I had a horrible experience at this office yesterday. I had a 5pm appointment and was not seen until 6pm but that wasnt the worst part. Once I got to see Dr. Blaes she glanced at my daughters xrays (we were there for braces) and immediately with so much frustration started complaining about how much work this was going to be for her and saying things like "this is horrible" and "this is a mess" and its ugly. She then asked why I had not taken my daughter in sooner to get some teeth extracted, and because of that now her work would be much harder. Her tone was so derogatory and made me feel extremely uncomfortable. After listening to her rant I assertively asked if she could fix my daughters teeth and she said yes. I guess she caught herself and fixed her tone right away which made her sound fake. Then when she left the room my daughter asked if her teeth were ugly. No mother should have to explain to her kid that the dentist "didnt mean to say that" . Long story short I didnt leave the office until 7pm because of course it takes a whole other hour to come up with a game plan and a quote for braces. (I honestly think she forgot we were in the room) When the receptionist asked if I wanted to schedule an appointment to start the process, I respectfully declined. I will not go back there because of her. And its a shame because Dr. Longoria and the dental assistant who has worked with my daughter (cant remember her name) are so sweet. I have never met such an unprofessional doctor.

I have been going to De Zavala dental for 3 years straight. I am impressed with the quality of work by Dr. Blaess and her associates. I first went in with numerous cavities and one root canal. Dr. Blaess and her staffs spent the time discussing the treatment plan making sure that I was comfortable with it. Dr. Blaess was very gentle with the anesthetics that I hardly felt pain. Dr. Blaess takes pride in her work making sure that the bite is perfect. She always makes sure that I am happy with the natural bite, and “never let anyone to tell me to get used to a bite.” I had root canal done on one of my front teeth. So immediately I was worried how the crown would look especially it being in the front. But I was very happy with the new crown. The shade matches perfectly and the crown blends in naturally with the other teeth. Dr. Blaess sees a lot of patients. Sometimes the office could get a little busy and you may expect for a wait. But I always had stuffs to work on so the wait never bothered me. Plus having a line of customers waiting is the best testimony that good work is being done here. I always feel nervous about going for my dental visit and I don’t think that feeling would ever go away. But I feel comfortable and assured when stepping into Dr. Blaess’ office knowing that my problems will be well taken care of. I mean, how often do you get a warm text message from your dentist asking how are you doing?

I want to share an experience I had with Dr. Blaess. Several months ago I was in excruciating pain due to an infected tooth. My regular dentist informed me that I needed a route canal but unfortunately, he was not able to perform the procedure for another month. Because I was suffering from such terrible pain a colleague of mine recommended her dentist by the name of Dr. Blaess. Although her schedule was completely booked for the next two months, Dr. Blaess agreed to see me immediately and perform the surgery the following weekend! The procedure went perfectly and I have been pain free ever since. Shortly after visiting Dr. Blaess my husband broke his tooth and it was essential to have it fixed as we were taking a family vacation the following week. I called Dr. Blaess and she agreed to see him later that week! What is most amazing to me is that Dr. Blaess repaired his tooth that weekend even though her office is normally closed. She did not charge us extra for the weekend visit and the procedure went flawlessly. I am so thankful to have found Dr. Blaess. Her compassion, professionalism, and impeccable work make her an outstanding dentist and a wonderful human being. Suffice to say, I have recommend Dr. Blaess to all of my friends and family.

Recently, I was invited by a friend to try a new dentist office as the time neared for my 6-month checkup approached. I went into the appointment wondering if I had made a wise decision, leaving my previous dentist of the past four years. I was not disappointed!! The De Zavala Dental staff were topnotch! Louis proved to be a thorough and excellent hygienist, taking great care of my teeth. He was followed by Dr. Longoria’s exam, where she handled my case with care and compassion, making note of a long-overlooked problem and making the decision it was now time to take care of it. I had to agree, it had been too long, but not too late to repair the problem tooth before it became a major problem and thus more expensive. On either side of the care in the operations area, I received phenomenal care from Katina. She had partially filled out my new patient paperwork in order to save us time and quickly got me back to the operations area for my care. During the out-processing, she worked with me to find the best times in my busy schedule for my follow-up appointments. She genuinely cared about providing the best care possible. A great team and a great office, very glad I switched!

During my first and last deep cleaning at De Zavala Dental, Dr Blaess trivialized my allergy disclosure and used an anesthetic that caused me to have a severe reaction. She offered no alternative anesthetic and clearly did not care that the one she used on me had major side effects for me. She just told the hygienist to get started and walked away while I was shaking uncontrollably, feeling like my heart was about to beat out of my chest and having difficulty breathing. Throughout the procedure, I got to listen to her argue with a dental equipment salesman in the hall. After the procedure, she didnt check in to see how I had done or if I would be coming back for the other half of my dental work. She showed no accountability or compassion whatsoever, and was far more concerned about saving a few minutes by using the anesthetic that was already prepared, than making me comfortable or protecting my health.

I really love coming to De Zavala Dental. I have been coming here for 5 years now. Mrs Norma De La Garza is extremely professional and always makes me feel at ease! I honestly have stayed here because of her. I have had some bad experiences ( at other dentist offices) but she has always made me feel calm within each cleaning and procedure! I highly recommend her for your next cleaning! I also like how Dr. Blaess and Dr. Longoria take their time to explain to their patients or just to inform us. They are excellent all in all this is the reason why I have stayed for their professionalism and also for caring so much for their patients! Keep up the great work! Your service is appreciated!
