My first appointment with Dr. Olds was my one and only appointment there. I had just "graduated" from The New Hope Center at 12 weeks pregnant after having fertility treatments. The receptionist was kind and set up an appointment for two weeks from when I called. Unfortunately, at my first appointment we found out I had a missed miscarriage at 12 weeks. Dr. Olds was empathetic, but wanted a second opinion before she would schedule a d&c or medical treatment of any kind. She let me leave through the back door and referred me to EVMS MFM. This was on a Wednesday, and I called back and forth with Dr. Olds office and EVMS for two days without hearing anything. At one point Dr. Olds did leave a voicemail wanting to know how I was feeling, but not giving any information as to another appointment or plan of action. Finally someone at Dr. Olds office called me Friday at 11:30 and said I had an appointment at 1 after acknowledging I lived over two hours away. I am not sure if this was truly a mistake or if the person calling forgot to call until too late. This is where the situation started to go downhill. I called EVMS and unfortunately they werent going to be able to see me until at least the end of the following week even under these circumstances. At this point I was worried about infection. I spoke with someone named Amanda who said it would be fine if I made arrangements with another doctor to confirm the loss, and then she could work on scheduling the D&C. On my own, I arranged an appointment for Friday afternoon at another location. She told me she would send over the order for an ultrasound. On the way to my appointment I called to confirm it was sent, and this is when Amanda informed me that actually it wasnt their protocol to send orders to anywhere other than EVMS MFM. At this point, I will admit, I was feeling very upset and pushed aside. I asked if I could speak to Dr. Olds and Amanda replied, "The doctor is too busy to deal with or speak to you about this". I was shocked and told her to please cancel any other appointments I had with them. I dont believe that Dr. Olds truly said this, but I do not understand why I was being disregarded when I came to something that could potentially be very serious. I immediately made an appointment with another OB for the following Monday and they were shocked I was allowed to wait so long and explained sepsis is a real problem and potential in this situation. I would not recommend this office.

This is my first pregnancy and I am beyond exited and I will begin this whole review with me stating that I have heard and read nothing but great things about this doctor. Shes been in this field for years and years ! My first appointment I was late by about 10 minutes because I went to the wrong floor I then had to wait for awhile because other people went infront of me (understandable). Mind you this is my first appointment my first pregnancy Im on cloud 9 the time passed with an ease her office is so cute .I go on to take a pee test and the usual and wait a bit longer ;1 hour . Now to see the baby and see the heartbeat!! She said baby looks good everything looks good "keep doing what your doing" I didnt get a heart rate , I didnt get measurements I got one pic thats it . She didnt ask me if I had questions rather she popped some jokes talked really fast I could tell she was in a rush . Now I was happy with this because I didnt know that I was supposed to go home knowing The heart rate, and the measurements but its embarrassing to have tons of people ask whats the heart rate whats the measures and I dont have an answer.. now its two weeks later and they gave me a good amount of prenatal vitamins to try yay ! And so I found one I like and I called to get a prescription sent to Walmart I also stated I was constipated and asked what I could do to help she said milk of magnesia and said she would talk to mrs Olds and they would call me back . By 4 I didnt get a call they close at 5 so I called back at 4:10 she said we still have patients and havent gotten to it but we will send it out and give you a call before the end of the day it normally takes 24-48 hours for a prescription to go through . What ? I know this isnt true especially with the pharmacy I chose the Walmart on Phoenix Drive here in Virginia if you call in a prescription or even fax it in it should only take 30 minutes So here I am on no prenatals untill tomorrow or whenever they send it in . Healthy Im sure . I want to give this place a chance and I really wish things would go well but I get a run around when I ask to speak with Francine Olds and I get a run around when I just ask to get a prescription of a prenatal vitamin .

Dr Olds was nothing short of amazing from my first visit. She knew from my health history that my previous pregnancy was ectopic and so she tried for over 15 minutes to make sure I could hear my babys heartbeat not once, but twice, because she knew how much it would mean. From that visit on she made sure I could see and hear him every time to keep my mind at ease. She was always very attentive and supportive at every visit. The staff was always so friendly and helpful. At the hospital when it came time to induce because my little one was 10 days late and getting big, she was so supportive and explained everything. She was always available and gave me as long as she could before she decided she would have to perform a c section. If I ever decide to have more children, I have no doubt that I will absolutely choose Dr Olds again.

I was so amazed at how Dr. Olds and staff were so pleasent and attentive during my second pregnancy! My first pregnancy was very scary and the place i went too during that time was horrible and left me scarred and afraid to trust anyone but Dr.olds assured me my second go round would be awesome and she delivered! Literally! It was so beautiful and i would recommend her to any and everyone. Thank you so much my baby boy will be two on july 6th and i will be paying a visit really soon!

Dr. Olds is a fabulous physician. Personable, knowledgeable, and with a great sense of humor and bedside manner. Ive lived many places and had several gynecologists because of that, and she is hands-down my favorite as a gynecologist AND physician.
