Second time was NOT the charm. I took my son there in 2011 because the facility had a great reputation and had eye therapy on-site. I was very happy with his first experience(which was a normal eye exam) and went back myself several months later for my own eye exam. When we needed a new eye exam in 2012, I was disappointed that they were not in my vision insurance network. As coincidence would have it he was referred back to them, which was covered by my medical insurance instead. My son had been having troubles with his eyes and was going to need the evaluation for an IEP at school. I was hoping Id have another good experience. The day of the exam, everything went well, and I asked for a written report for records at the school. I called three days later to inquire about getting it, and it still was not complete. I called again several weeks later and was assured it was being mailed to my house. When I had not received it several weeks later they told me they could mail it. Instead I insisted on picking it up. When I arrived at the office however it was not in his file. At that time I specified what I needed and why. I was very disappointed that 6 weeks had passed and the necessary written report was not in his file - I needed and asked for something other that physician shorthand on their report. I was told once again it would be written. Subsequent calls have been made and not returned and no paperwork has been sent. So if you need specific paperwork from the doctors there, my experience has proven that you will not get what is requested. It is now 7 weeks later and I am letting the school deal directly with the physician. I am uncertain however how they will possibly be able to remember my child and the outcome of the exam, which disappoints me greatly. I went there due to their experience, good reputation, my first experience and their ability to help beyond a simple eye exam. Chances are I will not go back, nor will I recommend them to friends who are in need of anything beyond a simple eye exam. ***UPDATE*** I finally did receive a full report on March 26, after the school was released to contact them - Almost two months after his exam. The paperwork was thorough, and helpful for his educational needs, although what was presented was not entirely as I remember it being presented at the appointment. It is entirely possible though that after his exam, some further thoughts may have come to mind. The physician that checked my son completed a thorough examination, answering all my questions along the way. From that standpoint I was happy. It was my delay in getting the paperwork that increased my frustration and made me incredibly unhappy with my experience. The physician did read my review and respond to it with a handwritten note apologizing for the untimely delay in getting the paperwork. Which was appreciated.

I have been going to Ann Arbor Optometry for the past few years. If it is your first visit you can download all the new patient forms from their website and fill them out ahead of time to save you time at the office. I have seen both Drs Curcione and Sorter and am happy with both of them. Ive always had very little wait time before my appointment. They take my insurance (Davis vision) and it seems like they have pretty big selection of frames. I cant comment on pricing since I took the basic Davis frames, but I was not pressured for any pricy add ons. I wear contacts and usually check out the online pricing before my appointment. Dr Curcione is always willing to work with me to make the price of ordering contacts through the office competitive to the prices offered online. The doctors are very knowledgeable about contacts and were even able to prescribe a special lens type for my eye with astigmatism (Ive worn contacts for years and they were the first to tell me these were available).

I followed Dr. Curcione from Bennett Optometry when she and Dr. Sortor opened Ann Arbor Optometry. On 2 separate occasions, they have fit me in on a moments notice for potential detached retina and a scratched cornea. Dr. Curcione remembers details of my eye care and prescriptions from years back, and has fine-tuned my glasses and contact lenses to accommodate advanced astigmatism and myopia. I am surprised to read that someone else had a problem with her glasses. I got a pair I was unhappy with because of the material I chose and they sent them back and re-did the composition of the lens so that they were more comfortable. Although they no longer accept my eye care coverage, I am going to stick with providers who respect me and take the time to explain whats going on with my eyes, no matter how technical.

Ive seen Dr. Curcione since her early days at Bennett optometry and followed her when she left. She is attentive, listens well and thinks (and studies) outside the box to arrive at the best solutions for her patients. When I had a questionable issue she referred me immediately to an ophthalmologist which was the right call. After receiving more extensive care I returned to Dr. Curcione for my regular care. I cant recommend her highly enough. As a nutritionist I especially appreciate that she keeps up with nutrition research as it relates to eye health and care.

I do not recommend Dr. Curcione at all if you value the health of your eyes. My eyes developed glaucoma under her care and my right eye so serious I have severe stage optic nerve damage. Thankfully, only mild stage glaucoma in my left eye.I saw her 3 times from July, 2012 to April, 2015. My tonometry increased from 19 to 36 in my right eye and 18 to 25 in my left eye. Not until I had optic nerve damage did she recommend I see a specialist. By then it was irreversible. I am stable with laser treatments and drops.

Being new to an area, you always hope to find quality health care when trying new providers. My experience was nothing but exceptional. From the start, ensuring insurance was activated, to the pre-exam,with a friendly associate, to the final exam and consult with the doctor, nothing could have gone any smoother or been more assuring that a great provider had been found. Highly recommended. Thank you to all.

Doctors ok. Office staff...horrible! I have had 5 mistakes/confusions dealing with insurance eligibility, billing, wrong amounts, wrong rebate info, etc. I have only been there for 2 exams. I gave them 2 chances, only to be very frustrated and disappointed. I hope they find new office staff soon and can train them properly. Good luck!

Called in early April to schedule an appointment as new patient and gave them necessary information. Show up about month later right on time and they have no record of my call or appointment or information. I show them the record of when I called, they said sorry. Would not recommend to any one.

Avoid if possible. Hours are irregular, Dr talked down to me, front desk screwed up my bill (i was overcharged and only found out that I had a credit on my account after calling them 2 months later). Their attitude towards me changed completely when I said I wanted to order from 1800 contacts.

Like another reviewer, I followed Dr. Curcione from Bennett Optometry. She has always been incredibly attentive to my eye needs and is willing to experiment with different things to ensure my vision is as good as it can be. Shes also a very nice person whos easy to work with.
