i went to this doctor in august for a sudden adult acne outbreak 9 months following the birth of my daughter. To begin with, not a single person in his staff looked up for several minutes while I stood at the desk waiting to check in. I finally asked where I check in and the one nurse slid a clipboard from the other side of the partition without even looking up. After I was moved to a room, the doctor came in, didnt even examine my skin before he was writing prescriptions and on his way out the door. On top of that, he didnt ask about my medical history or whether i was still nursing my child (which i was) and all the prescriptions he was recommending werent approved for breastfeeding mothers. When I asked him to hear about my medical history (what has worked in the past, what hasnt) he got up and walked to the door to try and sell me the clarisonic which i instucted him i already had. He told me i must have the "cheap" version or I was using it incorrectly. My experience only got worse after my 2 month follow up. The doctor was running already 20 minutes behind after an 8 a.m. appointment time, then proceeds to walk past me in the waiting room, hop in his car and drive off with no explanation. After another 20 minutes, the nurse put me in a room and told me he would be back in a minute. An hour after my appointment was to begin, I walked out and told the receptionist that i would not wait any longer and that i wanted a copy of my medical records to see another practice. This is where she proceeded to tell me that they DO NOT give copies of my medical records to me, the patient. I would need to pay a referral fee once i got in with another doctor and then they would fax the paperwork to them. I had to remind her about HPAA laws, and only then did she get up from the desk, mumbled under her breath and threw the paperwork at me. No one in this office apologized or gave any explanation. I am still dumbfounded and will be contacting someone to further research the ethics and practices of this Dr. since it seems i am not alone with my experience.

With two parents in nursing for more than 35 years, I am opinionated, unforgiving, and have high expectations of physicians. I say without pause that Dr. Niren is the best dermatologist - of a total of 4 in various cities in which I lived - and one of the finest physicians, in general, that has ever treated me! Dr. Niren has a BRILLIANT mind, does not practice medicine "with blinders on" as many specialists tend to do in their respective fields, and when an in-office procedure is necessary, Dr. Nirens technique is fast, clean, and painless. At the office, I never wait more than 10-15 minutes to be seen by Dr. Niren, and both his nurses and technicians are knowledgeable, kind, and attentive. He is always available to patients, especially in the most urgent situations, often agreeing to "squeeze" an appointment into his already-packed schedule simply because of concern for his patients and passion for his profession. In addition to my experiences, every individual to whom I recommended Dr. Niren has called to thank me immediately after seeing him. Given his wide-range of expertise and treatment areas within the larger practice of dermatology, I recommend patients of all ages with any relevant ailment to contact Dr. Niren for consultation. I cannot provide enough positive feedback of this terrific doctor!

I have been a patient of Dr. Nirens for almost 25 years. He is professional in manner and highly intelligent. During the years, Dr. Niren has treated me for numerous basal cell carcinomas. The results have been both medically and cosmetically successful. Dr. Niren is attentive and compassionate, and has always exercised great wisdom and skill in addressing my medical concerns. Dealing with unexpected carcinomas is frightening and anxiety producing. Dr. Niren and his staff have consistently gone above and beyond in extending immediate compassion, understanding, and encouragement. During my latest surgery for the removal of a basal cell carcinoma on my scalp, Dr. Niren stayed during his lunch hour and checked on me various times as we waited for lab results. He was very serious and focused, and caused me to feel as though he was treating a member of his own family. I am certain the vast majority of his patients hold him in the same regard. His knowledge and insights in medicine are quite astonishing and his ability to show both compassion and understanding in the medical concerns of the patient is most evident.

This doctor was rude and arrogant. He was not welcoming, he looked at the skin on my face and said "ok we got some things for you " and started to write prescriptions as he walked at the door. He then sent a nurse to tell me all the information and prescriptions and then try to sell me a vibrating scrub brush for $175. I then asked to have him come back to look at the skin on my arms because I didnt know he wasnt coming back. I had to wait 15 mins for him to come back. He was very rude to me and yelled at his own staff for bothering him to come back to see me and not having the papers and samples ready to give me. You know, so he can move people out the door faster... It was unprofessional! I wont be going back.

My mother went to see Doctor Niren, he was basically scoldong her about using a medicine that a different doctor prescibed. She first went to her pcp then emergency room and next dr. Niren for answers and his opinion, ( which she thought would be right on) Her rash was not clearing up so went to see him and left w/ a new prescription but very discissed with him after he used his time with her to scold her! Basically he was telling her that she should have not listened to both prior doctors. Ladies in front office schedule her for next week well she will be cancelling. I feel sorry who has to work with him.

Dr. Niren is one of the most empathetic and brilliant physicians I have ever known. He is a researcher and an individual who truly gives his whole being to the problems of medicine whether it is in the field of skin cancer or cardiology. I totally trust and believe in his wisdom. He has been not only a highly competent doctor but also a gentle man whom I could discuss medical issues with....and know that his decisions were right. He saved me with his decisions when I needed help. He was never too busy to help. Dr. Niren is an invaluable human being and doctor.

I have been a patient of Dr Niren for the past 18 years. He is extremely thorough in his exam and he stays current with the absolute latest medical therapies. When I have asked for some cosmetic treatments, he has been honest enough to tell me to hold off on treatments when he felt my cosmetic treatments were still working. This is unique. A lot of doctors I have been to, would have done the cosmetic procedures for money. I have sent both friends and family to him as patients and they are all extremely satisfied.
