On 4/23 I accompanied my husband to Methodist hospital Emergency room due to he had severe abdominal pain. We arrived at 3pm he was seen at the Rapid unit and was asked to provide urine then 5 minutes later we went to triage I tried to give the nurse there the urine sample she told me to hold on to it the nurse in the back would take it. He was assigned to bed 12A at 3:15 I inquired about someone collecting his urine they said to give them a minute. It wasn’t until 3:56 a nurse finally collected his urine still at this point not a nurse or physician came to see him while he was in the fetal position rocking back and forth from the pain. They could have been running his urine or sending him to get an x-ray to see if it’s his appendix which if it were to rupture it could be deadly. At 4:15pm they finally put an IV and took blood and gave him IV Motrin for the pain and at 4:35 DR Wang came to see him and said it’s possibly a kidney stone. There was another man there bleeding all over the place with previous stitches who mentioned to me he had been there for two hours and no one has attended to him. I’ve never been to a hospital where the patient or patients wife has to hold on to the urine sample for almost an hour as well as the patient is unattended to for that long. They have four beds in each pod instead of two like I have seen in previous hospital emergency rooms. Their staff looks very laid back. They also have time to joke around but not enough time to attend to the patients?. There was also an EMT by the name Anthony making unprofessional comments to one of the nurses about a homeless patient he had brought in, he was saying how the guy was kicking up a storm and she had asked him if he kicked him he was like do you think he would be here right now if he did. I was truly appalled by this emergency department, that was the first and the last time we will ever go there. One last thing I also contacted patient relations at their off hour number and the representative said she would speak to her supervisor and someone would get back to me. No one called me back regarding my complaint. They need to joke less and stop being so laid back and be more proactive. They have too many beds not enough nurses looks like all they care about is the money they can make instead of providing decent health care to those who really need it. I dont recommend this place at all.

We came to emergency room because my wife had been vomiting for few hours after getting antibiotic and pain killer for teeth pain. We were waiting for 4 hour and no one even tried to come to us. We decided to leave because my wife had started to feel better and requested to remove us from the system in order not to be charge ER co-payment, however, front desk clerk claimed that we are still going to be charged because we have already registered with ER even though doctor did not see us for 4 hours. It is fraud!

I had to go to the ER for a cut that quickly became infected. I recognized it at a staph infection and could also tell that it had entered my bloodstream and needed to be seen by a doctor immediately. At first my experience in the ER was very good. The nurses were attentive and kind and the residents/interns that came to talk to me were clear and seemed interested in how i felt. Once i saw the attending doctor and admitted to a room every thing went down hill. The doctor was rude, rough and condescending and insinuated that I was lying about what had happened even though I was not and there was absolutely no reason to lie in the first place. The nurses that i had for 4 days were also rude, forgetful and blamed anything that went wrong on me. IVs were improperly inserted and when i complained about the pain and discomfort they were causing they would ignore me for hours, refusing to remove them. Even after months later i have marks left from improperly placed IVs and the incorrect IV dosages administered over periods of time. I had to have surgery on my hand and following surgery I had to ask for pain medication at least 4 times and an hour before the last pills wore off before I would get more. Almost 2 months later I have a scare on my hand that is still painful and very rough. The only bright light was a medical student who came by to check on me several times throughout my stay. Now as I deal with the nightmare that is the health insurance and medical industry I am beyond frustrated by the whole experience. I am now paying for sub par care, to put it nicely. Something is severely wrong with the system.

My wife and I just had our first child here. While the actual birthing experience was incredible, it was also the only part of our hospital stay that used non-Methodist practitioners. Our recovery time at the hospital was truly hideous. We received different medical advice from every different staff there, which only enhanced the anxiety of dealing with becoming a parent and caring for a newborn. Clearly, some of the staff had to be offering inappropriate medical care, since they often directly contradicted each other. For instance, we were told to never use A & D ointment on our baby by one nurse, and told to use it everywhere by another. This was just the tip of the iceberg. It often took hours to do what seemed like simple tasks - having a pediatrician look at a high concentration wet diaper, for instance. We also came to learn later that some of the medical advice that the staff WAS aligned on was arcane and harmful. Apparently, it was discovered 25 years ago that using alcohol on an umbilical cord slows the healing process, and has not been recommended as a standard of care for more than two decades! I can only imagine what else we were told or how else we were treated that is not up to the contemporary medical standards. We also had a general lack of information from administrative staff that led to excessive wasted time needlessly wading through government and hospital bureaucracy dealing with her birth certificate. I was elated and relieved when we were finally discharged and could get out of that insane hamster wheel.

First visit my mom had an allergic reaction and was rushed to Methodist. Care was top rate and because she was so allergic to so many things, they put her in a private room and her nurse, a fantastic care giver, and being Muslim knew the importance of food, and products that people cannot be in contact with. All her physicians were exceptional and took time to ease both myself and my mother. Second visit, doctors would not accept her history of allergies and actually had her hours next to door to ER which set off her asthma. My mom was unable to read the food lists and had to skip meals because they gave her food she was allergic to. When she finally got into a room (two bed type), the toilet didnt work and the sink kept running water which stressed our family out even more. The person who took bag, also took all her medical paper she gathered herself and never returned them to the bag or gave her bag back. The doctors were not considerate and tried to even declare her a nut. The staff refused to call in the docs that originally treated her. Also, her small case was stolen and over 1200 dollars worth of products she used as a disabled person, was never recovered, they also refused to call security for her to file a claim. They would not let her look at her record while there, even though they would have to be read to her by someone she could trust. If you cant get the right help, leave. Even State Health Dept. says they could do nothing but report her complaint to hospital.
