I have taken my daughter to SO Pediatric Dentistry for 6 years. Unknown to dentistry, all seemed legit. The office decor was fun, which I think is what draws the patients in. Take the fun decor away and what do you have? It does seem over time, that there is more of a concern for money. A couple of years ago, the office implemented a new policy that required leaving a credit card number, so they could bill you for insurance leftover WITHOUT calling you first. I did not agree to it. I am not having my credit card information floating around. Needless to say, they must have dropped that policy, because I do not see the paperwork for that anymore. Now, when my children are sick at the last minute or has to stay after school for an assignment at last minute (who doesnt have this happen?), I get charged with a cancellation fee. Things happen (only 2 times in 6 years). I called their office at 10:00 am, but the message stated that they were closed. I emailed the office rep confirming the appointment, and I got no response. When they finally returned my call, I tried to reschedule her appointment, but when I asked for a 4 oclock appointment, I was told there were no 4 oclocks for the rest of the year (this happened this month...March). Really no 4 oclocks left?!?? I told the young girl, that I would check around for a doctor with 4 oclocks, and she said, "ok." I have also moved a past appointment for them at their request before, and I did not get reimbursed for anything. Another time, I made an appointment, I was told that the appointment my daughter received was the first available, however, the couple that came in shortly after me got an appointment 2 weeks before my daughters appointment (same doctor). Hmmm...a lie? The office also does not seem to acknowledge, that they overbook for time slots. We sit way beyond our appointment times because of overbooking and do not get reimbursed for our time. I also did not get reimbursed for the aggravation when the office deleted my daughters file without notifying me, because another party told them she was not coming back (I filled out the paperwork and I am the only one who has ever brought my daughter to the dentist and I am the one who pays the bill). I also got a threatening letter for collections under $20.00, when I never got a bill before the collection letter. I pay every the balance at the time service is completed without complaint EVER. The only response, that I received was, "There was no way, that you did not get a bill, because we have the correct address, so how do you want to pay this?" I also noticed on my 2 year olds first appointment recently, that they tried to force treatment on her without explanation. Lots of crying obviously. This mom stopped that real fast. Dr. Suzy is nice, but we have had rude treatment by other staff, including a doctor. Sometimes, people or an office can get to big for their britches and money can do crazy things to people. We are now going elsewhere. God luck!!

I WAS very happy at Stone Oak for the first 3 years we took our children there -- its a fun place and very well organized. But I noticed a change in the last year. I have to agree with Ruben -- it seems like the dentists are out to get the maximum money for each visit now. I have disagreed with several of Dr. Susies recommendations on invasive "preventative" work she felt should be done on my daughters teeth. I was so concerned that I took her to two other dentists for a second opinion. Neither dentist recommended ANY work to be done. I think the reason she wanted to do so much work is because my daughters teeth are otherwise very healthy -- no cavities, no other problems at all, and she wasnt making enough money off of us. I think they have lost their way and have become greedy. The front desk is run like a well-oiled money-making machine -- the last time I was there I counted 13 administrative people working in the front. Does a dentist office of this size really need THAT many administrative people?? I dont dispute any of the dentists expertise, and the hygienists are fabulous, but I just cant go there anymore. I feel like they are risking the health of my childrens teeth by doing too much, just to be able to bill insurance for more procedures.

My family was in San Antonio this past weekend (4/21/12) on vacation. Saturday afternoon my 8 year old son slipped on a kiddie water slide and had a severe dental injury to his permanent 2 front teeth. We were taken to the ER where they called a Pediatric Dentist. We were referred to Dr. Courtney Alexander. She opened her office to me and my 3 boys Saturday afternoon...having to cancel an outing with her family. She took immediate care of my son and assessed/cleaned the damage. In my opinion, an important trait in a person- be it a professional dentist or good friend- is are they there for you in an emergency when you need them most? Dr. Alexander did not know us from adam, but she dropped what she was doing with her family and gave us impeccable care. Her wonderful assistant, Kayla, also came to the office to assist and then drove my family back to our hotel. Bottom line- when your child has a dental emergency, it was our experience that they will do everything to take the best possible care of your child. Dr. Alexander and her office have followed up to check on my son several times too!

We just finished getting some dental work completed on my 4 year old son (05/09/2012). The experience was wonderful! All of the staff members were friendly and professional and were willing to take the time to explain every aspect of my sons work. The explained the charges in detail, helped me work out a payment plan, and made sure I understood both the work done and the preventative care that would help my son. They took all of the time I needed, and never once tried to rush me through the process. Dr. Courtney and her assistant were so good with my son, and made sure he was comfortable and happy throughout the entire process. They took the time to listen to me, answer my questions (what was necessary, why it needed to be done, and how to prevent it in the future), and address my fears (concern about how my son would react to the medication, etc.). If you want the best dental care for your child, Dr. Courtney Alexander is the best pediatric dentist! I highly recommend her and if I could give her 10 stars on the google rating, I would do so!

Wow! Amazed at how horrible of an experience I had @ Stone Oak Pediatric Dentistry!! Receptionist quite friendly, over the phone & in person, so I anticipated a great experience... Definetly not the case! Dental assistant tried forcing me to have my one year old take xrays. After having my daughter in tears from being too forceful, she attempted to force her in to letting her brush her teeth. When I explained that I wanted my daughter to allow us to see what she was and was not ready for, she rudely left & got dentist. Dentist say down, without introductions or acknowledging my daughter, instructed me to lay her down, put flouride sealant on her teeth, never explaining what she was doing or provide me with anyother information. Upon checking out, they tried charging for cleaning & xrays, even though they were never done! I really hope this review saves parents time and a horrible experience!
