If you bring your pet here, please ask a million questions up front and have a clear understanding of what will happen, especially if you leave your pet with them. Both times I have brought Ariel in the end result was not what we discussed previously. The first time was for her dental cleaning. They called and said they were going to pull 4 teeth. When I picked her up they had pulled well over 10 teeth. This was likely necessary and so I didnt make it a big deal, but I would have liked some warning. Most recently I brought my Pomeranian in because she was having issues breathing through her nose. It all began after she threw up some grass so I was sure something was stuck. After the first visit they put her om Temaril P and after a week she was no better, and actually, worse. I brought her back in and requested that we sedate her and look to see what is bothering her. When Dr. Jodi called to let me know she was ready to be picked up she told me she did an x-ray also. I was a little put off by this because we didnt discuss any possibility of an x-ray being done. I mentioned this on the phone and she said dont worry we can discuss when you come in. I thought great they did it because they believed it was in the best interest of my dog and they arent concerned with the cost and werent going to have me pay for it since it wasnt authorized. When I showed up the amount of the visit was read off to me. I requested a print out so I could see the summary of charges. The x-ray was indeed on there so I requested to speak with the Dr. as I was told over the phone that would happen. Dr. Jodi came to the counter and didnt say much. I asked about the charge and let her know I was a little upset that they didnt just call me and get authorization especially for something dealing with radiation. She told me that was just silly and that wasnt the reason I was upset she knew it was just because of the cost. At this point I was completely insulted by her unprofessional actions and remarks. She then told me she had given me other discounts because she was being nice and was going to reverse those and take the x-ray charge off. The discount previously had been described to me as being because she was so small and now the story changed. It was clear that my pets health was not their main focus. I paid the revised bill and was sent on my way. Dr. Jodi didnt review any of the procedure with me or give me any details about following up or when I could expect my pet to feel better. Four days later on new medications and shes still no better and getting worse. I decided I would take her to another vet for a second opinion. This vet requested the x-rays that were done and they were told they needed to be picked up because they were hard copies not digital. I went over on my lunch break and was told "they dont have them." When I asked what she meant she went in back and came out and said they have them, but wont provide them since they werent paid for. Again, not my pets best interests in mind. I let them know I would rather pay the new vet for new x-rays and asked who the manager/owner of the clinic is. Of course, its Dr. Jodi. Unfortunately I found out too late my best friend had almost identical situations happen here, we will not be returning. I hope they enjoy the money they did get out of me without providing any relief to my dog.

Words cannot really express my gratitude towards the Eugene Animal Hospital. I researched whom would be most likely to be successful with my friend, Flo, in the realms of small animals and exotics. Eugene Animal Hospital popped up, and it was certainly the right choice. Flo is a spoiled, Organically fed and 25ft square foot outdoor pastured (with regular indoor home too!) Guinea Pig, aged 6 years old. Im very attentive to her, so I discerned relatively early on that she was in trouble, maybe ovarian cysts. Eugene Animal Hospital (EAH) was fast to schedule her, very reasonable on pricing, stood by their price quotes, accurate, compassionate, did I mention compassionate? and of course, most importantly, skilled. Flo stuck her foot out in her classic chill position when Dr. Jodi took her from me on the day of surgery. It was obvious she liked Dr. Jodi and felt comfortable and trust towards her. Great sign. Flo had a hysterectomy. At 6 years old. Thats real old in a guinea Pig. She had a tumor filling her uterus and an enlarged ovarian cyst. The surgery was a success, despite a bladder complication. When her GI stopped up a few days later, EAH saw her late in the day and immediately whisked her off for treatment and gave us meds that fixed her condition. Everything EAH did was directly in line with the best sources I could find for Guinea Pig vet information available to layman on the internet. Did I mention EAH called me twice to check up on Flo and offer to answer questions? Everyone in the office knew of her when I called or stopped by, and all expressed honest care and concern. People normally come to me in suffering, and look to me when animals and people die. Ive seen a lot more than your average bear... This was different than letting go, it wasnt time for Flo to go, and EAH conducted a small miracle.

I look for the full package when it cmes to my animals. I highly recommend the Eugene Animal Hospital. They have a fairly large, fully staffed clinic, excellent vets and excellent staff, from the receptionists to the technicians. I have been to MANY vets in the area looking for a permanent one for my animals, and Dr. Rena Cowen is excellent. I trust this clinic with my animals for complex prcedures down to simple vaccinations (as much as I can trust anyone with my pets), and I am very critical. Case in point- I went in with a potentially infectious cat and they had me g around and bring her into a seperate room used for animals that need to be quarantined so that she would not spread illness to other patients. And they were very attentive to us the entire time we were there, not leaving me alone in a room for long periods. They answered every question, and explained the medical side of things. Dr Cowen has been practicing veterinary medicine for over three decades- and she by all appearances is on top of the latest procedures.

Took fantastic care of my pet rat who need a tumor removed. Presented my with good information/prices about all of my options. Had decent prices and provided clear information about what expenses I was paying for. When there were complications after the surgery (my rat chewed her cut open) and I had to bring her back, they re-anesthetized her and put staples in her incision for no charge. Staff and vets there obviously care very much about the well-being of the animal, rather than just making money (gave follow-up calls to check on her, recognized her/knew her name when I brought her in, didnt overcharge and in fact performed some services free of charge). I highly recommend Eugene Animal Hospital, and would not go anywhere else.
