As a dr myself I understand the strains of a practice. I was however disappointed in the excessively long waits prior to appointments - even when we scheduled the first appointment of the day the wait was not less then 1 hour. I could understand if it were a practice where emergencies were common and can easily throw a wrench in a schedule. But how many dermatology emergencies are there? I found the examinations to be brief at best. Some of the staff knew what they were doing, but others were no help at all when trying to get answers over the phone. I didnt get a feeling that the office staff really cared. Correct medication was scripted and my sons skin condition did resolve, but it does not take a genius to diagnose and resolve acne - I wouldnt return with a more complicated case.

I am not sure what kind of experiences the other people have had, but I have been a patient of Dr. Rau and her physican assistant for over two years now. I have never had a problem or a long wait. I first went to have some skin tags removed and recently I went for dry scalp issues. The office is professional and quick, and I am not looking for a best friend and an hour long examination. If you can get me in and out and prescribe the right thing, I am all for that. With my work I have seen the physican assistant lately. (Sorry but I dont have her name handy), but again I have not ever had a problem, and I do recommend them.

Staff was kind and concerned BUT Dr.Rau was uncaring and angry . She rushed me and did not care at all about any of my symptoms caused by my skin condition. My pcp had her on a list of dermatologist they gave and I will be letting them know they should NEVER recommend her! The only reason I am even giving 2 stars instead of a 1 or less if I could, is because her staff seemed genuinely concerned. SHAME ON DR. K. RAU!!! I will be also contacting the hospital, UPMC, that she is affiliated with...if UPMC is concerned with the quality of their care as a business, she should be fired!

Upon the several weeks of insistence to see a dermatologist by my significant-other about an odd skin development on my body , an appointment with Dr. R office was made and thereafter upon her observations she first thought it to be benign then asked me if wanted it removed. Got that? She asked me. I replied yes. A specimen of my odd skin development was biopsied and shown to be precancerous.

Loved her. I did wait 15 minutes but she was patient with me. She answered all of my questions, took a biopsy of a mole that looks funny and discovered a possible pituitary problem that I have by asking some questions after she noticed some hair above my belly button. Then she made sure I didnt have any other questions before I left. I was in and out within an hour.

I was seen today by Dr. Rau. I made the appointment only a week ago, so there was really no wait to be seen. I arrived 15 minutes before my appointment to fill out the new patient forms and was seen right on time. Dr. Rau answered all of my questions, she was thorough in her examination, and very personable. I would recomend her and Ill see her next year.

Very easy appointment with lots of good answers and real responsiveness from the doctor and staff. She is the best dermatologist I have met in Pittsburgh (my 6th!!!!) and I am going back for some laser work. I was almost scared off by the bad reviews, but what I experienced was top notch.

Generally very disappointed with the long wait times, gloss over appointments, follow-ups with no action, and being referred elsewhere when any effort is needed. The support staff is good - much better with people than the doctor. Given the many choices, I would look elsewhere.

Easy appointment scheduling. Had a pleasant visit, with the doctor. My particular issue (acne), was promptly diagnosed, and I was given the appropriate medication. Quite confusing to see unfavorable reviews? My experience was anything but. Would definitely recommend!

I saw Dr. Rau for two issues. She prescribed some expensive medications. When I reported no improvement, she failed to offer alternative treatment. The last time I saw her, she actually scoffed at me. My experience was a waste of time and money.

Hated that I had to pull my daughter from school early to sit in her waiting room for over an hour and to sit in the exam room another 45 mins before seeing her. Then she gives us 2 minutes for a recheck appointment and is out the door! Very rude!

the office staff has no desire to help anyone whos insurance doesnt go perfectly..... nasty tone (Linda?) and strong unwillingness to help......... doctor should be ashamed.

I thank God I found Dr. Rau & you will be too just do what she tells you.
