Excerpt from a letter I wrote to the clinic: "Last week, I called your optical shop because the frames that I purchased there in May are of poor quality. The coating on the frames is peeling off. I was informed that I needed to bring the glasses in, which I did that afternoon. When I told Barb about the coating peeling off, she replied “Yeah, that happens with those.” When I asked if the frames were under warranty, she informed me that she could order me an identical pair of the frames, but that the coating on the new frames would peel off as well. She also stated that the frames I chose were a part of your “economy line.” I pointed out that I had paid $100 for these glasses (my insurance company covered the rest of the cost. If I remember correctly, the total cost came to over $400.)" Dr. Hanson subsequently called and offered to order me a new pair of the same poor quality frames, and I mentioned that Barb had said new frames would also peel. He stated that she was just "thinking out loud" and describing a scenario that could possibly occur with the frames, but that it had not occurred in the past. However, he also informed me that the office had decided to stop selling the frames. To his credit, he did offer to refund my money after I told him that I did not believe this story. Because I sent a copy of my letter to the Attorney Generals office, Dr. Hanson was asked to send a response to them. In this letter he mentioned twice that the glasses I chose were from the "budget line." Unfortunately, he did not seem to understand that he was responsible for providing a quality product regardless of whether the glasses were (relatively) inexpensive.

Tried to go here to get safety glasses for my new job. The company that St Anthony Eye Clinic orders the safety glasses from (3M) says that all an employee needs to order the glasses are a valid eye prescription (from the optometrist of your choice) and an order authorization form from the employer; the employee pays nothing for the glasses. With a current eye prescription (expiring in May 2016) and the order authorization form in hand, I thought I was ready to order my safety glasses. Boy, was I wrong. When I arrived, the receptionist was kind enough to tell me that the form that I had from 3M was actually incorrect, and that I would be required to take an eye exam there to "properly fit" the safety glasses. She then went on to inform me that my prescription was actually invalid because it was over a year old. Um...hello? Eye exam prescriptions are supposed to last two years, and thats what the expiration date on my prescription says. Even though my employer is totally covering the cost of my safety glasses (but not an eye exam), that apparently wasnt enough money for St Anthony Eye Clinic. They felt the need to lie in order to try to get me to pay for an unnecessary eye exam. No thank you. I went to one of the many other 3M eye care professionals and was actually treated professionally. They didnt question my valid eye prescription, and gladly placed an order for my safety glasses. I paid nothing out of pocket. I guess if you like eye clinics that try to gouge you for every dollar you have, shop here.

I have attempted to purchase eyeglasses(progressive lenses) for three years. I have worn glasses for over 35 years. I work on the computer for my job for 8 eight hours a day. I started have trouble focusing, I could not see the screen very well. I tried the "big box" (three of them) chains, I even tried a pair of "computer" glasses. I returned the glasses every time, the glasses I currently wore worked better then the "new" glasses and the computer glasses were worse. THEN my mother told me to try St Anthony Eye Clinic. See loves Dr Hansen and his staff. So, I thought what the heck, I saw Dr Burgard she was awesome. She listen to me, and asked questions to determine why all the glasses I tried did not work. Then as I sat there to pick out glasses, Barb and Jan the opticians, they asked me to get measurements of how far I sit from my screen and etc....... So, I ordered a pair of "everyday" and "office/computer" glasses. WOW is all I can say. I can see so well and everything is in focus, THANKS Guys

Note for all St. Anthony Eye Clinic guests, Your prescription is good for 2 years. Do not let them convince you otherwise. While I understand the benefits of a regular exam, this is lousy attempt to take more of your money. If you are given a prescription with an expiration date of 1 year, speak up! 2014 Minnesota Statutes 145.712 REQUIREMENTS FOR CONTACT LENSES PRESCRIPTIONS. Subd. 2.Prescription expiration date. A prescription written by an optometrist or physician must expire two years after it is written, unless a different expiration date is warranted by the patients ocular health. If the prescription is valid for less than two years, the optometrist or physician must note the medical reason for the prescriptions expiration date in the patients record and must orally explain to the patient at the time of the eye examination the reason for the prescriptions expiration date.

Moving into the age of needing bi-focal glasses/contacts, Dr. Kari Burgard was extremely helpful in informing me of my options and explaining what each option meant. She had me try on a pair of contacts to give them a test drive and for the first time in MONTHS, I didnt have to look around for my cheaters to see the small print. Not only was Dr. Burgard helpful and friendly to me, she and the rest of the staff at St. Anthony Eye Clinic were extremely friendly and polite to my three children. Thank you for a great experience - we will be back!

Ive been going here for years - even after I moved out of the area. Ive worked with both Doctors and both are very professional and kind. I see a couple negative comments on here, and the clinics responses to them are on point. Ive been wearing corrective lenses for 21 years and have always had annual eye exams. Its common sense, people. I will continue to go to St. Anthony Eye Clinic for as long as Im able. Never had an issue - then again, Im not a consumer who has to have an issue with everything when things dont go my way.

I had an excellent experience with St Anthony Eye Clinic last month. The clinic was very flexible with getting me in for an evening appointment after work, and I was very happy with all of their staff and their attentiveness. Everyone there was a joy to be around. You could tell they all truly enjoyed working there and that made me feel extremely at ease and welcomed. I will recommend this conveniently located clinic to anyone I know looking for an eye doctor.

I visited St. Anthony Eye Clinic for the first time two weeks ago. Dr. Hanson and his staff professionally answered all of my questions and concerns and even told me how to best protect my vision from the harmful blue light emanating every day from my computer monitor. I have not received this level of attention and concern for my eye health ever before and will definitely be returning each year for my regular check-up.
