Theyre a non-profit low-cost clinic that mostly works off of grants and donations and they dont have a large staff. So they do the best they can with what they have. And I think they are doing a great job. I really like the ladies who work at the front desk. Theyre very nice and helpful. However, keep in mind this is a low-cost clinic so dont expect the red carpet treatment. The clinic does have an odd odor - kinda smells like a strong disinfectant or cleaner. But its not too bad to deal with. My first time there, I had no complaints at all. I was very impressed with their staff and quality of customer service. However, my third visit, I was a bit frustrated. I took my kitten to get spayed and when I got her back I noticed she was a bit off. At first, I thought it was from the pain medication since they did explain there would be side effects. But the next day, I noticed she was sneezing a lot, being lethargic, and her eyes were very watery. I called in to talk to the vet. They explained it could possibly be an upper respiratory infection, which is apparently common in cats, and I should bring her in. Unfortunately, Im pretty positive my kitten caught it from being here. It can easily be transferred from cat-to-cat and is commonly spread when things, like food/water bowls and grooming supplies, are shared. It can also be spread by close contact, like sneezing or coughing. Unfortunately, this is a life-long problem. So she will carry the virus for life, even when shes not showing symptoms, and it can flare up anytime. Since then, Ive already had to take her to a vet hospital once because the symptoms flared up.

I cannot recommend this PAWS enough, especially if you have a stray animal who needs a little help. Heres what you need to know: 1. Most services for cats (thats all Ive taken) at the Saturday am clinic are about $75. This for us included the kitty HIV testing, immunizations, nail clipping, fleas and worms. Definitely a great deal for the stray cat who wound up in our basement. 2. The Saturday clinic is discounted at 10am. This room will FILL UP so you should really plan to be there by 930 at the latest. Youll get a clipboard to fill out then, and they sort the clip boards in the order received. 3. it was a bit shocking to me to wait until we had the kitty HIV/disease test before receiving other services. It makes sense and thankfully kitty was negative, but please consider this. 4. they take both cats and dogs! There were several pitbulls in here. If your animal is sensitive, plan for a more closed crate or maybe to wait outside with your animal while another person waits inside. Overall great experience, Im thankful for PAWS and the Saturday clinic at Grays Ferry!

Very disappointing facility! Took one stray female in to get spayed- it went ok. Had requested checking the ears as they were full of ear-mites- they forgot to do that. Luckily I was able to take care of that with the help of a vet-technician acquaintance. Made an appointment to get her and 2 others vaccinated- and upon arrival was told that they cant keep the appointment- as the vet has changed her hours there! The attitude:no phone call- no e-mail- just let em show up. It took a bit of co-ordination to get 2 people and 3 cats to the facility during the week- time off from work for us- and stress for 2 of the cats who hate the car. They were very blase about it. They charge $20 per animal to have an appointment- and then cant be bothered to check the schedule and alert the people that they have a change in hours! I wouldnt go there again- the SPCA can at least keep their appointments! The SPCA in Media is a bit of a drive- but after this experience- it looks pretty good.

Affordable and fast care for pets, but beware of negligent treatment from the vets in this production line of a place. I brought my malnourished rescue kitty in for a rabies and distemper vaccine, and they recommended putting a topical flea treatment - Activyl - on her neck. The Activyl website strongly warns against use on cats weighing less than 9 lbs., and on my cats exam paper, the vet techs had clearly estimated her to be only 5 lbs. They gave her the treatment anyways. Their negligence led to a paralyzed and hypersalivating cat who scared me half to death the next day!!! A visit to the Emergency Vet and $150 later, they washed the treatment off. Do your research and get an opinion from your local, trusted vet, as well as those at this clinic. I know the service has saved many animals, especially those with less than wealthy owners, but tney could really be more careful.

I am extremely disappointed with how unbelievable rude the staff is. I took my cat here and due to the President being in the city there was gridlock traffic throughout the city. I called ahead to let them know that we would be late to pick up the cat, I did indicate if that was a problem I understood if they had to board her overnight. The lady proceeded to tell me extremely rudely that "they have other priorities and must leave promptly at 5". Not that I would ask for anyone to stay an insane amount of time after their shift or workday ends, but it is my understanding that this is an organization dedicated to the well being of animals. It seems to me their staff has not gotten that memo and is more concerned about their personal problems and agenda then that of those in their care.

Tried to schedule an appointment for my car which was adopted from paws, told that they didnt provide vet care for my cat... Here is the email they sent me. I’m sorry to hear that you’re having some problems with ... Unfortunately we do not offer post adoption medical services at the spay and neuter clinic. You should have received a health exam certificate in your adoption packet to help you get in contact with a local veterinarian. We also have a list of local vets on our website as well as a behavior helpline.

I had an appointment to put down my sick old cat because they dont take walk-ins for that. I wasnt seen until 45 min after my appointment time. At which point the vet and assistant were great! She told me frankly what was going on and her opinion about weather she was comfortable putting the cat down. "If I didnt think you should, Id tell you… and I wouldnt put him down." They were accommodating and empathetic, and in expensive. Front office/ waiting room 2 star, vet, care and cost 5 stars.

Called on the 8/ 4th about my cat has worms. They said they do walk in fri, sat , sun. I went today 8/5 got there at 11:30 and to my disappointment, the lady says , we are not taking any more animals today you can come back tomorrow on 8/ 6. My cat needs help today Not Tomorrow! There was a lot of people with there pets there. If you need to get your animal seen , pay the extra money and thats what i did. Cheap prices get you cheap service.
