I work in the medical field and let me tell you how unprofessional the manager Mayra is.. I get migranes with eye glasses and have astigmatism in both eyes. I asked her to kindly submit the contact lenses through my insurance.. After calling my insurance MULITPLE times she kept telling me to call back and when my insurance said they needed more information from the provider she lied and said she submitted it but my insurance said otherwise.. The final time I called she got real rude and nasty with me.. When I asked to speak to someone above her, a medical director or whomeber.. She said shes the highest there, which made me chuckle cause managers are not the highest person to speak with.. I came in person to submit a complaint with the doctors and the other girl gave me the run around saying she would call me Friday which was 4 days ago.. Still nothing. I dont know how people are able to run the business like this and I will continue to get to the bottle of this.. She was clearly avoiding handling my paperwork because I called twice.. I work with patients daily and I understand her frustration but that does not mean you dont do your job to begin with.. Especially her giving me the run around telling me to call week after week. Its been a month and half and my insurance denied it due to the paperwork missing from my provider. Never going here again or taking my kids here!

NO STARS AT ALL!!!!! HAD TO ENTER ONE FOR THIS REVIEW TO GO IN UGG....WELL I TOLD THE EYE DOCTOR THAT I WANTED GLASSES FOR THE COMPUTER AND HE GIVES ME DISTANCE GLASSES SO I BRING THEM BACK AND WELL THIS IS WHEN THEY GAVE ME THE RUN AROUND,ATTITUDE.. MY GLASSES WHERE NOT READY FOR WEEKS, I KEPT CALLING THAT WEEK AND THE WEEK AFTER!!!! AFTER 2 WEEKS I CALLED TO SEE IF MY GLASSES WHERE READY THEY SAID THE GLASSES HAVE BEEN READY A WEEK AGO. I TOLD THEM WHY DIDNT YOU CALL ME THEY SAID THEY DID ON SATURDAY THAT WEEKEND THEY NEVER CALLED CAUSE I DIDNT GET A MISSED CALLED, A MSG OR ANYTHING... FINALLY I GO TO PU MY GLASSES AND I WAITED FOR MY GLASSES AND MY PRESCRIPTION 30 MIN !!!!!HEADS UP MYRNA THE MANAGER IS VERY RUDE, NASTY SHE WAS ARGUING WITH ME ON THE PHONE WHEN I CALLED TO CHECK ON MY GLASSES 3 WEEKS LATER SAYING THEY CALLED ME THEY NEVER DID ..... AND MYRNA SHE HAS BEEN THERE AT #NEWYORKOPTICAL FOR YEARS THEY REALLY NEED TO EVALUATE HER CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS... VERY UNPROFESSIONAL NEVER WILL I GO TO SEE A DOCTOR OR GET MY GLASSES FROM THERE OR GIVE THEM MY BUSINESS!!!!!

It took me 5 hours to get a simple eye exam. After that, I ordered my contact lenses, went back again for the "trial" of the lenses just to find they had ordered the incorrect ones. When I complained, they lied saying that my insurance didnt cover the daily contact lenses I wanted and charged me $20 for basically nothing. I called my insurance and they confirmed that they carried the brand/type of contact lenses I wanted and also told me that my co-pay is only $10, and that when you go for the trial for contact lenses you are not supposed to be charge anything. The people at New York Optical gave me the wrong lenses, were extremely rude in the whole process and basically robbed me $20. When I called Mayra (the manager) to tell her what my insurance had informed me, she was rude and unprofessional, didnt want to give me any explanation and hung up on me. This place is HORRIBLE, please save yourself a bad experience and go somewhere else instead.

This optical has the worst customer service ever. The people in the front desk are completely incompetent. I have Spectera UHC Vision Plan, I called both UHC and the Optical to ensure NY Optical takes my plan. When I go into the optical the lady gave me a hard time stating they dont take the plan. I called UHC and they are listed as providers. In fact, they inform my wife last week they take Spectera. They claimed that my insurance is only for vision health issues other than covering for eye exam. I called my provider and they cover my eye exam/prescription. To sum up, if you have a private health vision plan do not go this optical. They have incompetent staff.

I never wanted to go to this place because it seem to always be crowed. I do believe that this place need a better organizational system how they handle & respond to customers. I went to this place because I had a previous eye exam at another eye glass store along the same avenue and wasnt please with that service I received. I will say that this place gave me a detailed exam. Although my wait was long but that was due to trying to get in contact with my insurance company. I had things done to my eyes that I never had done before at any other local eye store in the area. For the area I would say this is a decent place to go.

I am warning new customers now, this company lacks competency on all fronts. Especially Genesis, she wont explain anything to you, and if she gets frustrated at the situation? she will walk away mumbling under her teeth. New York Optical I am going to take my business else where because obviously you guys have no sense of customer service. Genesis needs to be educated #1 because she speaks in ghetto slang terminology, and also needs her hair to be washed because it looked greasy as hell. THank you for your excellent service. NOT. and please take a breath mint cause your breath was horrible.

Had a terrible experience, Mayra who has been there for so many years is no longer speaking to her old regular customers, instead she has these young girls who lack customer service. I had a pair of sunglasses which were not ready on time. And to top it off they messed up my prescription, they made me feel like they were doing me a favor when they gave me a discount, which they offer the same discount to everybody even old customers. To top it off my mother left a pair of glasses to come back next week to find out they were sold. Lack of communication and professionalism!

I came to pick up a pair of sunglasses I dropped off to have the lenses replaced. I was told they would be ready two hours earlier, but when I arrived I still had to wait half an hour. On top of that, when I walked in I went up to the counter and waited while the salesperson finished with another customer. It took about ten minutes before another customer walked in, stood a few feet behind me, and the salesperson greeted her, asked what she was there for and proceeded to take the customers receipt to go find her glasses.

This is the most unprofessional place I have ever been to. The so called manager is horrible! She always tells patients she will call them back and NEVER follows up. Then she NEVER remembers what she said the last time you spoke with her. I dont know how they have been In business so long. You have to constantly call or go there in order to see whats going on with your glasses. Will definitely be looking for a new eye doctor for our next yearly visit. Please dont waste your time or energy going here.
