I cant even explain how horrible my experience was with this hospital emergency room, along with the doctor who sent me there and who misdiagnosed me. What would you do? I get a call from doctor who says I need to go to South Nassau hospital to get a shot of antibiotics as he thought I had divaticulitis. So I go and from the fist person I meet to the last I keep telling and asking the same thing. How much will this cost as I do not have any insurance. No one could answer that question, then they tell me to get undressed and get into a hospital gown, and I ask, why. They say that its procedure. So who am I to argue, I just went ahead and did as I was told. Then there are 4 nurses lined up looking to take blood, Xrays and who knows what else??? So I ask whats this all about, and I get the same answer. Its procedure. I again state that I was sent here just to get a shot. Not sure why I let the first nurse take my blood, but at least by then I started to get pretty worried as to where this was going, so I told them to stop and to not do a blood test as I just had a full blood test a few days ago. Then the fun begins. I ask to speak to the doctor who isnt there yet. So I say I want to leave and they refused to give me my clothes and said I had to wait for the doctor. Who after about 2 hours finally shows up, and I ask him what the heck is going on. He says, "youre being admitted" and I say "WHAT,,,,, dont you think it would have been a good idea to tell me that?" I ask him "whos going to pay for all this and how much is it going to cost? He says "you dont have insurance? And I say " Ive been saying that for some time now. From your office visit to this hospital. So he...... walks away. I let them give me the shot and I finally get out of there, still not having any idea how much the shot just cost me. Then I get a bill for almost $4000.!!!!!!! thats right four thousand. I cal several times to try to make sense of it and offered to pay what I came in there for, which was a shot. On the bill is almost $1000 for blood work, not to mention work that was never done like a urine analysis. I never gave them any. $1166 for being admitted, which I never was. and of course the bill for the shot of antibiotics $700 plus what looks like an additional $300 for some other additional drug they say they gave me. I made several attempts with them back in 2012 to resolve this and they kept saying there was nothing they could do. Then I get one of my checking accounts debited for the amount of the bill from a lawyer (Mullooly, Jeffrey, Rooney & Flynn) A real bunch of class acts. Several more phone calls now go between me and the hospital and the doctor who all kept saying the same thing. "sorry theres nothing we can do. What added more insult to injury is that they took the money from a checking account I use to raise money to build homes for wounded warriors, cops and firefighters through an organization called the Stephen Siller foundation. They cleaned out the account leaving less than $1000 putting me in a difficult financial situation with the event ready to kick off and I no longer have the funds to start putting everything into motion. So thank you hospital staff who couldnt do anything about this, and thank you to the moron of a doctor, and the class act of lawyers you sicked on me. I will ever be grateful.

DONT go there if you will have even the remotest need of physical therapy when you get out!! My mother was in for 1 month battling pneumonia. For the last 2 weeks Ive made it known to the social workers that I wanted my mother to go to the in house Transitional Care Unit. When the discharge day arrived the social workers informed me that the Therapy Unit would NOT accept her. When I arrived at the hospital, I went to the Therapy Unit to question why they would NOT accept my mother. Their 1st response to question was that because my mother has BCBS HMO, they would be restrained to the parameters of the insurance company. BCBS would only approve a few days at a time and they would have to keep writing progress reports and requesting more days. When I responded that in December 2016 my mother needed rehab after a hospital stay, BCBS approved 20 days from the beginning, the therapists had a different excuse. The 2nd excuse was that my mother needed a lot of therapy and when her time was up, if she needed more therapy, BCBS wouldnt approve anymore time at a different facility. So in conclusion the Transitional Care Unit at South Nassau Community Hospital wont accept a patient if there is a possibility of to much paperwork. I had assumed that physical therapists would want to help a patient regain their strength and walk again, but I was incorrect.

This hospital was beyond terrible. Ive never experienced anything so bad in my life. All the nurses are nice but extremely lazy. It takes them 5 minutes minimum 10 minutes maximum just to respond to a patient pressing the button for a nurse. Sometimes they just click over to you to act as if theyre going to talk to you and then they just hang it up so that the beeping can stop. Then when they actually do come in half of them have attitudes as if this is not what theyre paid to be doing. On top of this I was released today and was told they had called in my pain medication and other medications Id need after surgery so all Id have to do is pick it up... WRONG! They never even sent the prescriptions to my pharmacy and then when Id called to see what happened they had the nerve to ask if I gave them the correct pharmacy... yes I gave you the correct pharmacy its printed on every page where it says pharmacy. So now I have to wait extra time to get pain medication and other medications which should have already been ready had they not have lied and sent it in. This is a disgusting excuse for a hospital and I dont see how theyre still open. I wish I could give them zero stars cause thats the only rating they deserve even a one is too high for this junkyard.
