I cant say enough good things about Jason Villareal as a human being or a healthcare professional! He is that rare blend of professional and conscientious with a personal, human, caring touch. I was lucky enough to have him work with me and my myriad of physical challenges (from an old car accident, spinal surgery and current sedentary work environment). He combines cutting edge technology with innovative thinking to design a plan that will work best for you and your individual needs. There is nothing cookie cutter about his approach. He takes his knowledge and expertise to team with you in your own recovery. Until I met Jason, my physical therapy experiences had been, well, let’s just say less than helpful. I was leery but just from talking to him I knew this time would be different. He took into account my sometimes crazy seeming symptoms along with the tightness and knotted up muscle groups, as well as the hardware in my back and he successfully helped me strengthen, stretch and reduce my constant pain and gain mobility as well as build my physical tolerance for activities that I was struggling with. His passion to help and to make a difference combined with his genuine, caring nature make him an exceptional Physical Therapist! Jason treats the whole person by listening, educating, and partnering with the individual to best address their needs and get them back up and running stronger and better than they had ever been.

I have a low back injury (disc herniation) and aggravated this condition while lifting weights. I have never seen a physical therapist before and decided to give it a try. My goals were to seek help in developing a post-injury plan for rehab and to identify any weaknesses in my weightlifting technique and also any general postural/biomechanical issues that were contributing to a long-term susceptibility to injury. Jason Villareal provided high quality care and helped guide my recovery and also helped me make progress in accomplishing my other long term goals. I hope that I do not need to see a physical therapist again, but if I do I will definitely return to Therapydia Portland and Jason Villareal. He was always engaged during my visits and maintains a positive attitude. He is actively involved in crossfit in particular and athletics and fitness in general and so can meet you where you are regardless of your background or abilities. I recommend his practice to anyone who is working to become stronger and stay healthy.

I am so excited for Jason Villareal and his family and their move to Portland. Jason was my physical therapist in Coos Bay for approximately two years. I have a long time diagnosis of Degenerative Disc Disease and during one of my worst flare ups Jason was able to get my pain under control and got me back on track. I was struggling with my loss of athletic abilities. With his expertise, I was able to go back to the gym, swimming and running two miles a day! I still use the home exercises he gave me to ensure I keep on the right track. I had gone to PT many times over the last 20 years, but none with lasting results like the last few years with Jasons help. Please take the time to schedule a consult and meet Jason. He is so knowledgeable at what he does and is warm, sincere and encouraging in your pursuit of wellness. You will gain an incredible physical therapist and a coach that helps push you to reach your goals.

A few months ago, out of the blue, I started to have hip pain that ran down my leg while I ran. It got to the point where Id have to hobble home after two miles. I went to see Jay and he had me pretty much back to normal in two sessions. Being able to manage your own pain and perform maintenance on yourself is great, but you really do need an expert in anatomy to point you in the right direction. Id be sitting at home blindly stretching and using a cane in my late 20s if left to my own devices. Best of all, of all the things I read or people I talked to, Jay was the only person who didnt tell me to stop running. Instead of telling me to stop doing the thing I love, he helped me come up with a plan that worked with my schedule and my activities. He even texted me during the week to see how I was doing and motivated me to log some more miles! Nikki, the office manager is awesome and made scheduling a breeze!

I went to Therapydia on the recommendation of my podiatrist after the standard icing and stretches did nothing for my plantar fasciitis - in both feet. By that time I could barely walk the block from my car to the building without crying. Sabrina saved me. She analyzed everything about my stance, walk, and tight muscles to develop a holistic stretching plan from my glutes, and hamstrings, down to the bottoms of my feet. She worked with my eccentricities, such as not wanting to lie on the floor to stretch. She gave me multiple ways to stretch, and ways to stretch while doing regular activities, like watching TV, which have had the added benefit of eliminating ongoing problems with sciatica. She is excellent at the Astym soft tissue therapy method. The many tools she provided have allowed me to walk again, without pain. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Ive seen Jay for several types of injury, mechanical injuries from overuse and a traumatic injury from a motorcycle accident. He has gotten me through them quickly and with grace. What I appreciate about him is his ability to listen and hear what I say about my body and then to interpret what is happening for me. We spend time on the injury itself, but ultimately on reasons it happened in the first place. Often, posture and mobility are the culprits for me and Jay will walk through the mechanics of how my movement is working and gives me tools to improve it. Jay has a true healers nature. He was my physical therapist in Coos Bay, and now I drive four hours when I need to see him and it is always worth my time. In addition to all that, he is a very nice guy with a great attitude about life who likes to help people. He will help you too.

I was lucky enough to work for Jason in Coos Bay for two years. I had always been interested in physical therapy but hadnt had much experience in the field when he hired me, but within a week of being there I knew how lucky I was to have this opportunity. Every single day I saw him come into work with enthusiasm and excitement to help people. The range of patients we saw from infants, high school and college athletes, to people nearing 100 years old, was so broad. But with each and everyone he treated with the same effort and focus. And not only was his ability to make the aches and pains feel better beyond impressive, but his knack for connecting with patient on a personal level was amazing. I can honestly say every patient I saw leave was beyond satisfied. Jason is a wonderful therapist, leader, and teacher. I highly recommend him!

When Jay Villareal was practicing in Newport Beach, he was my go-to therapist. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable, but hes versatile and able to adapt his knowledge to each individual. He treated me for age related issues and always resolved my problem while educating me in the process. Hes comfortable treating clients of all ages and conditions from Little Leaguers to professional athletes to senior citizens. Any review you read about Jay will say, Im sure, that hes an extremely nice and empathetic person. He is a truly wonderful human being! I knew many of the therapists and aides in the Newport office, and each benefitted from knowing him and missed him when he left. Although Jay didnt treat me in this Portland clinic, I gave a 5 star rating. Jay is deserves more than 5 stars regardless of where hes practicing.
