More than 20 years ago, I was fortunate to find Dr. Saslow and the Baldwin Animal Hospital for my past and present dogs. I have had many good experiences, but would like to present my greatest experience - Dr. Saslow saved my dogs life in October, 2013. Jerry was acting strange, couldnt seem to move, and was hyperventilating, just minutes after chasing squirrels around the yard. When I called the office, I was immediately taken in and told the doctor was in surgery. The staff quickly realized that this was an emergency, and in no time Jerry was x-rayed, medicated for pain. Several staff members were surrounding Jerry, comforting him. I was quickly told that Jerry was critical - a tumor in his spleen had ruptured and he was bleeding internally. Jerry needed surgery, and Dr. Saslow told me that this type of surgery often does not have a good outcome. Dr. Saslow remained in touch with me several times that day and even called me after hours to tell me that Jerry was doing his usual singing (Jerry likes to howl, often, for no apparent reason.) Not only did he do well, he was attempting to chase squirrels again 3 days after surgery and it was difficult to get him to rest! I commend Dr. Saslow for his honesty, his surgical expertise, and his vast knowledge of veterinary medicine. He is always kind, and his staff is always accommodating. They are affectionate with the animals, have laughed and cried with me over the years, and the majority of his staff has been with him for several years, which in itself speaks volumes. 3+ months later, Jerry is still chasing squirrels!

This place caters to people who like being surrounded by ingratiating staff, unfortunately there professionalism does not necessarily extend to their knowledge on common medical issues that plague so many of todays pets such as allergies. For exampe, after notifying the employees that my dog suffers from allergies, Dr. Saslow tried to sell me a flea prevention product when most vets and vetinary books suggest stopping these products until the pets health improves. Furthermore, she is a small 5 pound indoor white dog which is easy to see does not suffer from any fleas. Then he encouraged me to try Hills Prescription Diet when studies demonstrate that this food is inadequate for maintaing dogs health and if my memory serves me correctly, also contains corn which is known food to cause difficulty in allergic dogs. My favorite part was when he took her in another room to run tests on an ear infection so he could provide her with the correct treatment which turned out to be a broadspectrum bacteria/yeast. Really? Couldnt he have swabbed the ear and done the culture afterward like most vets do? hmmm... The favorite was the large bill. Wait, did i mention the ear infection came back a week later? I got Zymox ftreatment rom Amazon for 9 dollars and she has been great for months.

We have been going to Dr Saslow for more than a decade. Switching from our regular vet after he graciously extended an invitation to my eldest daughter Melissas Girl Scout Troop to tour the facility to earn their Animal Care Badge! We have had our animal familys share of good and bad health problems throughout the years, All Treated with Respect and Compassion by everyone at Baldwin Animal Hospital. Last year we lost our beloved boy Buddy from Lymphoma, and I dont know how we would of gotten through that time without the help and support from Dr. Saslow, Dr. Munroe, Debbie,Tyler, Ruthie, Jeannie, Michelle and the rest of the staff. Remi, just got a clean bill of health after Dr Saslow inspected a mass in her lower lip at her yearly check up. After clearing his schedule to preform surgery a few days later, we had the happy report of its being benign by the end of the week! I highly recommend Baldwin Animal Hospital. Their medical knowledge is extensive, their smiles are wide, the office is clean and their hearts are huge! Sincerely, Barbara Garrett

Dr. Saslow and his team are top notch! I started taking my dog to him when we moved to LI from NYC because he was local but even after moving away I still take my dog to Dr. Saslow. He cares about you and your pet and understands animal medicine. I had occasion to have to visit a specialist and the specilist said that Dr. Saslow is one of the finest veterinary diagnosticians hes ever met. High praise coming from a specialist! Each of the staff members seems to truly love animals and gets to know your pet. They always ask about mine when I call to place an order for food or supplies and I love that whenever I bring my dog in because somethings wrong, the staff calls the next day to check up on her. I highly recommend Dr. Saslow and Baldwin Animal Hospital. Jeff Goldberg

Our family has been with Dr. Saslow and his great staff at BAH for just about 20 years now. We are always pleased with the level of care that our animals receive whether its for a general check up, or a procedure that may require keeping the animals over night. I know they are always in the most capable hands and of course as a crazy pet owner that they are getting some love and attention when not in my care. I am always impressed as to how much Dr. Saslow and his staff keep up with the latest advances in medicine. This allows us as pet owners to make more informed decisions when we know about newer treatments,surgeries and testing. If you are looking for a vet for your furry babies I recommend trying Baldwin Animal Hospital..

Dr. Saslow is a gem of a vet! He always takes his time and truly seems to care about my dog (and my previous dog, who he was amazingly compassionate about when the time came for her to transition to the next life) and me. When needed he has referred me to specialists and one told me "Youre lucky to have Dr. Saslow as your vet...hes the best diagnostician I know." The staff is also terrific! Friendly and caring. I moved from the neighborhood but still bring my dog to Dr. Saslow when needed because I trust him. If your pet is simply a pet you can go anywhere, however, I highly recommend Dr. Saslow and Baldwin Animal Hospital to anyone who loves their pet like a family member.

Instead of treating my 13 yr old peeka-poo like he was already dead (as other vets did), he got right down to the heart of the matter, with a proper diagnonsis. Everyone else tried to put an expiration date on my dog, this vet did not. Additionally, the vet himself called me to inform me of his diagnosis and waited patiently for me to understand all of the facts, as well as medications I would now use to treat my dog. The staff is incredibly attentive, helpful and sweet, that includes everyone from the receptionist, to the vet tech to the vet himself!!! Im so grateful to have found this practice, thank you!!!!

I have no clue how anybody can leave a good review for this horrible place..First of they do not care about your pet at all..only the money. There take smiles I can see right through..They did some surgery on my dog and it was done so bad i have to go to another place to have it done right. They overcharge and then do a horrible job. My dog is so traumatized of that place now..when I showed the Dr the problem he didnt car ad rushed me out the door to see another vet since now he got my money. DO NOT GO THERE TRUST ME..I never leave reviews this is my first one. I had to leave to aware the public.
