Ok, so Im glad I waited to write this until after my follow up, because I would have given a higher rating initially than they deserved. Took 2 small dogs in about 2 weeks ago (I was a first time client, my dogs just moved back to the states with me a couple months ago). It was my intention to stock up on some medicine, get general check ups, and have one of my dogs ears checked because it had been bothering her. Bill for the first appointment was $357, which I was totally fine with given that I had quite a bit done and also bought a supply of meds. At the end of my first appointment, the doctor told me she wanted to see my little girl dog back in 2 weeks to check her ear to ensure that the medicine had worked on her ear infection. At that time I didnt pay that any mind, and nothing else was said about it. Today I went back for that follow up. The assistant starts with us in the room with a weight check and a few quick questions about how shes doing and if she did well with the medicine, she did nothing with my dogs ears at all (which I expected only the vet would do). She leaves and the vet quickly arrives, a couple quick questions from her, she looks in both ears, comments that the dog could use a couple more days of the cream in her ear to make sure the swelling is gone, asks me if I have any other questions or concerns and wishes me well. Total time in the office with the assistant/vet was maybe 6-7 minutes. I go out to the lobby, expecting that maybe they would try to get me to set up the next appointment for the dogs. After a minute or two, the woman behind the counter tells me my total would be $35.00..... It took everything I had to not be really upset. At no point during my first visit when they said I needed to come back did they mention that there would be another fee at all for this follow up that lasted less than 10 minutes, much less that this fee that I didnt know existed would be $35.00. I feel as though I have been mislead, and that they were not really transparent. I feel like if you mention a follow up like it is some very small and not inconvenient thing (again, it took around 6/7 minutes), you need to inform your client that not only will there be a fee for those couple of minutes, but that the fee will be $35.00. Obviously they are free to charge what theyd like, but the fact that I was not informed that I would be paying over $5 per minute for my next appointment which yielded no new information or value for me or my dog makes me feel completely misled. I obviously expected them to charge a fee for the time, and even though I personally disagree with the amount of the fee for this, I would not have been upset had I been informed at least that there would be a fee ahead of time. You lost an opportunity to create a lifetime customer who will need vet services in the future after recently moving back to the area, I will never return here in the future. If I could give them 0 stars, I would. Lacking transparency and integrity in the way you communicate information to clients.

I have taken my animals here once or twice, and the first time was fine, but the second time was a little disappointing. I brought in 3 animals to this appointment; two dogs, (one that was just in need of a booster and one that seemed to be having some skin irritations due to allergies, plus get his booster), and a cat that has had a dead eye for her whole life, but it still needs to be checked out every once in a while. First, the tech comes in and asks all these questions about what is going on, and then we are left in the room to wait for about 20 minutes before the vet comes in. As soon as the vet comes in, we have to re-explain everything all over again, which seemed to make the techs appearance/questions before hand pointless. They started with the cat first, and right off the bat, the vet said that she recommended just going ahead and doing a consultation with an ophthamologist because she is not experienced enough for eye problems...ok, no problem...then, on to the dogs...one is perfectly healthy, and gets her booster, over and done with. The second one took more time because he had his skin issues, plus needed his shot, and the technician kept rolling her eyes through the entire appointment because he took longer to look at his skin issues...I dont think she realized I could see her, but she was giving off silent attitude. When it was time to check out...our bill was close to $500...completely overpriced. $60 was charged for the cat that the vet did NOTHING with..barely looked at her. When asked about it, they said that that was their standard price for a vet visit for animals that do not need immunizations. There was an additional $100 in vet fees, again, one dog was barely touched. I personally do not agree with the vet charging a vet free per animal, especially because I know their prices on meds and their tests are pricy enough ...the immunizations and tests are what they are...but the overcharging for services not even received were a little upsetting, and made me question taking my animals back here.

The staff and veterinarian made the very difficult, heart-wrenching and emotional decision to put down my beloved 13 year old golden retriever (who had advanced stage cancer) a little more bearable. They were professional, kind and compassionate to me and my sweet golden girl. They took time to explain each step of the process so I knew what to expect. They also gave me plenty of time with her to say my goodbyes. I came to them for help during a very sad time in my life and they made it just a little bit easier. Thank you Hilltop Veterinary Clinic! Zoe and I appreciate your kindness and compassion.

I am very greatful for this clinic because they squeezed in another appointment for my dog who needed to be immediately seen on July third after they closed. I will say, however, this place is expensive, and the vets always recommend treatments and services that are expensive first, and I dont see the level of compassion and love for the animals that I would like to see. It seems like they are more interested in running a business than being there for the animals and the love of them.

This is by far the BEST vet we have ever gone to. Our pets are family and they get that, they treat them so well and they always tell us all options for every situation. I never feel like they are "up" selling me like my last vet and so many of them do. They have gotten me through a losing a dog that had cancer and a dog with a heart condition that we took to NC State for surgery and now they help coordinate his continued care with a local Cardiologist. I highly recommend them!

I cannot thank the staff at Hilltop Veterinary Clinic enough for their help with our dog!! He all of the sudden formed a fear of coming to the vet (literally would not walk near the front door), and they went above and beyond to help us get him inside for his exam! We were so impressed and will definitely keep coming back!!
