The doctor that specializes in kids, Dr. Finley, seems knowledgeable and is good with kids. However, the office staff have been terrible to work with. I went for the usual yearly vision appointment and the receptionist said that it would be billed under our medical plan. I told her no, it is covered under vision, but she refused to change it, even after I asked several times. I called the next day to get it changed, and it took all morning, talking to multiple people, one extremely rude, and finally the office manager to have it billed correctly so that it would be 100% covered under our vision plan and not 100% out of pocket under our medical plan. A month later, I scheduled back-to-back appts on a day off from school, and called the day before to check to make sure they would be billed correctly, only to find that they were not there! They had been scheduled for the next week, without any communication to us. Apparently Dr. Finley would be out on our scheduled day. The person I talked to claimed she could not see anything had been changed, but Im guessing appointments were changed to accommodate vacation and someone forgot to call us to reschedule, or worse, the scheduler gave us the wrong date in the first place (I know I confirmed it a couple of times when I set it). We would have showed up and been turned away had I not called to ask about billing to avoid the same kind of mistake as before. Also, at the Tanasbourne office, the receptionist weirdly tells you to sit down without taking your name or getting you started/checked in -- she only handles one person at a time and then enters it all in the computer, THEN gets to the next people waiting. This just adds to the time you are at the eye doctor -- three hours sometimes when its all said and done. It seems all eye doctor offices are run with the same inefficient disregard for patients time. At least the doctor is good at this clinic. If the office staff does not improve, we will shop around though.

Staff was nice...but really....never go to Hillsboro Eye Clinic if you dont like throwing 2 hours of your life away. Appt at 3:30 and I didnt leave the place until 5:25. Thats almost 2 hours! Never in my life have I been to an eye doctor where Ive had to wait this long especially with 2 young kids. I was tempted to leave, but I waited that long I figured it would take longer to go find another place. Details: A nurse called us in and looked at my daughter at like 3:50(she was nice), then we had to wait in ANOTHER waiting room until the doc(who was extremely nice) was able to see us which wasnt until 5:13 and then we left at 5:25. We waited that long to have her look at her for 10min. Parking lot was full when I got there...and there was one car left besides mine when I left. Doctor apologized for the wait and she was extremely swamped...overbooked maybe? Thanks for being nice but the wait time makes my whole first experience pretty soure.

I am a new patient at this clinic but Ive been wearing a contact lens to treat a medical condition for over 15 years. I recently needed a new contact so I made an appointment with them. My initial appointment was standard and they ordered my contact lens. I return a few weeks later to pickup the lens, and was subsequently charged a $75 "fitting" fee. I understand for people new to lens care and maintenance and the proper way to insert and remove a lens, why this fee would be applicable. But for someone that has worn a lens for 15 years and didnt even receive any assistance in putting in my lens when I picked it up, is completely absurd. I disputed with the clinic and was basically told by their extremely rude billing department that I could go pack sand, pay the fee. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this clinic and will not refer any friends or family.

Had not one but two poor experiences with Hillsboro Eye Clinic and Dr DeFrank. We waited for over an hour at our first appointment and Dr DeFrank never showed up. I left having spent over an hour at the clinic and not seeing a physician. Against my better judgement, we scheduled another appointment with her the following month. We still waited 30 minutes in the exam room for her (and it was an 8:30am appointment). She concluded the eye exam on my daughter and we discussed surgery as a next step. She told me her office would call that day to schedule the surgery. When I never heard from them I was so irritated and found another phsician. Then, 1 month later, I received a call to schedule the surgery. No thanks. Apparently the only thing timely about this clinic is their billing.

Despite having received wonderful service at this clinic for many years from Dr Helzerman, now retired, I am leaving this practice as a result of their billing practices. They seem unaware there has been much economic hardship the past three years, and folks unable to pay for optional healthcare services as frequently as they would like. So to be informed that, since my last appointment was over 2 years ago, I would be charged an extra $35 for this appointment, was a deal breaker for me. Same service, different fee. Shame on you. I hope others react as I do, and leave this practice in protest.

The most incompetent office staff I have ever seen. Or dishonest crooks, Im not sure which. They billed my insurance company for services the doctor didnt perform, and my insurance company denied the claim because Im not covered for those services. I have asked them several times to correct the faulty claim so that the bill can get paid. Instead, theyve sent me to a collection agency. I dont know whether this is mere incompetence, or if theyre running a scam by sending padded claims to the insurance companies, but either way going here could end up costing you a lot of money.

I came to the HIllsboro Clinic to determine whether I had Glaucoma or not. I was very concerned when I came in on my first day. And I do have this illness. But now I feel at ease thanks to the kind, respectful and professional care of Dr. Scott, his assistants and staff at Hiillsboro Eye Cllinic. I have always received the best of eyecare and feel that the health of my eyes is well taken care of by someone I trust. I recenlty had a concern which required me to request an emergency appointment and it was tended to immediately. I highly recommend the Hillsboro Eye Clinic.

If you need cataract surgery I would not come here. Chad Goens, their cataract guy, literally said cataract surgery implies a total loss of accommodation with only one focus point. When I brought up bi-focal and multi-focal lens research, he snorted like a hog and said "not in our lifetimes". If this clown reads some more ophthalmology journals and keeps up with his own specialty then maybe hell earn some credibility.
