Let me start by saying Dr. Rebecchi himself is excellent. Knowledgeable, kind, thorough and attentive. Hes the reason this place has expanded like it has over the years. Unfortunately, if you happen to get Dr. Chapman, I feel bad for you. Exams are fast, he doesnt believe in many medications, and most often you will leave your visit wondering if the guy actually went to Vet school. I probably saw him over 10x throughout the years and Ive never thought he had a single insight into my pets health. The place is also quick to nickel and dime you. Most notably, they will sneak a $27 fecal exam onto your bill from time to time which relies on you to remember to bring in a sample the subsequent appointment. This has happened to me 3x without my permission. Also, the cost for an exam has gone up over the years Ive been a patient from $30 to $40. Oh, and not to mention the fact that have never, in 7 years, have I been seen on time. Most days they run 15-30 minutes late, which is why they are so quick to rush you out the door like a previous reviewer said. The front desk staff, for the most part, is friendly and caring. They did, however, leave a poor taste in my mouth regarding needing to see my pet every single year for the same prescription, which is both and inconvenience and an unnecessary hit to my wallet with the exam fees tacked on. I plan on taking my business and pets to a more flexible and convenient Vet for all future needs.

Good business practice would be to have an owner sign a form declining such an important service as a biopsy. If you can afford Penn, go there instead. We brought our 3 cats here for a couple yrs., transferred from Girard Vet clinic because this place has weekend hours--so great I thought! Large newer facility, adjacent boarding facility--perfect right? Our 11 year old cat got a lump on his back above his tail and we brought him in for an exam and to see what our options were. The vet told us, it didnt seem promising but we could remove the lump, get it biopsied and go from there. $150 for bloodwork associated with the surgery, no problem. My husband brought him in for surgery - $600 for the surgery, $150 for the biopsy, they told him it would be 3 weeks until we got the results (the tissue mass gets sent to Penn for analysis). I call 3 weeks later and they tell me that there are notes stating the owner declined the biopsy. This is absolutely false because why would we bother to put our poor old cat through surgery if we werent even going to find out what he has? Additionally why would we pay $150 for a biopsy? I asked if we could still get it done and they said well no it was disposed of. They refunded our $150 but my cats tumor has grown back (6 months later) and its now twice as big. We are not putting the poor guy through surgery again and have transferred to Fishtown Animal Hospital since we live in the neighborhood.

My Ex wife has been taking her dog (Lady) to the Philadelphia Animal Hospital for a few years now. I was kind of skeptical the way the dog reacted everytime she returned home. (She was moody and she just wasnt herself) Then it was brought to my attention what happened to our friend Linda who has been taken her dog (Benji) there for approximately ten years. Benji was operated on for the removal of a canceress growth at this hospital. Needless to say, when your pet develops cancer, we as pet owners get very emotional. Linda called the hospital for the biopsy results only to be told that Dr Rebbecchi was on vacation, and that Linda would get the results when Rebbecchi came back from vacation which wouldve been another week before she found out what the results were. To think that this doctor was on vacation and did not even call to see if the results came in. THE RESULTS WERE SITTING IN BENJIS FILE AND NO ONE CALLED LINDA TO GIVE HER THE RESULTS. It was only after the second time that Linda called to ask "why would the results take that long to come back" before she was told that some one would call within 24 hours to give her the results. I think its pathetic the way my dear friend was treated and how terrible the way this hospital handled this matter. Lastly, our dog will never see the inside of the Philadelphia Animal Hospital again. Rich

Ive held off in writing this review for a few months, I wanted to be sure that my initial opinion of this practice was accurate. Well, my first instinct was dead on - this hospital is awesome! I switch to PAH after 30+ years at another hospital. Ive been dealing with Dr. Chapman for my cats and I love his knowledge, calm demeanor and approach to my babies. The entire staff is warm and friendly. Their services are top-notch - they have a very high standard of care. I am in the medical profession, so I pay attention to the how and why treatment and care is given. You arent waiting forever to be seen and your appointments are never rushed. Their exam fees and vaccines are extremely reasonable. Oh, the office is immaculate, too. Ive met and spoken with Dr. Rebbecchi several times in passing and he is a man who cares about animals and wants to give his clients the best service possible. Making this move to PAH is the best decision I could make for me and my furkids.

I took a very sick cat here that I found on Saturday. The vet was the BEST vet Ive encountered in Philadelphia. Attentive. Supportive. Professional. I will be taking my others animals here from now on for anything serious. Sure, the care was a bit more expensive than other low-cost vet care options here in Philly, but you felt like this was someone who REALLY cared about the animal in front of them and its situation. $188 for assessment, feline/leukemia test, antibiotics, ear mite medication...couldve been worse, Im sure. The place, in general, is very comforting, clean and welcoming. Plus, what a relief they are open on a Saturday for walk-ins!!! I called around and most vet clinics here in Philly were closed or not picking up the phone. Seriously, if you have an emergency with your animals or a homeless animal, you couldnt get better/quicker care.

I find this place to be very shady. Quick on the examination, even faster to sell their drugs, and very excite to send me off to spend thousands of dollars for inconclusive results with basically no option. I later went online to cross reference, to find out she gave some of the worse case scenarios. I will admit, it broken me down, it has been years since been this emotional. Want play on my emotions and capitalize on my situation. Shame on you people!! I turn down drugs, and those testing. She even made her last attempt, stating that this facilities can also put on dog down for me. There was no other discussion of others options, just costly testings, drug sales, and putting down my dog. This occurrence went beyond unprofessional, Predatorily practice. Im very sadden disappointed by this experience.

Im so impressed with the exceptional care the staff and Dr. Rebbecchi showed my Blue pit of 11 years now. I had so much anxiety and worries for my dog getting nurtured at such an older age. My dog means the world to me. The love and comfort they showed my dog was unforgettable. The procedure went amazing!! When I picked him up I was impressed at how happy and energetic my dog was. I thought hed be out of it and not the same dog for a couple of days. Not at all the case. Hes in no pain and healthier then ever. I cant say thank you enough to the staff and Dr. Rebbecchi! Theyve giving me the best gift ever, a longer and healthier life with my Bestfriend....
