Dr Sotomayor is a very sweet doctor and seemed very caring towards her patients and the man at the front desk is very professional and courteous, unfortunately someone by the name of Isabel Sotomayor was not pleasant at all. I came here today on 4/1/2017 which is a Saturday to discuss a bill that was sent to my husband in error, I had called the day before and someone said to come by Saturday between 10-12 or 9-12 & bring in the bill since she was not able to find it in the system. When I got there they had me waiting like the other patients, then this girl comes like 30 to 45 min later to supposedly help me, she was rude from the beginning cutting me off as I spoke and she said they dont handle billing issues on a Saturday and seemed upset that i was there in the 1st place regarding this issue. I explained that one of her female staff told me to come in otherwise I wouldnt have wasted my time, she wanted to know her name but I didnt remember so she proceeded to give me attitude and gave me the impression that she thought I was lying about that. I should be the one upset at the fact that I was told to come in today, wasting my time AND to top it all off shes giving ME attitude...she then said shell take a look at it on Monday and let me know because conveniently enough they have a new system and is not able to do anything for me today. Also, to show her unprofessionalism she didnt even bother to check if my info needed to be updated, our phone numbers had changed, so i gave my new info to the young man in front since i didnt want to look at her face, its how furious I was. I highly doubt she will be helping or doing anything about my concerns and you all know how difficult it is to get a hold of anyone here so this is going to take a while. My husband and i visited Dr Sotomayor in October of 2015 for a wellnesss visit which is covered by our insurance but they didnt put it in as a wellness visit to our insirance and we got billed instead. I was able to, at that time call my insurance to have it fixed but they said I needed to call the medical practices billing dept. I did exactly that and the person at that time promised they were going to fix it and resend the bill to our insurance with the correct code. I called maybe 1 or 2 days after to make sure they sent it and they said yes it was re-sent all is fixed and we wont be billed again. Its been 2 years and never any other bills were received by this practice, no late payment bill, no reminder bills and nothing shows on our credit report that this bill was owed, so obviously I believed all was fixed and done with. Now 2 years later my husband gets a bill from this practice saying to pay such amount in order to continue being seen here, WHAT THE HECK. My insurance explained that 2 yrs ago they did resend the bill but never changed the code as the practice said they would. SO PLEASE, everyone should make sure they are being billed for the correct exam/visit or they will bill you instead of your insurance. I would have loved to continue to see Dr. Sotomayor and was even willing to overlook the fact that its difficult to get in touch with anyone to set up an appointment i can always show up to do that in person, or that we have to wait for hours to be seen even though we have an appointment because we are very patient, or that we have to check our statements to make sure we are paying what we are suppose to cause everyone should be doing that no matter what practice or company is billing you, but Isabel Sotomayor whom Im assuming is related to the Doctor made us change our minds. DR SOTOMAYOR, IF YOU EVER READ THESE REVIEWS, JUST WANT TO SAY I WOULD HAVE HOPED YOUR PROFESSIONALISM AND DELICATE WAYS OF SPEAKING TO YOUR PATIENTS WOULD HAVE RUBBED OFF ON ISABEL SOTOMAYOR AND YOU SHOULD BE CONCERNED REGARDING ISABELS ATTITUDE BECAUSE IM NOT THE FIRST OR ONLY PERSON COMPLAINING ABOUT HER, YOUR STAFF ARE THE PEOPLE WE 1ST SEE AND FROM FIRST IMPRESSIONS IT LEAVES A NEGATIVE REVIEW ON YOUR PRACTICE.

If you are trying to look for a good PCP, dont look here. quick short reasons to why you should avoid going here: 1.) Difficult to make appointments 2.) Rude front desk staff 3.) Will not release Medical records to new PCP even though you have sign the necessary medical release form and tell you that you must pay $25 for medical records in form of USB card. 4.) Doctors here show lack of compassion when it comes to medical needs. Our experience at Sotomayors Beware of very rude staff at the front desk. Nurses in the back are very nice, but this practice is terrible. If you are looking to make an Emergency appointment, the phone service sends you to a third party answering service that then takes a good week to get back to you. If you miss their call, believe you will be playing phone tag. My grandmother fell ill and had to go to the ER, I made a follow up appointment which then took a week for them to call back, I had called numerous times within that week because I havent received a call back and the answering service now was on a recorded loop with "your call is being transfer" for the next 40 mins. I started to take my grandmother to her doctor appointments because of a language barrier when my uncle was out of town who usually takes my grandmother to her usual appointments. After experiencing the lack or concern for their patients at this practice, Ive decided to switch my grandmothers PCP and obnoxiously rude staff. Ive sign their medical release form and have been there to try to get this problem solve, but they say they will send it out, and still after 3 attempts, my grandmothers records are still not sent and they still try to make you pay $25 for her records. Ive had medical records transfers for myself and children even from state to state transfers so this isnt my first rodeo. They(front desk) also claimed with their own words that they had call my grandmother and verified if she(grandmother) DID NOT want records transferred. FIRST OF ALL, phone numbers are on file are mine and my uncles phone numbers, there is ABSOLUTELY no way they could have spoken to my grandmother due to the language barrier. THIS PRACTICE IS THE UTMOST DISHONEST PRACTICE IVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE. Since they dont want to send my grandmothers files, thats fine, Id rather start all over with an honest doctor since all the medicine shes been prescribes by the doctors here has resulted in her being at the hospital 5 times within the past 18 months.

I have had this doctor since I was about 16-17 yrs old. It has been about a decade now and Dr. Sotomayor is a professional, one of the best doctors I have ever been too. She listens to you and cares, unlike some of these mainstream, younger doctors that just prescribe you a pill and dismiss you. If I could give her more stars I would. Five stars for the doctor. Now her staff....a completely different story. First, awhile back I moved an hour and some change away from reading, havent seen the doctor in 2 years since I was away for training, I called and asked if they took walk ins and the secretary (or whoever picked up) said yes. She then asked me if I was there before I said yes and that was that. Drove about an hour to see the doctor (because I really do love this doctor and didnt want to consider anyone else in my area) I go in and the girl at the front desk said that I couldnt see her because I havent been there in 2 years. Why wasnt that a question asked while I was on the phone the first time around? Could have saved me 2 and half hours of driving and also wasted money on gas. Second, the staff is terrible at returning calls. You call to make an appointment, no one picks up, a machine answers and says to leave your info and that they will return the phone call in 24 hours. They called back but I missed the call, they leave a message saying call back at said number to make an appointment, I call the number and I am back to square one.... I call back and now their voicemail is full and I cant even leave a message to make an appointment. Its ridiculous. And the times I have been there the people at the front desk are extremely disorganized. Ive been avoiding changing doctors because I really do like her but her staff is making me consider to look elsewhere. I am very displeased with the service and there for I am giving it 2 stars. so if you have a great amount of patience to deal with her less than impressive staff, then I recommend going there. If things like this irritate you, find a different doctor....
