I would give this place LESS than 1 star, but that’s not possible. My husband got the Groupon deal. Not a deal. Our 1st time arriving, we sat for 20 min before anyone greeted us and when the receptionist did come from the back she asked if anyone had helped us yet. WHO would that be since she is the receptionist?? The owner breezed in from the back next and never acknowledged anyone in the waiting room. Rude. That was actually the 2nd appt because the 1st never happened due to an alleged food poisoning the employees had. I’d like to point out that they called us to reschedule on my cell (Remember this b/c it is important later). We ended up having the mud and steam on this visit but not the massage b/c when rescheduled we weren’t informed that our masseuse was a male. So we were rescheduled for a THIRD time. My husband called the day before our 3rd appt to confirm our massage and left a message that INCLUDED his phone #. He then called 5-6 times prior to arriving on the day of our appt, still trying to confirm our time. No one answered the phone. When we arrived, no one was at the desk. The lady came from the back (AGAIN) about 5 min. after we arrived. When she finally got to us, after finishing with the others, we were informed that our masseuse was not available and we had to be rescheduled AGAIN. FOR THE FOURTH TIME. She supposedly tried to call us but stated that they must not have the correct #. Now remember we were called the 1st time they had to reschedule AND the CORRECT # was left on the message the day before. I’d also like to point out that the staff was brand new from our 1st scheduled appt to this day. We got our mud & steam from a girl who had been there for 2wks and never did a mud bath prior to that job and has never even had one herself. And the décor is not the least bit soothing. The colors are a soothing blue mixed with an energized bold bright orange. Where are we? Jamaica? I have been there 2 times and have yet to see the café open. The waiting room chairs are aqua blue ratton/wicker chairs and if you are going to keep people waiting THAT LONG you should have comfortable chairs and more of them. I would also like to point out that I overheard the other people in the waiting room on my 1st visit complaining about their long wait. Please also note that all of the good reviews are obviously from the owner. They are written in the same voice and they address the concerns of every previous bad review. She will probably write one after me now to address my issues. JUST AVOID THIS PLACE.

I have been searching for a holistic doctor that could help with some diagnosing possible hypothyroidism, I was thrilled to find out after many searching, for doctor Steele. I quickly called and tried setting up an appointment. This by far has been the most unprofessional experience I had for calling a doctor office. Lets just say I never got to set up an appointment after the end of a 20 minute long call! I called to set up an appointment, explained my situation to the receptionist. I wanted to set up an appointment for the next day. Just to verify the times took her forever. As soon as I asked what times she had for tomorrow she puts me on hold. I was surprised she had to put me on hold for so long just to verify the time slots. After putting me on hold, she comes back after possibly 5 minutes.She comes back saying there was an opening for that same day, I explain again my situation, that it had to be for tomorrow. She then puts me on hold AGAIN. To check the times. It all seemed so iffy and strange. I stay on hold again for possibly another 5 minutes. She then comes back and tells me. I request for 11:30. After that, she is getting my profile information to start it up. Another situation came up with giving my name and email, she just seemed bothered by the whole process.. after that she explains to me what do I prefer: a 15 free consultation or an hour long consultation. I ask if with the 15 minute or hour long consultation Will be able to get blood work done for checking my thyroid levels. She seemed doubtful every time I asked and only really wanted me to hurry up and set up a time. I told her I was really concerned and wanted to know if they would do blood work there or outside the location. (Just so I can mentally prepare!) the way she answered just seem like she didnt know what she was doing. She then makes an excuse, puts me on hold and came back asking for my number so the doctor could call me back. I gave it to her, she seemed rather chipper after she had an excuse to hang up. She then says it may take 5-10 minutes to receive a call from the doctor. The doctor never called and I ended up wasting 20 minutes on the phone just to try set up an appointment. They lost their chance to have a customer and on money. Would recommend a different receptionist.

Last year I was told I had a hyper thyroid and would need to get my thyroid radiated to kill it because unfortunately I had Graves disease and its not something that can be cured. I was taking 16 pills a day to regulate my thyroid production while I decided on treatment. I googled searched naturopaths in Virginia beach and essential wellness came up. It was one best decisions I have made in the healing of my health (I also do regular chiropractic and massage). Dr Erica Steele not only slowly but surely helped with food, supplement and homeopathic remedies but has changed the way I feel on a daily basis. I even use her now for when I get colds and such. A year later I am not only feeling amazingly better but I am down to only 2 thyroid pills a day and have not had to follow through with radio active iodine. Thank Goodness! I have also had a few other health issues along the way and she is always a phone call away. She gets back to me quickly and makes my problems a priority. I ask a lot of questions (maybe too many!) and she patiently always answers them all. I would highly recommend Essential Wellness to anyone and everyone! When I say I would recommend everyone I even mean my child. Last week we were a day before traveling on an airplane and my 22 month old son came down with a sudden high fever and stopped eating. I called Essential wellness in a panic and they told me to bring him on in. She tested him and diagnosed the illness as viral and parasitic. Gave us a few homeopathic remedies to get started immediately. She had him and I get in the dry sauna for 30 min (to try and sweat it out) he feel asleep the whole time we were in there!!! Then we went on our way. Once home we gave him a smoothie. He drank it, had the chills and his fever broke! Woah! That night he finally ate soup and slept through the night! I am so thankful for Dr Steele getting us in so quick and her awesome knowledge which allowed us too travel the very next day all with out any medications! We love Dr Steele and her staff! Her front desk right hand women Angela is amazing too! We trust are Whole family to Essential Wellness! You should too!
