I have been using Croton Animal Hospital for many years and so grateful to have the best care for my pets (and personal service), that Ive experienced in all my years of pet ownership and many rescues along the way. Dr. Hoskins is top notch with a staff to match. From the front desk to the vet techs, many have also been there for years and the office is very well run with lower "wait times" (10 min tops) than most vet or even doctors offices. Yet, I have never felt rushed and all the doctors take the time to thoroughly explain what is going on and to answer all of your questions (Drs Popolow and Gustavson are great too). I really dont know how they manage to keep such a tight schedule AND spend all the time you need with your pet, but they do! Charlene and the other girls run the front office like clock work! They are also very caring (to both pets and their owners) and help to guide you through every decision and almost always follow up with phone calls to see how your pet is doing! I wish my own doctors could take a lesson! The vet techs too are some of the best in the business and have been there for as long as I can remember… Ed, Melissa and Diane are wonderful (Diane should be sainted for her tireless work with the sick, orphaned and hopeless animals that have found their way into her home when NO ONE else would take them!!). The last I will say is that over the course of the years I have had to make the hard choice to say goodbye to some of my beloved babies and could not have a had a more caring partner. And while it never gets easier, Dr. Hoskins and staff work with you every step of the way to help make it as gentle a process as possible. Ironically, just as I was writing this one of the newer techs (Erin) called to see how my "Baby" is doing after her procedure this week! I honestly dont know price wise how they compare to other vets (as I havent used anyone else for years) but even if they are a bit more expensive, Im sure its in the ballpark and would say it worth EVERY extra penny!! You cannot put a price on your pets health and youre own peace of mind (unless you really just cannot afford quality care and must use a shelter service, etc.). This is my letter of thanks to Dr. Hoskins and everyone at Croton Animal Hospital.

The receptionists and vet assistants were very sweet. The veterinarian I feel is a crook. I brought my dog in for treatment of a bite wound, smaller dog. He was bitten by my neighbors dog, had puncture wounds n lacerations to the neck. The doctor examined my dog and said he would need xrays, stitches and antibiotics. I handed my neighbor the bill of 1500$. After examining the bill with him we noticed most of the charges consisted of medications that were completely unnecessary for my dog. Although my dog was treated well, I feel the doctor completely took advantage of the situation by adding on more charges for no reason that my neighbor had no choice but to pay. More than half the meds prescribed I returned because they were not needed. I brought my dog back a couple days later had to leave him for the day. They sent me another bill receipt via email which said 256$ for that visit. But printed me a bill for $303. I dont think u need to be a genius to realize that this place is crooked. My dog was fine without all those meds. If your looking for honesty here, your not gonna get it. I saved my neighbor over 500$ with no help of this place. I cant complain about treatment. But this place is a big scam, for a 15lb dog with a bite wound to be prescribed more meds than a cancer patient, is astronomical. I wont be going here again under any circumstance.

I am Veterinary Technican and work in NYC. I was pet sitting a friends dog and brought my friends dog here for acute allergic reaction to a bee sting since this was her Veterinarian. They took me right away. They are very honest and caring. I know that she could have been fine without any treatment. I also know that she could have gone into anaphylaxis and died. To the people that are saying they are a rip off beacuse they charged for stuff not needed and they were fine without it. You took a gamble and won. The doctors treat your animal to prevent worst case scenarios. You cant say your animal was prescribed medicine that was not needed. Unless you want to risk your pets wound becoming necrotic and dying. Ive been a Veterinary Technican for 15 years. Trust me. They are not crooks. They are charging for the gold standard of care. Everyone has their opinion, but I cant stand around and see a good vet practice loose customers over wrong information. Thumbs up guys!

At last count, I have taken 16 of my animals to Croton Animal Hospital over the past 21 years, including my current crew of 4 parrots, 2 dogs and 1 cat. Many of my animals have had complex medical issues that required ongoing care and the staff at Croton Animal Hospital has never failed me. The doctors are extremely knowledgable, competent, capable, available and provide a level of care I wish I had for my own medical care. When they dont know the answer to something they are not afraid to say so and to then go find that answer. The staff is compassionate, helpful, caring, welcoming and very personable. When necessary, they make referrals to specialists and follow up with every referral. I cannot say enough good things about them, and having gone elsewhere in the past, would not consider any other hospital.

Our cat Molly got unexpectedly sick recently, and passed away after only two weeks. The staff at Croton Animal Hospital are the kindest, sweetest people you will ever meet. Not only did they do everything possible to save her life, they truly care about the animals that they work with. Dr. Hoskins checked in with us everyday after her surgery, giving us his cell phone number in case we had questions or concerns. After our Mollys death, the staff was supportive and we were pleasantly surprised when we received notice that they had made a donation to local animal shelter in Mollys name. We will continue to take our cat Freya, and any other pets we may have in the future, to this hospital for all veterinarian care. They are truly an outstanding organization.

Wow, what a great experience we had with Dr. Mark Gustavson and with Ed, the Vet Tech! We brought our feral/stray 8 month old cat Brodie to the clinic for his first vet visit. We were concerned that Brodie would need to be sedated because we thought he would be stressed out. On the contrary, Eds patient and calm demeanor left us speechless as he lifted Brodie out of the cat carrier without a problem and proceeded to do the preliminary check-up. Then, Dr. Mark came in and continued to examine Brodie with tender care and concern. We are thankful that we found this clinic and look forward to many more years of care for our sweet Brodie.

My 11 year old cocker spaniel has been a patient at CAH most of her life. Unfortunately, she has some serious health problems. The staff at CAH are always very attentive to her needs, fitting her in for same day appointments whenever she is sick as well as being kind to my animal. This is a huge plus for me. I especially value the opinion of her regular vet, Dr. Hoskins. He always explains things well and returns any calls left for him. My only qualm is the huge expense of having a sick animal, yet I do not believe this is the fault of CAH. It just seems to be the norm where we live.
