At first i did not have a problem with this vet when my cats were just needing there shots to be updated. But when my cat came out sores and bald spots on her and i took her there 3 times over the next few months they could not tell me what it was or any solution as to how to help her. I changed there food - the vet recommended a all wet food diet of rabbit to stop the throwing up but after much research i went with iams dry cat food as i do not believe an all wet food diet is healthy for them ( we switched from science diet - which they had been on since kittens to Iams) as she and her brother had stopped throwing up and her sores/bald spots had cleared up. we were so happy and thought nothing of it as she seemed in the best health she had ever been in, unfortunately we lost her this last week and we dont know why. I regret not taking to a different vet that might have actually helped her instead of sending her home saying they will go away by themselves.... maybe they would have caught what else was wrong with her and we would still have our beautiful little girl. I took our other cat to a different vet right away last week which was highly recommended to us by family to make sure he was ok they were shocked when i had told them about our experience at evergreen animal hospital and told us she should have had a full work up of bloods done to make sure there was no underlying condition causing the sores and a steroid shot for the sores to heal instead of leaving them that way for months on end. I guess in short i will never be taking my cat to this vet (evergreen animal hospital) again even though it is in town i will happily drive my remaining cat to Bremerton which is a lot out of the way to get best care for my baby i can... I only wish i had done this sooner

I tried to get an appointment for my lab and and they couldnt get me in on Friday or Saturday so the front desk booked me for Sunday afternoon. After waiting outside a locked door for 10 minutes after my appointment should have started, I asked the gal if seeing the vet on Sunday was more expensive than seeing the vet any other day of the week. She said yes (I feel like she should have said something when she offered the appointment). She said she would ask the doctor if he would just charge the regular fee instead of the Sunday fee since they couldnt get me in the other 2 days. He refused and said it would be the full charge or I can come back a different day. SHAME ON THAT VET! It is a simple eye infection and can wait for another day but thanks for wasting my Sunday. ALL HE CARED ABOUT WAS MORE MONEY AND TRIED TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF MY WALLET> >>ON a separate visit I had called in and needed more medication for my dogs reoccurring ear infection (most labs do since mine is a hunting dog). I told the front desk that I was sending my father in with my dog since I had to work. I told them all she needed was the meds and I didnt want to be sold on anything else. Later that day I found out that they sold my dad on a fecal exam, ear wash (which I already bought a huge bottle during the previous visit), and 3 vaccines. ALL ADDING UP TO OVER $360! They had informed him that she was due for her vaccines which is a complete lie! Her vaccines were good for a full year when I adopted her 8 months ago and had them give her the vaccines when I adopted her. I had 3-4 more months till she was due! They need more communication with their front desk staff and WATCH OUT SOME OF THE VETS WILL SELL YOU ON THINGS YOU DONT NEED!

The environment is very clean and tidy but the doctor wanted to do extensive biopsies and charge me over $800 for that. I asked what the protocol would be once they found out which auto immune disease my dog had. I was told prednisones would likely be prescribed. So I opted to just put him on prednisone rather than torturing him with five biopsies. As he was already in pain enough. After two days the prednisones was improving his condition and the suggestion was to apply a cream with a compound called Tacralimus. At first I was told by the vets office it would cost me $100. I was also told I would have to get it from a compounding pharmacy. When I spoke to the compounding pharmacy the price was $600. The vets office suggested calling several other pharmacies so they gave me numbers of other pharmacies to call. When I spoke to One of the pharmacies they told me the $600 price was for the brand-name product which is not a compounded product its manufactured. So it turns out the compounded product is only $100. When I spoke back to the folks at Evergreen veterinary they said they were not comfortable with prescribing the compounded product they wanted me to spend $600 on the brand-name product. When I told them I could not afford the $600 they said they couldnt be of service to me anymore.

Ive had three out of the four doctors at Evergreen treat my cats, and each has been wonderful in different ways. Ill always have a special fondness for Dorothy Kielkopf, because we just hit it off so well, and she was the first vet I had in the area after moving from California. Shes seen Teddy through UTI problems and a car accident that broke his jaw. Brian Kane literally saved Teddys life by going the extra distance in finding a specialized surgeon who could do a pretty complicated reconstruction of Teddys urethra, after an emergency vet (before Evergreen had Sunday hours) tore a hole through his urethra with a catheter. Liana Hankwitz is new to me, but she could draw on the good records Evergreen keeps on my cats to know what to do when Teddy had another bout of his sneezing fits (from the feline equivalent of chicken pox that manifests as a cold). I havent mentioned Fin, my younger cat, because except for routine exams, hes been a hale and hearty--if often grumpy--boy. But if and when he needs care, Ill call Meghan and make an appointment.

I have been taking my pets to Evergreen since I moved to Gig Harbor over 10 years ago. They have always treated my babies and me very well. Recently, I became unable to walk and have been in a wheelchair for 7 months now. When I needed to take my oldest baby, Bella, in I was worried about how I would manage. They have a wheelchair ramp, but the bottom is an inch or so off the ground and I am by myself and couldnt maneuver the chair onto it. Well, the very kind front desk staff actually came out and lifted me and the chair onto the ramp and then pushed me the rest of the way. They also helped me back out when it was time to leave and put the wheelchair back into my car for me. And, when I needed to pick up more medicine for Bella a few days later, they brought it to me in the car. Furthermore, the doctor called to check on how Bella was doing. I have no complaints at all about them and only compliments instead.
