I had been going to this practice for over 15 years and had never paid any "out of pocket" fees. Over the last year much of the staff has changed and the last couple visits I have been pressured to have work performed that is not covered by insurance and not necessary (like cleanings every 3 months, purchase "their" electric toothbrush, laser treatments etc). Most recently I was told 2 caps in the back bottom of my mouth had to be replaced because they were over 10 years old. They were not cracked and not bothering me. I agreed to the procedure. Without any prior discussion, after my old caps were removed I was told I should get the better caps at $295 each - over insurance costs. I was told they will "last forever". I reluctantly agreed but found out later that is not true - more often people get the better caps in the front for cosmetic reasons. At one point Dr Kaufman reached into my mouth and attempted to pull out my cap with no novocaine. The pain was excruciating and he acted like I was being ridiculous to want novovaine. He examined both my teeth without the caps and said I needed to have a procedure called gum lengthening at an out of pocket cost of $1,000 per tooth. Finally I got wise and did some research and realized the painful "gum lengthening" procedure was not necessary and I refused to have it done. In fact it was totally not necessary to have caps removed because they are over 10 years old. I have since found another dentist.

My family recently switched to this dentist office last year. Many of the female receptionist are rude. They try to get exrta money out of you by telling you you need procedures you DO NOT need then saying your insurance does not cover the whole cost of a procedure(they tried to do this to my mother and myself). I recently got a root canal with a crown because a piece of my tooth broke and my nerve was exposed. I got the pocedure done my insurance covered it all. About 4 months later (yesterday)they tell me i need another root canal on a tooth that NEVER bothered me. But this time they tell me i need a root canal and i have to pay a co-pay of $300 because the doctor who does this procesure does not participate in collecting insurance. I Said that i recently got one and it was all covered by my insurance, and she said it must have been an "error on their side" because thats how it always was and i HAD to pay the co-pay. Meanwhile my sister just got this procedure more recently than me & it was all covered as well. All they want to do is try to do whatever gets them the most money when there are simpler options like a filling in my case. I have never had a tooth pulled nor do i need any pulled and they recommended that all 4 of my wisdom teeth be pulled. I will not be returning to this office at all. There is this one hygienist she is very sweet & seems to care about her patients.

Last year during the holidays, I visited NOW Dental in severe pain on a day that Dr. Kaufman was scheduled to leave the office early for personal plans. Dr. Kaufman did a thorough exam, even calling in other dentists in his practice to collaborate, and after explaining the options, performed surgery to alleviate my pain and correct the issue. Throughout the process, Dr. Kaufman took the time to explain what he was doing and to gauge my sensitivity to ensure that I was in the least amount of pain. He worked on me for over 2 hours, and from the results, I can truly say I received excellent treatment. Later that evening, Dr. Kaufman called me to see how I was feeling. During the procedure, Dr. Kaufman explained that the most important person in the world is the one in his chair, and having experienced that, I believe it to be true. Dr. Kaufman is a highly skilled dental surgeon and caring person who took incredible care of me and I highly recommend him and the NOW Dental team to anyone seeking professional, effective dental care.

I have been a patient of MAK Now Dental for several years. The services provided by the dentists and entire staff have been exceptional. Appointments are kept punctually and the entire office operates in a friendly and professional manner. In particular I would like to praise Denise Greensmith who has provided guidance and support during a stressful period of time when I required extensive dental work. She has always taken the time to explain the timing, cost, and description of the various procedures I require. Her support and understanding has been a great comfort to me. In addition I would like to specifically praise the work of Drs. Novison, Bowman and Kaufman, all of whom provided outstanding service in a pleasant and professional manner. Accordingly I highly recommend the services of MAK Now Dental to any interested readers.
