After having moved to NY from a different state I was looking for a new OD. I read the reviews for this doctor before going and it was a toss up. So I gave it a try. When I arrived there were 2 people talking at the front desk. Neither stopped to even say hello so I stood and waited. Finally they said, "Your name?" (NO Hello) I gave it, then the one behind the desk told me to sign the brown board" and pointed behind me. So Im thinking brown board, brown board, wheres the brown board? I couldnt figure it out. Then the other woman that had been standing there very loudly said the "the brown board on the wall!" and pointed past me. Oh.. they meant the brown clip board that was hanging on the wall. I never would of guessed. I signed the brown board and sat down. Also the 2nd woman that had been standing on the outside of the reception desk turned and grabbed the next patient. Turns out she was the doctor. We werent starting off well. As I sat there, the receptionist stood, leaned over the desk and said "Here" while shoving another brown clip board at me. "Fill this out" was all that was said and she didnt say what to do when I was done. While I was doing this the receptionist came around the desk to go into a room very close to me and sit and chat about furniture with another pt. Once done filling out my paperwork, I waited. She walked past me twice and each time I tried to get her attention to ask what to do with my clip board, but was ignored. Finally they came to take me back and she took the clip board. Once in the room she turned off the lights and was having me read the chart across the wall. Oh! Lets not forget that she didnt clean the "blue spoon tool" that she gave me to place over 1 eye. While reading the letters across the way, the doctor barged in, and started talking over me. That was it. I couldnt take it anymore. I stood up and said, "Im so sorry, I have to leave. This is the worst place I have ever been. Please shred that paperwork." And walked out. I called to another OD in the area, who not only got me in that day, but was so lovely and friendly it made up for this experience. (That office mentioned that they had gained SEVERAL pts from Dr. Ulmer for the same reason I went to them.) I will NEVER be returning. Nor would I EVER recommend anyone going there. Lastly, the office did have my number, as I left them with my paperwork, and they could have righted their wrong. But they did not.

I havent been to an optometrist who wasnt located in a 1 hour or less establishment since I was a kid. Being relatively new to the area I decided to try out a local business. Loved the service and attention, and really felt like I got a good exam. Highly recommend.

Just had another checkup - I believe the checkup was thorough and it was pleasant - this is a lower key office and unhurried, not a factory setting. I do think the range of mens frames is a bit limited, but satisfactory.
