I had taken my cat previously to Lansdowne Vet Hospital for a routine check up and was not impressed by the quality of service or the clinic itself. The building is a converted Victorian style home and most of the equipment within the facility seems to be outdated and heavily used. The Hospital is clean, but gave off an unfriendly feeling. I had no issues with any of the receptionists or vet techs, however the two veterinarians I met with left me feeling uncomfortable. Dr. Wineburg seemed inexperienced and while making recommendations seemed to contradicted himself several times. He appeared very removed from the conversation he was having with me and did not exude the confidence that I would expect a doctor of veterinary medicine to have. Dr. Sutch also seemed very removed from the conversation I had with him. Dr. Sutch appeared more competent, but did not leave me with a sense of safety when entrusting my pets life with him. A week ago I was in a pinch and my cat was experiencing some trouble urinating. I would typically go to my vet in Media, however they were closed. Dr. Wineburg informed me that my cat was not blocked and said I could take him home, but then recommended I admit him into the hospital overnight for observation. Airing on the side of caution I admitted my cat overnight – in the morning Dr. Sutch stated that my cat had blocked and he would have to undergo catheterization – at this point I had already been billed $350 (for a few “recommended” procedures). I expected to have my cat home that evening, however he was kept in the hospital for an additional day of observation – all in, my total bill was $823.00 – they reduced the bill by $100 – however it still cost more then I was expected and was quoted. Attached is a copy of my invoice and the price tag of procedures completed – a few, that after some research are double the price of other local veterinarians in the area. It is hard to make financial decisions when you are compromised emotionally by your pets wellbeing. My cat is still recovering from the procedure at this point, however I still feel that I spent a lot more then I had to spend for my cat to become unblocked. I did not feel as if I was offered options with the procedures and I have been left with a very negative impression of the Lansdowne Veterinary hospital, and even though I live half a mile away – I do not plan on returning.

I dont know what either of you are talking about. My family has been with Emas since before I was born (Im 25) and the front staff has ALWAYS been courteous and helpful. Jessicas post has nothing to do with the front desk caring about her pets well-being, it has everything to do with customer service from them to her directly. they inconvenienced her so now shes saying they dont give a crap about the animals well-being. If an animal came into the vet bleeding and they told you to take it back outside bc they didnt want it bleeding on the floor THATD be not caring for the animals well being. Just because you didnt have x-rays or sent a friend to pick up your pets documents doesnt mean they dont care. The incident with the fax and 20 cents for each page of paperwork makes sense. At least they told her which way would be the free route. No sense in getting upset about that. I love Emas, he is an amazing vet, and the techs are very nice and personally, the front desk girls have always been nice too. Dr. Such is a different story. Hes a get in, get out as quickly as possible type of doctor and he can be harsh or brash with you when you have an innocent question concerning a problem your pet is having. If I could have a preference Id always choose Emas over Such. Even though Such is a good vet, hes got a terrible attitude towards pet owners. Or maybe I always catch him on a bad day, who knows.

Me and my family have been customers of Emas for about 10 years now. Through the years we have had 2 dogs and 8 cats seen by them. Recently they have changed their front staff and their new staff has proven numerous times to not care for the animals well being or the loyalty of the customers. Recently my parents dog was diagnosed with Hip Dysplasia, and when I went to go pick up the medication for him, the front staff refused to give me his medication because my parents had not returned his X-Rays. Another incident I had with them was when I was moving I called them to determine how to transfer my records to a new vet, over the phone the informed me that the only way to get the records was to go to the office to pick them up. Since I was quite busy with moving I sent a friend, but when that friend showed up at the office the staff informed her that it was going to cost 20 cents per page and it would have been a lot easier if I just had the new vet ask for a fax copy of the records as that would have been free. In short, I think that Emas is a great vet, unfortunately his new staff has caused my family to leave his practice. (My family who has 2 dogs and 3 cats are still in the area)

the 4 legged members of our family have been patients of the practice since i relocated here... many...many...many years ago. all of them have been treated with the very best of veterinary care and the compassion of true animal lovers.. through good times and very difficult times. We recently found ourselves without our 14 year old puppys lifelong groomer. it was a difficult problem to resolve considering his age and health challenges. I decided to try the new grooming services... not without the apprehension of a doting mother of course!!! But rudy came home not only transformed from his scruffy state to his handsome poodle self.... but most important calm, happy, and very proud... as only a standard poodle can be. Thank you all for the care and love you have provided to our family for almost 3 decades!!! I have recommended the practice to many friends and all have never left!!

Uhh, dummy, it has nothing to do with your pets well-being. Your dogs X-rays are legally their property and they can request that you return them. Also, your dogs medical records are a LEGAL DOCUMENT, so they cant just hand them out to anyone like your friend because you cant find 5 minutes to stop by. If its such a big deal paying for them to make copies, how about you just wait and have your new vet request them for free so we dont have to read your stupid not-well-thought-out review. P.S. - I have no interest in this animal hospital....I just like dishing out cold, hard truth.

R.F Clearly customer service doesnt matter to you. While your points are valid they completely ignore the partneship aspect of the relationship. May you receive the same level of relevant courteous commentary you deliver! I too experienced sufficient grief from the front desk staff at this business that I have taken my business elsewhere despite feeling that the Vets themselves were courteous competent and caring.

I have been at this practice for 10 years, and I would never leave. You are greeted warmly by the girls at the front desk, and seen without a wait. Dr. Sutch treats my gang ( 1 dog & 3 cats ) like his own. I have had everything from routine yearly exams. to tooth removal and unexpected wound care. This team is the BEST - and I will follow them if they would ever go elsewhere.
