incompetence and also disrespect to me as his customer. The knowledge of this vet practice is outdated or it is dirty money making business . In anyway it is not what I want for my 2 dogs and a cat.

We have been married for 49 years and have always had 2 or 3 dogs at a time. Our current dogs, Abby and Daisy, have been taken care of by Dr. Risken and the two other Doctors, they are 12 and a half years old now and have lived the longest of all the dogs that weve had and I believe its because of the care that they have received at Valley Brook by Dr. Risken and the entire staff. As soon as I see any change in their behavior, I call and bring them in. Both dogs currently are on medication, Daisy for an enlarged heart which she has had now for several years and Abby who had a torn ACL and was operated on several years ago. You would never know that there was something wrong with her back leg. When Dr. Risken does blood work on either dog, I hear from him the next day. Some of my own doctors dont even do that. I consider Dr. Risken an excellent doctor and both he and his staff are very caring and concerned and make us feel special that were not just another patient. I would definately recommend Dr. Riskin and Valley Brook Veterinary Hospital for your animals health needs.

Both Valley Brook Hospital and Dr. Greg Riskin are simply instrumental to our well-being. For the past thirteen years they have taken care of our dogs with compassion, promptness and thoroughness. The office staff is unfailingly courteous, responsive and affable. They all show affection towards their patients. Each phone request of ours has had a positive follow-up. And Dr. Riskin - he is a superb doctor and a wonderful human being. I specifically remember him calling us at 3:00AM, after a lengthy surgery on our dog, to update us. (We did ask him to call us at any time at all.) The same humanity and compassion he has for humans he has for the pets under his care. No dog of ours has cringed at his touch, whether it was the first one or the hundredth. He truly makes our lives better, as we know that our beloved pets well being is in good hands.

The staff at Valley Brook Veterinary Hospital are very friendly and caring. I have taken my last three dogs there. The Doctors have taken care of the primary veterinary care as well as treated two of my dogs for pancreatitis, a sprained back(possible slipped disk) and removed growths, dentistry,CHF, etc. They also have in house appointments with traveling specialists for ultrasounds, echo-cardiograms and specialty surgeries like cruciate ligament repairs. They can do onsite blood work and or send it out for further testing. They communicate well and they request updates on how the patient is responding to care and will do referrals to specialist hospitals for unresponsive or extreme cases. Dont be surprised if you have a half an hour wait and someone walks in with a pet rat. It happens.

I initially tried Valley Brook because I was trying to find a Veterinary Hospital that offered a more reasonable rate for spaying my newly adopted kitten. They were extremely accommodating and allowed me to leave her longer than usual because of my work schedule. I am now taking both my cats to Valley Brook and have been very pleased with how friendly and accommodating the staff and doctors are. Recently I had to bring in my older cat, who is very sick and basically had stopped eating, causing him to lose a lot of weight. The doctor made some recommendations that have really helped and hes now eating, which is helping to keep him more comfortable. I highly recommend Valley Brook to any pet owner.

Valley Brook Veterinary Hospital is my go-to venue for any pet related check ups or emergencies. They know what theyre doing, take the time to get to know your animals, are easy to book an appointment with, and will follow up with you on the phone to see how your little guy is doing. Ive taken my cat to Dr. Riskin two major times - to get neutered and for a bite wound - he always talks me through my options and answers every crazy random question I come up with. Weve also seen Dr. Rosenbaum and Dr. Meltzer-Press for recheck visits, both doctors plus all the vet techs were very kind and professional. Definitely check them out if you are in the area, I wouldnt go anywhere else!

Love Valley Brook Vet Hospital! Each and every staff member is not only professional and courteous, but a true animal lover. They are extremely competent and caring and take excellent care of our pups. One of the many things that I love is that while there have been opportunities to make extra money from us - for example providing us a DNA test for one of our pups - we have always been given honest guidance that often precludes Valley Brook from charging a lot more. In the DNA instance it was simply that we could get it done cheaper from an online commercial vendor. I totally recommend Valley Brook Vet Hospital without qualification, a super outfit.
