Des Moines Dental Center, where should I begin? Let’s be real, nobody wants to go to the dentist and if you’re like me and had the same dentist for years but have recently relocated, the task of finding a new dentist you trust can be daunting. I will say that I tried a couple in the area before finding Des Moines Dental Center by complete chance, because it was conveniently located about the coffee shop I like to frequent. Let me just say I was not disappointed THEY ARE AMAZING and I’m a tough customer! I looked up their website, read a few reviews and decided to give it a whirl. First, Aimee, who answered the phone, was helpful and completely willing to work with my crazy schedule. We found a time that would work, she set me up for text and e-mail reminders, let me know that I could print the paperwork online and bring it with me to my appointment. The lobby area is very inviting and Aimee and Lei have a friendly banter going, which puts you at ease. It wasn’t long before cheerful dental assistant Nichole, brought me back and explained that she would be taking images of my jaw so the doctor can evaluate my entire dental health, then sat me in a chair gave me water and a magazine to pass the time while I waited. Dr. Steven Reeves was the next to introduce himself and walk me through the images, check my teeth, etc. He was very no nonsense and explained that I did need 3 fillings, right off the bat I trusted him and not only because of his 30 years of experience but because of the way his office operates and his straightforward demeanor. He cares for people and that became obvious quickly. Dental Hygienist was next (there was a bit of a wait for this part, but had a magazine and they allowed my headphones) Jenni was very friendly, careful, gentle and took extra caution in rinsing each section thoroughly (grit is one of my dental pet peeves :-), overall one of the best hygienists I’ve been to and she even scheduled my next cleaning with me for 6 months so I won’t forget and many options for the goody bag (unusual in my experience)! Back at reception, Lei handled my estimate for the fillings and patiently explained my insurance coverage, answered all my dumb questions and patiently found the soonest available time I could make work with my job. Now, came the not so fun part, getting the fillings - I was absolutely dreading it and prepared for what could be hours with my work, etc. I arrived at my appointment was brought back immediately, Nichole started the local anesthetic and the doc came in and administered the novocaine shots, he was very smooth and quick, I felt very little, waited ten minutes until I was fully numb (they made sure) and started work. He was laser beam focused on the task. I was impressed by the way Nichole seemed to know what the doctor needed as he needed it, I won’t lie there was some pain but they let me know that if they had had further to go they would have re-numbed, I can take pain though so glad they didn’t. They even accommodated my request to numb the other side and complete the 3rd filling so I didn’t have to come back, they did caution me to be very careful with eating and talking! The 3 fillings took almost exactly an hour and I was out of there. The doctor let me know that if anything was off with my bite when I became un-numb to come back and he would fix it for me. From what I have heard this is not a solitary experience, this is how Des Moines Dental Center operates, so safe to say I have found my local dentist and I highly encourage you to try it too!

Originally from N.Y. and brand new to the Washington area I knew eventually Id have to do some research for my dental care, so of course I put the search off until my situation came up and couldnt take the discomfort any longer. It being the weekend and the office was closed I left an email and received a return call 1st thing Monday morning. It being an emergency I was told theyd fit me in and to come in immediately. Awesome! I arrive to the office and are welcomed by the funny & sassy receptionist Ms. Aimee & Ms. Lei. It being Monday morning of course I have to be that guy so Im asked do you have your insurance card and of course I dont have the proper insurance card let alone who I have insurance with. Once again Im the Monday morning problematic guy lol, with the lack of info I had and shouldve known the ladies worked with me and we cracked jokes back n forth these ladies have great personalities and this is a great touch to have when entering a place of business. Even though I had to comeback an hour later due to they had to go to lunch and I havent eaten in days, I did consume there whole morning with my insurance issue I figured I owe that to them lol. I came back and was seen immediately and was welcomed by the assistant, apologies I forgot her name she took my x-rays, and Dr. Reeves introduced himself and examined me and explained what was going on with me. What happened next is what impressed me, he discussed my issue with other dental staff and whether it was for feedback or whatever I respect any doctor thats willing to give and take. Next I was passed to I believe her name was Elaine and she had me watch a video and did some slight examining & cleaning for me. Showed me different cleaning methods Waterpiks, Floss etc. Now I still have to make 2 more visits for my issue. My experience here was fantastic. Professionalism at its best, jokes at an all time high and just a warm comfortable place to come to. This team are Allstars & A++

I initially found this clinic after researching reviews on Yelp and Google. The reviews were overwhelming positive and I knew that Dr. Reeves dental practice would be a great fit for me and my teeth. Scheduling was painless and I didnt have to wait too long to have my first visit. The clinic is located near the Des Moines Marina Pier and is not too difficult to find. Upon entering, I was greeted by the coordinators, Lei and Aimee. Both are a riot! They have great personalities and provide a warm and welcoming presence. Beyond that, they are very transparent in the fees and are knowledgeable in any questions I had about billing issues. Elaine has been my hygienist twice now and I think she is wonderful. She performs a thorough job, while also providing excellent patient care. The clinic even provides headphones to listen to music and make the process more pleasant. Dr. Reeves is absolutely wonderful. Dr. Reeves utilizes very modern tools and techniques to help maintain the health of my teeth and gums. For a while now, I occasionally get pain when I brush my teeth. Never knew why and I see a dentist once a year. Dr. Reeves and Elaine noticed that I had gum recession that would eventually pose a problem. When I heard that I would need surgery, my heart sank. Fortunately, instead of the old conventional grafting technique that involves scalpels and sutures (very painful), Dr. Reeves utilizes the new Pinhole Surgical Technique that is scalpel-free, suture-free, graft-free and a whole lot less painful! It is the culmination of the culture, staff, new technologies, and overall care that has won me for life at this clinic. I highly recommend this clinic to everyone who wants excellent patient care.
