I went to the Eye Care Center for the first time last week, had a full eye exam, and today picked up my new glasses and contact lenses. I was highly pleased. Here are some highlights: 1. The staff. I can hardly speak highly enough of the staff members. They were extremely polite, professional, friendly, and helpful. Even though my insurance managed to cause them some troubles, they sat down with me and made sure I had the absolute best possible coverage. 2. Frames. One of the staff members was very helpful when I was picking out frames. I told her my budget, and she did not once try to push me to get a pair that went over it. I told her what I wanted, and she looked for frames that fit my specifications. Today, when I went in, another staff member helped me fit the glasses to my face and made sure they sat evenly, etc. This is my fifth pair of frames and fits better than any I’ve had before. 3. I saw Dr. Sara Johnson. She was as polite and professional as the other staff members. She struck me as highly intelligent and knowledgeable and answered all of my questions very well. 4. The exam. I’ve been having eye exams every couple of years for more than a decade, and was very impressed. In addition to the basic vision exam, they also had a machine that took pictures of the inside of my eye so they could check for inflamed blood vessels and other hazards. There are a lot of things that I’ll get second-rate products for, but I’m determined to take excellent care of my eyes, so I did my homework before picking a place to go. It paid off. This place is highly recommended.

Review No. 3: Annual checkup today. Perhaps the most succinct comment I can make about Dr. Bro is that he is the only person associated with the medical profession that I have ever actually enjoyed visiting! Another excellent and efficient appointment today, in response to what I feared could be a serious eye problem (it was not, fortunately). I was surprised to get an appointment so quickly, and as always, it is an enjoyable and pleasant undertaking visiting Dr. Bro. He takes all the time necessary to do a thorough job and explain everything in detail. (Earlier post): I was not satisfied with the eye clinic I had used in the past, as my impression was that they were more concerned with selling glasses than with the health of my eyes. Dr. Bro was recommended to me, and the difference in philosophy was obvious from the minute I walked in. Dr. Bro and his staff spent much more time with me than I had anticipated, never making me feel rushed. Dr. Bro was extremely thorough, highly professional, and taught me more about eye care and eye health in one day than I had learned in dozens of visits to other clinics. Kudos also to Mindy and her assistance with my glasses. She understood my concerns, what I wanted, and was enormously helpful. I have actually had staff at other clinics argue with me about my choices and requirements. Mindy could not have been more accommodating. This clinic is a breath of fresh air and a delight to do business with.

Dr. Bro comes across as earnest and truly interested in giving you the best eye care possible. But Im giving only 2 stars (and that feels generous) because the staff sent me out of the office with the wrong prescription! After my exam and payment, I asked for a written copy of the prescription. They printed it out and had the doctor sign it. When I got home and compared it with past written prescriptions, it didnt look right. I went back the next day and asked about it, and was told that they must have printed it before the doctor had completed my chart. Nonetheless, they had given it to me as a valid prescription! Had I not questioned it, I would have used it to buy glasses with the wrong lenses. Definitely a fail. At least they printed a new copy with the final prescription for me and it looks reasonable. Update: I had some glasses made elsewhere, and they didnt work for me. I went back and saw Dr. Bro, and he spent a lot of time checking my prescription, concluding that the glasses had not been made correctly. He was patient and thorough, and wrote out an explanation that I was able to use to get the lenses re-made at the other shop. Im waiting for the new glasses, but appreciate the time and attention from Dr. Bro, and am revising my rating of this office.

I called Saturday to make an appointment to get contact lenses on Monday. After making the appointment I asked the lady on the phone how much this was going to be and she said "85 dollars." I arrived at my appointment only to be met with dumbfounded looks by the girls at the front desk. It seems they knew nothing aside from the fact that I did have an appointment scheduled, first asking if I had filled out any paperwork online (would have been nice to know that was available) then asking for my medical insurance card after I had already told them I was paying out of pocket. After a quick conference it was determined that I needed to bring in the prescription from my most recent exam. Then, after somehow realizing for the first time that I was active duty military, they determined that I didnt need to bring in my exam, but I was going to have to pay an additional 130 dollars for the full exam. Of course I refused and walked out. I would advise anyone thinking about trying this place to call ahead of time and ask LOTS of questions. There could be a pleasant experience waiting past the ridiculousness of the front desk, but I wouldnt know.

After trying ridiculously hard to make an appointment with an eye doctor that was just down the street from me (it literally took me three days to reach these people, and after I finally reached them I spent almost 20 minutes waiting for the receptionist to find our insurance plan, just for her to tell me that the policy number that I was giving her was a social security number and not a policy number, which, I assured her, it was not) I finally decided to look elsewhere for an eye doctor. I immediately found the Eye Care Center of Colorado Springs online and saw that you could conveniently make an appointment online. I quickly made an appointment within 5 minutes and received a conformation email within seconds. I was also able to fill out all of my information online so that when I arrived at my appointment they could see me within minutes. Honestly, it was the fastest and most efficient eye care facility I have ever been to. My whole family has now started going there, and I am recommending them to all of my friends!

I had an amazing experience getting fitted for my contacts here Dr. Reed Bro is an excellent eye doctor and very upbeat personality, you can tell he loves what he does. Cant thank him enough, best most confortable contact fitting Ive ever had. That being said, it was a pain trying to get my prescriptions emailed to me so I can start ordering after my one week trial. I had to call twice to ask whats going on that I havent received my prescription yet via email. I get a very dismissive response from one of the ladies, telling me they are "too busy with clients" right now (um, am I not a client too? really??) that she will send it to me whenever she can, which is the last thing I needed to hear after giving them more than reasonable time (waited almost 2 hours) after the initial call to ask to have it sent to me. At that point I told her its either now, or Supervisor. She sent it immediately. Other than dealing with that, I look forward to ordering my new contacts and I would still recommend this place!
