Apparently, my 14 year old son inherited my bad skin. This year his face broke out worse than mine ever did - and I felt so badly for him. It bothered ME more than it did him, actually. But it did bother him. I first took him to a dermatologist who Rxd him an oral antibiotic as well as some new topical antibiotic called "Onextin", that we had to wait for until it came in the mail. While we were waiting, I searched the web for someone in Salt Lake City that specialized in acne and ran across Jils website. I was really hesitant to go the oral antibiotic route and to add a topical antibiotic as well! When I saw Jils website I was tentatively excited about it - a bit skeptical at first. I showed my husband, who is the skeptic of all skeptics - and he shook his head and said, "Awww...theyre just trying to sell you some product line." But he "let me" give it a try. I phoned and made his first appointment. Well - skeptics beware! We went back to see Jil every two weeks for about three months, and yes, we did buy "some product" from her - but Im here to truly and honestly say that it was the absolutely BEST decision I ever made for my sons skin care. On the very first visit, Jil extracted blackheads and whiteheads from my sons skin - it was probably hard to know where to start - it was that bad. She spent an hour on his skin. She and her assistant gave us a detailed lesson in how to eat, how to do a routine with the products we bought from her - and btw - those products are absolutely wonderful things. Gentle, effective and for the most part no more expensive than acne products youd buy off the shelves at Walmart. The products are important to follow, as what they do is prep the skin for the appointments you make with Jil to extract all the gunk from under the skin. If the skin is too dry and not supple, the gunk doesnt come out easily. The products "pull" the underlying acne up to the surface so Jil can get to it. My husband, by the way, is a 100% believer in Jils expertise now! (And hes a scientist by trade!) I was at the dermatologist myself the other day - for my own issues - not for my son - I wanted some things removed from my face. At any rate, a mom came into the office with her teen-aged son who was obviously afflicted with a bad case of acne - and started filling out new patient forms. I didnt, but I SO wanted to interrupt and tell her to run, dont walk! to Jil at SkinTherapy downtown and make THE VERY BEST decision she could make for her son. But I was afraid Id get in trouble - so I kept my mouth shut. If youre reading this review - and youre still on the fence - get off that fence and go see Jil. Youll not regret it. Ill post a picture of before and after of my son if I can...and the after photo was taken about two months ago - hes even clearer now! And for the record - Im NOT being paid to write this review. I told Jil I would because I really want her business to succeed because, to my knowledge, theres no other place to go. Acne is such a self-esteem problem for teens - for anyone, actually. Okay. Enough said. :-)

Jil is the best!! If you are looking for acne treatment that actually works, you need to go to Jil. I will start off by saying that Ive nearly tried everything out there in the quest for clear skin (both prescription and OTC). Ive suffered from hormonal acne since I was probably about 13 or 14. Ive been to so many other physicians, dermatologists, aestheticians and have not had the success I have had with Jils products and program. After being discouraged with all options I was given by those other doctors and aestheticians, I decided to try accutane. Ive actually gone through a total of two rounds of accutane. The first round kept my skin clear for about 5 years, until I decided to stop taking hormonal birth control, which was also helping keep my skin clear, and the acne came back with a vengeance. I went back to my dermatologist and they gave me the same treatment options Id been given my entire life in dealing with acne; special creams, antibiotics or accutane. Since the creams and pills have never worked for me, I reluctantly decided on another round of accutane. If youve never been on accutane, its a very harsh drug and is not fun to be on. It dries out your skin, lips, mouth, eyes, makes your skin very sensitive to the sun, can cause major birth defects if you were to get pregnant, and you generally need to be on this medication for 4-6 months. While the second round did help with the majority of the acne, my skin still wasnt staying completely clear and I wasnt happy with how my skin looked. I started researching alternative treatments and found Jils clinic online. After reading the information on her site and the Google reviews, I was ready to give it a try. Jil and her staff are not only so kind and professional, but they really know their stuff! She actually takes the time to get to know you and your skin to formulate a treatment plan specifically for you. The products she offers are incredible! I love the makeup line so much that I no longer buy any of my makeup anywhere else. She will go over everything with you that can aggravate acne, like diet and certain acne aggravating ingredients that are found in a lot of beauty products. She also provides you with resources so you can find products that wont aggravate your skin if you choose not to use her products, though I highly recommend using the products they offer. Her program may seem expensive, but Im actually saving money compared to the hundreds of dollars I would throw away in the search for that magic serum or potion that would fix my skin. My skin now looks and feels great! I cant thank you enough, Jil! Youve changed my life. I really wish I would have had you in my life decades ago!

Jil is like a skin god, I really dont know how else to put it. Several months ago I started getting this really, really weird rash on my face and chest. It was very rough and bumpy in texture and would itch whenever Id sweat. It was mostly around my hairline and on my forehead. I was extremely frustrated, to say the least. I tried all sorts of washes and scrubs to get rid of it but absolutely nothing helped. Sometimes it made it worse. So I decided to look around and find someone who was not a dermatologist. I wanted someone who KNEW skin. Who would take the time to actually figure out what it was, and what I could do to fix it. The fact that she was willing to offer a 1 hour consultation just to look at my skin and go over what I should/shouldnt use on my face, etc, was exactly what I wanted and I wasnt disappointed. At the initial consultation she couldnt figure out what it was but took pictures and sent them to other experts. I thought that was really nice of her. I felt that she really went out of her way to figure out what was wrong and how to fix it. She sent me home with some products and a pamphlet that gave me all the information I needed to treat my skin. Within a week it had improved SO much, I was so happy. Skin problems are mentally debilitating--it really affects how you view yourself. You lose all confidence in yourself and you avoid social interactions as much as possible because you become ashamed of yourself to some degree. You feel like other people will perceive you as "dirty" or "unhygienic". Which sucks because this kind of stuff is completely out of your control. Its just your skin being stupid. And my skin has always been extremely sensitive and stupid. So what im trying to say is Jil has fixed more than my skin. Shes fixed me mentally too. I feel so much better about myself and that has been worth every penny Ive ever spent. You will not regret going to Jil-whether you have acne problems or some other weird problem that you cant explain. She will fix it! Just make sure to listen to her and follow her regimen EXACTLY. She kept telling me to stop wearing liquid makeup, and that it was causing the pimples that kept popping up on my face. I kept hoping it wasnt the makeup but as soon as I stopped wearing it they all went away and they havent come back. Sorry, Jil. :( You were right and I was wrong. Bottom line: Go see her! She is amazing and you will not regret it.
