Our previous vet had given us false hope that our dogs issues were treatable and could be managed while racking up a several hundred dollar bill and prescribing medications that only made our poor dog sicker than we we took him in. So after speaking with a lady at Petsmart, she highly recommended taking our dog to VCA for a second opinion and Im so glad I took her advice. When I met with Dr. Brys, she was very straightforward with me in regards to our dogs health. She did not try to recommend a bunch of unnecessary expensive tests or treatments as she knew this was not going to benefit him. She was very honest and advocated that we consider euthanizing him within the next 24 hrs to put an end to his suffering. I explained that I was not in a place where I felt I could do this without our family being there for him and she understood. I took our fur baby home and after talking with my husband, I made the appointment for later in the evening. When we walked into the facility, it was clear that the front desk staff was watching for us. They directed us to their "comfort room" where we found a nice sofa with a blanket on it and a chair for our family to spend time with our dog. A vet tech came in and went over the paperwork and took our payment so we did not have to deal with that after the procedure. Dr. Brys joined us a short time later and she told us she was very happy to see we had made the decision because she knows that was in his best interest. She took the time to talk with our 10 yr old daughter and tried to comfort her through this difficult time by reassuring her we had made the best decision for him. My husband and son stayed with our dog during the procedure while I retreated with my daughter to the waiting room. The front desk staff were very compassionate, telling me they were so very sorry and bringing over boxes of tissues. They were so wonderful as my daughter and I cried together. After Dr. Brys finished the procedure, she came out and told us that our dog had passed very peacefully. She offered to stay with my daughter so I could go see our beloved dog one last time. She sat with our daughter and talked with her about everything. Our daughter decided to join the rest of our family in the comfort room for one last goodbye. They told us to take as long as we needed with him after everything was complete. Although it is the hardest thing we ever had to do, I could not have asked for a more caring and thoughtful group of people who helped us through this extremely difficult time. While our visit left us completely heartbroken, I am happy we took him to them. They were honest, caring, and compassionate and we could not have asked for anything more. We have decided to change over to their office for our other dogs health care.

I no longer take my animals here, but the veterinarians here are very good. Id still be a client if they werent so disorganized at the front office staff, granted I have more needs then most pet owners do, because I expect for my animal hospital to keep track of things like microchip numbers, when my animals are actually due for their shots, and submitting health results to places like OFA. I had x-rays lost for two weeks and was not told about the issue. The only way I found out was when I checked OFAs website and some of the x-rays had not been submitted at all. I called back in only to find that they had lost the x-rays. They scanned my dogs microchips but didnt record the number, so when I called to confirm them, I was told that information was not in the file. I was billed an extreme amount for a routine vet visit. The bill really was confusing, also. When I called back to ask what happened, I was told that the person inputting it made a mistake. I was refunded money, but it made me question their competency further. I kept receiving emails that my pets were due for things, when they werent. It was really confusing and it made it more difficult to keep track of which pet needed what done. I was told that only one heart worm test needed to be done per dog in my house hold, because if one had it they would all had it. Yet, they kept emailing me about my pets needing a heart worm test. Those tests are over 200.00 a piece. Whenever I would call, I would be put on hold and then minutes later someone would pick up and ask why I was calling. It was really ridiculous. Finally, I just had enough and left and found another veterinarian that was closer to home. Its a shame, because Ive taken pets there since 2006 and that place has really gone down hill lately.

My wife and I decided to board our cat for the weekend at VCA Sawmill while we were out of town for the weekend. Our cat was prescribed an oral pain killer from a Vet at VCA Sawmill and so to ensure she received her medicine we made the decision to board her there. When we picked her up we were given our bill, which included a fee for administering medication. We also received a paper that stated, "[Our cat] seemed a little nervous at first but warmed up very quick! Hope to see her again soon!" After paying our bill a member of the kennel staff informed us that our cat did not receive her medication because she attacked the staff. The staff member continued to say that the Vet made the decision to not administer the medication because she would not cooperate with the staff. She said that we should have received a phone call with these details. We did not. We demanded and received a refund. We later received a phone call from the Vet who admitted to us that she neglected to call us with the troubling details of our cats stay. Needless to say, we would have made new arrangements had we been informed of the situation. This is truly unacceptable behavior. I hope that this review will make you think twice before considering entrusting your pet to VCA Sawmills care.

When my dog Brutus broke his leg I was so distraught. Having rent due two days later did not help at all. Being the dog lover that I am I couldnt stand to see my puppy in pain and needing surgert. Tight for cash, Dr. Bando was super amazing and empathetic. He is one if the best vets ive ever taken my dog to and will continue to bring BOTH my dogs here. Molly also was really great. She treated my dog like one of her own and did everything she could to help. They even let me keep the cage I had been using for Brutus post surgery care. Dr. Bando is truly a caring compassionate veternarian and also very professional. I would definately recommend taking your animal here if you want the best care for your pet by a very caring and friendly staff. I cant thank them enough for everything they have done for us, and really hope they are reading this now. THANK YOU VCA SAWMILL!! Kecia & Brutus :)
