I got my prescription here at the last minute to use up the rest of my flex spending account for the year. I was guided to a dingy room in the back of the store for the exam, which took less than 5 minutes. The selection was limited but I found something that I was okay with. After paying I asked for a copy of my presciption and pupilary distance and was told it would be a $25 professional service fee, even though it was all readily available information. Essentially, if you want to be able to buy glasses from anyone else they want $25 on top of the transaction you have already given them. The lady in the front is miserable as well, all three times I went into the store throughout the process. I learned to plan ahead a little in the future. This place is was awful. The prescription seems correct but this place was bad all the way around. They are counting on uninformed people walking in off of the street. Dont be the next sucker!

I had an eye exam and purchased one pair of glasses and received poor service every step of the way. The exam was less than thorough - over super quickly and not at all comprehensive. If you only have moderately bad eyesight it might work for you, but I see worse in my new glasses than I saw with my old ones! The woman said my glasses would be ready in 2 days, but it actually took 2 weeks. Finally, when picking up my glasses I asked for my prescription to be written down, and the woman refused! We argued about it and she relented, but only gave me a partial prescription (which is useless if I ever need to actually use it). Overall they were unhelpful and slow and argumentative. It was the most unprofessional eyecare place Ive ever been to. Id rather go back to lenscrafters than ever go here again!

The customer service is lousy to say the least... The one "thing" in there is so miserable and dresses like she is going to the club instead of her work place, only making eye contact with men, guess shes dressing to find a date rather than be a professional. Theyre unorganized and you have to ask them multiple questions just to get them to give you general information. The exam room was dingy and the chair had a cloth on it with a stain. I was called back way after my scheduled appointment time. The guy told me my prescription would be ready in a few days, I had to basically ask him to be more specific. Prob wont be back when its time to get a new prescription.

Ive been going to Eyeglass Encounters for the past 5 years. I went to another glasses place on 18th street, and this forward-thinking doctor (as polite as I can say it) wanted to change my prescription dramatically. I returned to Eyeglass Encounters after vomiting for a week straight because of my vision. The only major issue I have is that their phone line sometimes leads to a fax machine number. Sometimes I would have to call 3 - 5 times before I speak to someone. Once - their office hours were closed, and I emailed them with my order. In less than an hour, someone emailed me back and had that order the next day. Thats amazing!

I made purchases worth around $ 400 from here yet, even after 2 weeks i did not hear back from them , I called three times and the lady insisted that my glasses were not ready and argued with me that it was not sent in from the makers, (even though it was ready for 2 days as per another guy there- who gave it to me immediately).she was unapologetic and arrogant .she (her name was Susan) has a big attitude and is outright lazy, because she apparently did not check and bluffed that it was not ready. if there was a 0 star i would give them that.NOT a place i would recommend.

On my day off decided I needed new glasses. Walked in, browsed.asked about prices, if insurance might cover most. The owner got on the phone, called the insurance company and got an answer. Within two hours on a busy day, they got me in for a full exam, frames selected and off for lens fitting. Quick and thorough. Kind and personable. People reviewing talk about high prices; youd pay more for an exam in ardmore/bryn mawr by at least double. Place is downright awesome. Definitely going back for another pair.

Love My New Glasses! I went here for a routine eye exam because it was super close to work. Eye appointment was super quick, they had a very large selection of stylish glasses to choose from (I need them for reading), and I was able to get a really cute pair that looks great and helps me see alot better. Also the best part is that my glasses were done the very next morning! I would absolutely come back. They were also friendly and helpful.

I called to check if my glasses were ready. A customer service rep name Kristle was extremely rude, almost as if she didnt want to be on the phone. I asked why they didnt gave us a call yet and she simply said I dont know instead of any kind of apology. I dont understand why this kind of people work at places like this where they lack customer service. I will not go there again or never recommend to ky friends and family.

Ive been a loyal customer of Eye Encounters for the past 7 years and wouldnt dream of going anywhere else! Even when I do irresponsible things such as leaving my contacts in for too long ( work long and hard hours), and developing a bruise around my eye, Im still treated with the respect I deserved, and encouraged to take my eyes more seriously! Kudos to Eye Encounters 1000x over. I hope they NEVER go out of business!

Had an emergency and needed a pair of glasses/lenses made ASAP. I called, explained the situation, and told him I work 4 blocks away. He said "start walking - theyll be ready when you get here." Sure enough, I arrived approx. 10 minutes later and they were ready to go. From the time I called to the time I had the glasses in my hand, took about 20 minutes. Cant beat the experience I had here today.

I was in need of new prescription eyeglasses so a friend of mine recommended Eyeglass Encounters located at 1925 Chestnut Street. I was greeted by a superb and professional staff. The eye doctor was thorough and personable. The owner was friendly and took time to speak with his customers. My overall experience was excellent!

Agree with everything the previous reviewer said. They charge you to release your own prescription information (ie they dont want you buying glasses/contacts from anyone but them) even though you have a right to the information in your own medical record. Seems like an obvious HIPAA violation. Stay away.
