Terrible first (and last) impression. My wife set me up with an appointment for a quick review to be sure that no moles or spots were a concern. Since this was my first appointment, she specifically requested that I be seen by the Doctor, not by an assistant. She scheduled herself for the same purpose at the same time, so we could be seen together and kill two birds with one stone. Appointment was for 12 PM, so that I wouldnt miss too much work. We arrived promptly at 11:50 and filled out our paperwork. Note: Parking lot is tiny (maybe 8-10 spots), but I was lucky to get the last spot. Pity the next in line. We waited until 12:30 in the waiting room (yes, 30 minutes), then we were pleased to be called into an exam room. The assistant began taking down more info, right before another assistant burst the door open with no warning (Am I asking too much for a knock when were in for full body exams?) and asked for a chat in the hallway. The first gave us gowns and told us to disrobe and wait. The two left, and we waited. And waited. at 12:50 two different assistants came in and started asking questions. My wife told her that we had requested the doctor specifically, so the assistant shut her book and said that we would need to wait. My wife asked when the doc would arrive, and the girl smiled at us and said "Its up to her..." and shut the door. At 1:10, yes, 70 minutes after arrival for my appointment, I told my wife that I was leaving. I was livid. I had missed a 1:00 appointment with one of MY customers, and she had missed a scheduled 1:00 conference call. She pleaded with me to stay 5 more minutes. I agreed and stared a burning dagger into my watch for 5 more gut wrenching, blood pressure skyrocketing minutes. When I announced that had now racked up 75 minutes of sitting and waiting, half naked, for the great Dr. McCormack, we both stood up, dressed, and left the room. At the front desk, we demanded our $70 copay back ($35 per person). As we waited for them to reverse the card transaction, my wife explained to the receptionists what a major disappointment the experience was, and that they needed to cut back on the double bookings. The receptionist apologized, and agreed with the overbooking, but her answer was "We only do what the Doctor tells us to do." She handed us the refund slip, and I checked my watch: 1:30. Bottom line - My opinion is that if youre retired and need to catch up on a 1000 page novel, have no hobbies or obligations, and dont mind dealing with an indifferent staff and a Doctor more focused on billing than on customer service, then this is a fantastic choice for you. If youre a professional, an active person, or if you have an ounce of respect for your own time, then stay far away from McCormack. I spent an hour and a half of my life in her office and never actually met or saw her. As a business owner and fanatic about customer service, I take it very very personally when another business doesnt meet the level of customer service that I deliver day in and day out. Whether its a sandwich shop, a gas station, a cable company, or in this case a dermatologist, I expect that anyone happy to take my money should treat me with a higher level of respect than I received from the doctor or the staff.

This was perhaps THE MOST TERRIBLE VISIT to a doctors office EVER! Save yourself the time and STAY AWAY. I wish I would have read the reviews before I made the appointment. This woman may be a great doctor, but she runs a terrible practice. She has no care about her patients time - double booked every 10 minutes- Like a factory. I booked an appointment for a yearly checkup to review moles for both my husband and I. I specifically asked to see the dr - not a physicians assistant. After waiting 50 minutes after our appointment time, a pa and her assistant came in the room as if she was in a rush- no bedside manner whatsoever. I asked if the dr was coming in and she said she was there in place of the dr. (Unless I only want to see the dr). I asked how much longer and she smiled and smugly said "however long it takes her to get here". I told her we wanted to see the dr. With an attitude, she closed her book and left the office. We then continued to wait another 25 minutes before getting dressed and leaving the office. We went to the front desk to ask for our copay back and explained our terrible experience. Ive asked the desk why they double book appointments and their response was " we dont make the rules, we only do what we are told". It is clear that dr McCormack has no regard for anyones time but her own. I live 2 miles from her office, and will never step foot in it again. As I said, this is no reflection on her competence as a doctor, because I never got to experience it. But as a business, it is terrible.

These are the words of patient JANET E. TWEED (Janet is nearly blind, suffering from macular degeneration): From my experience today, I would recommend going elsewhere. Two reasons. 1.) They wouldnt let me see a doctor. 2.) They wouldnt listen to my description of my symptoms. When I made my appointment, I was careful to specify that I wanted to see Doctor McCormac - not a Nurse Practioner. Three years ago I had a bad experience with a Nurse Practioner at Doctors McCormacks office, and I wanted to avoid that. But when I went into the examination room today, I was told by the Nurse Practioner that Doctor McCormack was too busy to see me. "Too busy" after waiting three weeks for an appointment and clearly stating that I wanted to see a doctor, not an apprentice. I have a medical problem, not a cosmetic one. When I tried to describe my problem, the Nurse Practioner was strident and insistent in interrupting my every sentence. Her examination was cursory - quick and superficial. I was never asked to remove my clothes. When I insisted on describing the symptoms that the Nurse Practioner seemed to be ignoring, she commented, "You obviously dont like me!" Sorry, I didnt go to the doctors office to make friends, but to get a diagnosis for what is a very troubling skin condition.

I have tried many dermatologists and am beyond happy here. I have been a patient here for many years and am very surprised by some of the poor reviews left previously. I know that anyone can have a bad experience at some point but I never have. I visit the office at least twice a year for check ups and several times in between for minor procedures. I have seen Dr. McCormack on one or two occasions and shes been great. What keeps me coming back are the PAs. They are AMAZING!!!! I like to see Kristen but have seen all of them and you cant go wrong. They are thorough, patient, knowledgeable, kind. They are highly skilled and know what they are doing. I think some people are nervous to see the PAs and think theyre getting second hand care by non doctors. This is not the case! If they needed to run something by the clincian, they would. Youre in great hands with this office. The receptionists are friendly and attentive (not the norm these days), the wait in the waiting room and exam room is minimal (not the norm these days), and the care provided is top notch. Kristen is only in the PPB office on Wed and even though I live in PP, Id travel to the Staten Island office just to see her there. Thank you for taking such good care of my skin!!!
