The first day I found out that I could possibly have Lupus I was in a 24/7 "doc in a box" as I call them. I was in the most intense pain that I had ever experienced. The doctor in this emergency clinic asked me if I had Lupus because my internal level of inflammation was so far of the charts that it could only indicate Lupus. This meant that my body thought that there was a virus or something wrong and was fighting against itself creating a situation of a level of increased inflammation throughout my body internally and in every organ. I was recommended to see a rheumatologist and was set up to see Dr. Gary Siegel at Arthritis Consultants of Tidewater the very next day. I had no idea what to expect. I was very afraid, and in an unbelievable pain. I was met by a very sweet group of staff at the front desk and a very kind nurse. Then Dr. Siegel entered and shook my hand with a very soft handshake indicating the care he has for all of his patients in so much pain. He took his time with me, diagnosed me, ran blood work and years later he still does the same thing. I never feel that he rushes through my appointment. Dr. Siegel is probably the most knowledgeable doctors in the Tidewater area if not beyond when it comes to pharmacology. He is constantly on top of the newest medicines and remembers from a visit six months to six months or even longer that a particular area of my body originally gave me issues and will check it out. He will tell me what meds I am on cause particular problems and will always adjust my meds accordingly. I cant think of a better or kinder doctor or more knowledgeable doctor when it comes to a variety of diseases. I highly recommended this practice because I know his associates are just as caring as Dr. Siegel. They have practices all over Tidewater. Please check them out if you are not happy with your rheumatologist or are looking for one!

Took a month to even get an appointment and then saw Dr Keck who recommended a $20,000yr med. Never heard back from her or office if meds approved by my insurance even after I sent a letter requesting what I was to do next. Felt no one cared.
