I have gone to this hospital for bloodwork, ultrasounds, non-stress tests, and labor and delivery of my baby boy. I have heard of horrible reviews about the hospital, but it is located two blocks away from where I live and decided to see for myself if this is as horrible as everyone is saying it is. I guess it depends on what you are there for, but Ive had no issues with the hospital regarding bloodwork, ultrasounds, non-stress tests, and labor and delivery of my son. The lab draw ladies and gentlemen are very nice and were a great help for me! I had gone for a three hour glucose tolerance test and, after an hour, I was very dizzy and needed to lay down. They offered up their chair in one of their blood draw rooms where I could recline and rest and checked in on me often to ensure I was doing ok. I had gone for an ultrasound at the hospital, and after a usual wait time, I was in for my ultrasound. They were very efficient and let my husband in the room with me to hear our babys heartbeat and see what the little peanut looked like! Though they didnt print out a picture for us, our cellphones took a picture of the monitor quite nicely! I had many non-stress tests, as I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. The maternity ward ladies were very informative and answered all of the questions I had while I was being monitored and were very supportive in my decision for a natural childbirth. The only issues I really had with any of the tests were to blame on a stubborn little boy inside of me not wanting to cooperate for the stress tests (he constantly moved, which did not do well as the doctor wanted 20 minutes of constant report), so I was there for 1-2 hours each time. I also went in for the Rhogam shot, and had no issues with wait times (the usual 15 minutes or so that, to me, is expected) and was out fairly quickly. I was in the hospital from March 16th through 19th for a nonstress test, which led to me being admitted because my OB didnt like how my son was reacting to the tests (nothing was wrong with him, the OB was just being cautious). I was induced March 16th in the evening with half a pill of Cytotec(sp?). That was all that was needed thankfully and I ended up giving birth March 17th to a healthy baby boy with the only drugs being the Cytotec to induce me and 5mg of a drug to help my cervix relax, as I was pushing before my cervix was fully dilated (it could have swollen my cervix shut leading to a c section which I was adamant on NOT getting!). I had a med free active labor with almost all of the nurses as well as my OB in the delivery room with my family (I was the only patient there). My only issue with that whole stay was that I did not want to deliver on my back, and that is the position they had me in (they called it "half reclined" which, to me, is on my back!). Other than that, they were very helpful and supportive and I had an excellent stay.

THE WORSE PLACE EVER DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DRIVE TO WINCHESTER OR LEESBURG, I RECENTLY WAS THERE AND FIRST THING THEY DO IS ACT LIKE YOU ARE A DRUGGIE, AND MY DR SENT ME THERE FOR A STONE PASSING, AND THEY SAID THEY DIDNT SEE ANYTHING, AND ACTED LIKE IT WAS NOTHING. WELL I GOT WORSE AND FRIENDS DROVE ME TO INOVA LEESBURG CORNWALL ER, THEY CARE ABOUT YOU SOON AS THE DR SEEN ME MADE THEM GIVE ME MEDS, DID THE SAME TEST AND GOT THE RESULTS FROM JMC, WELL LETS JUST SAY I AM ADMITTED TO INOVA NOW FOR A FEW DAYS BECAUSE THE ER DRS ARE STUPID AND SUCK, THANKS TO THEM NOT WANTING TO HELP OR JUST THINKING SOMEONE IS THERE FOR NARCOTICS. THERE ARE SEVERAL STONES PASSING, AND MY BLOOD CAME BACK SHOWING HIGH LIVER ENZYMES, AND GUESS WHAT THE ER AT JMC GAVE ME TYLENOL AFTER THEY DID BLOOD WORK, AND THE TEST SHOWED HIGH LIVER ENZYMES. AND YOU SUPPOSE TO AVOID ACETOMETAPHIN WHEN LIVER IS HIGH. ANYWAY, I AM HAVING SURGERY FOR THE STONES, AND ALSO, WHEN YOU TRY TO CALL TO TALK TO PATIENT ADVOCATES OR THE ER DIRECTOR, NO ONE KNOWS WHATS UP, AND THANKS TO THIS CARING PEOPLE HERE AT LEESBURG. HAD A PATIENT ADVOCATE COME IN AND GO OVER WITH ME ALONG WITH A HOSPITALIST ABOUT RESULTS, AND SAID GOOD THING I CAME DOWN, SO THEY ARE ACTUALLY SENDING STUFF TO THE PRESIDENT OR MAIN DR IN CHARGE. GOOD JOB JEFFERSON FIRST THINK EVERYONE IS A DRUG JUNKIE THEN NEXT GIVING A PATIENT TYLENOL EVEN AFTER THE SAME BLOOD LABS SHOWED SAME THING, BUT YET THE ER NURSE PRACTIONER, SAID LABS WERE ALL GOOD AND SO WAS XRAYS. I GUESS JMC ER PEOPLE ONLY THERE FOR A PAYCHECK AND NOT FOR CARING FOR PATIENTS......NEVER GO THERE, I WONT. THANK GOODNESS THESE DRS AT THE ER HERE WERE EVEN PISSED WHEN THEY SAID HOW CAN DRS BE LIKE THAT, MAYBE THEY SHOULD REDO YOUR ER DRS, TO NOT ACT LIKE EVERYONE IS A JUNKIE, HOWEVER IF YOU ARE A JUNKIE THEY HELP YOU. WORST ER EVER, THANKS FOR NOT CARING ENOUGH TO EVEN GO OVER RESULTS BUT SAY EVERYTHING WAS FINE, BUT ANOTHER ER GETS THE RESULTS FROM THERE AND MATCHES THEIRS. PATHETIC, GUESS I SHOULD CALL FOX5 INVESTIGATES AND SHOW EVERYONE HOW A ER TREATS PEOPLE

I would give my doctors at the WVU Womens Health and Family Medicine facility across the street a FULL 5 stars!!! Dr. Smith is the best OB/GYN Ive ever met, the nurses in his office are friendly, and my primary care doctor Dr. Deol is smart, easy to talk to, and is never too busy to answer questions. That being said, Im not a fan of a lot of the staff in the main hospital facility. While the ultrasound tech Ive seen a few times in the past (Wendy) has always been friendly and compassionate, the experience I had with another tech today made me nervous and uncomfortable. I cannot say she didnt do her job properly, as Im not an expert in radiology, but I felt very little warmth or compassion towards me as a patient, especially a pregnant woman who is looking for reassurance and to feel comfortable in that type of setting. She barely spoke to me whatsoever and was not warm or friendly. I just feel that a hospital is a place for compassionate care as well as medical attention from trained professionals, and I did not have a comfortable experience today.

Hit & miss. ER staff is mostly terrible; judgmental based on insurance, physical appearance and pain complaints (label patients as drug seeking junkies & perform drug tests for no reason if patient even mentions being in pain). ER nurses care more about hurt feelings than doing their job. ER doctors almost always misdiagnose to warrant a second visit within a few days. Inpatient care is different altogether. Most nurses are very helpful and actually care. Doctors make their rounds once or twice daily, and are professional. The only problem with this is time; there are too many patients for the availability of staff on call. Surgical team is compassionate, considerate and will advocate for patients when necessary. Physically, they can be a little rough, so recovery may be harder, but good team overall.
