My companions have been following Dr. Haupt and her two colleagues for many years. We are delighted that they opened a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility in Shrewbury. The entire facility is immaculate, from the customer restrooms, the waiting room, the nicely planted entranceway with seasonal flowers.....we cant say enough. Now onto their skills......They are the type of vet that spends quality time examining your pet, but listening to YOU as well. They each possess excellent clinical skills which allow them to diagnosis on physical exam, not by relying on expensive tests like so many doctors do. Dont get me wrong, they have all the equipment on-site for the detailed work-up, but will not suggest it if it is not truly required. They treat a wide variety of animals from the type with feet to those with wings. Care given on the exotics is above average. I recently brought my parrot in suspecting that he was biting himself. Dr. .Haupt and Kathy (Aviary Expert) were able to hold the parrot and determine he had an ingrown feather that was bothering him. Within seconds it was removed and the parrot immediately felt better. Just to be on the safe side, PO antibiotics and a topical spray were prescribed. The following the day, much to my surprise, I received a call from Dr.. Haupt and her Medical Assistants inquiring as to the condition of Luke! One last thing....so many times I find that I have misplaced my pets vaccination records. Happy Tails is all computerized so you have access to your records 24/7, once you receive a secure password for their IT personnel. If this wasnt good enough, you can also book appointments on line too! Did I mentioned they make house calls? :-) You dont have to believe a word I am saying, but if you love your pet, and want what best for them AND your wallet, youll immediately have your records transferred to their practice.

While the facility was clean and the clerks were friendly, I wasnt happy with the fact that initially I saw one Vet and every other time I had to see another. When you have a very sick animal and you go over his history, provide an overview of his personality and fears you feel that you, the vet and animal have built a rapport, a bond if you will. You feel comfortable with that person! Fast forward, we made the difficult decision to put our dog to sleep. The day of the appointment we were called and the appointment was changed so we wouldnt have to wait. We waited over an hour. My dogs anxiety level was through the roof. Finally, we are called into the room and the Vet comes in with little said, she puts a muzzle on my dog injects him and it was over. I had never had to do this before so I didnt know what to expect. I certainly didnt expect this. My dog was so warm and friendly and he died without dignity thanks to Dr. Haupt. It was the coldest experience ever. Sterling was treated like a procedure not like family and in the end we felt wed failed him by entrusting his final moments to them. He certainly deserved so much better. Its been over a week and I could just kick myself, not because we decided it was time because we knew it was but because we chose you to provide a service that required sensitivity and compassion both of which you, Dr. Haupt unfortunately lacked.

I was looking for veterinary services in my area after I moved and the Happy Tails sign on RT 35 happened to catch my eye. When my dog, Rascal, needed treatment for itching around her ears and face, I gave them a call. I was able to bring her in that day and we saw Dr. Rovere. The staff, including Dr. Rovere, was very professional and personable. I thought Dr. Rovere was exceptional. She explained everything she was doing as she examined Rascal. Rascal received a shot to stop the itching short term and I was given detailed instructions on the use of two other medications to clean the ears and treat the yeast infection in one ear. I had no idea that the nozzle on one medication could be inserted so deep (1 inch) into Rascals ear to get the medication where it needed to be. Dr. Rovere reassured me that I could not damage her ear drum because the anatomy of a dogs ear is very different than humans. I followed the instructions and Rascals ears are looking very healthy after two weeks of treatment. I found their fees to be reasonable for the area we live in. I was also pleased that she did not mention getting Rascals teeth cleaned or try to sell me any additional pet food products. Im very satisfied and will be using Happy Tails veterinary services for all of Rascals health issues.

It saddens me deeply that Mrs. Warren gave such a poor review of our facility. I know she is deeply grieving over the loss of her beloved Sterling but I guess she fails to remember the kindness and compassion she received when she brought a hairless, anxious dog to me the first day. Due to the severity of Sterlings illness she was given far more time than the allotted 20 minute appointment to express her concerns and we worked together to develop a plan of action. Finances were a concern for the Warrens, I dug deep into my brain to figure out the best ways to diagnose Sterlings problem. When we discovered Sterling had diabetes I informed her of the most economical place to purchase insulin and syringes. When she was unable to give the injections because Sterling was biting her husband we did not judge but understood her plight. She may also remember how we spoke on the Fourth of July when the office was closed. I even called her from home to try to accommodate her needs as best as possible. She also assured me that although she and made the decision to put Sterling to sleep when she was ready to get her new bundle of joy that she knew a wonderful veterinarian to take her to. Sincerely, Dina A Rovere. VMD Happy Tails Vet Hospital

My dog was suffering from chronic ear pain. He was treated by the rescue shelter vet twice, and once I adopted him, he was treated twice at a holistic center. Unfortunately, he was still in pain. I made an appointment with Dr. Rovere based upon a recommendation. Dr. Rovere investigated Baxters prior treatment, and she did a culture. Based on the results, she prescribed both topical and oral medication. I am very happy to report that Baxter has been pain free for over a week, and he seems to be on his way to a complete recovery. The doctors and staff at Happy Tails are gentle, loving people, dedicated to the welfare of their patients. I think it is safe to say, we have found the best physical and emotional care for Baxter.

Very warm, friendly, caring place, right from the start. Showed genuine concern and very gentle with my cat. Understood I was working with a budget (who isnt, even when it comes to health) and made a plan that was right for me. Of course, with the recommendation that if anything else happens, we would have to go more aggressive. But, was so kind and willing to work with me. Giving the best treatment for what was NEEDED at the time, not trying to upsell expensive and unnecessary treatments. Prices are reasonable given the area. Would have cost be double at other vets. I love this place and they have made me a happy customer and my cat a happy patient. Will be coming for life, and when needed, so will my other kitty.
