I went to Dr. McDougal after over 20 years of seeing another eye doctor who was getting ready to retire. I was totally impressed with his level of detail in giving me my eye exam. He told me things about my eyes that my other eye doctor had failed to mention for 20+ years. These are important things to know about my eyes as I get older. Dr. McDougal told me about them on my very first visit! I then picked out a pair of frames with the help of the girls in the office. They were very patient with me as I tried on numerous pairs, went back and forth between a few pairs, and asked their opinions. They were very meticulous in making sure that my eyes were centered in the frame, and that there would be enough room for the progressive bi-focal. They took really good measurements for the placement of the progressive bi-focal to be sure that it would be right where I wanted it, based on the way I hold my head and look at things. When the glasses came in I couldnt have been more pleased with them. I had the glasses for nearly 2 years, and didnt even have a single hairline scratch on them until I fell down and took a face plant the other day! The quality of the lenses is superior to any I have ever had before. For those 20+ years I always got the top of the line lenses, but they do not even come close to the quality of the lenses from Dr. McDougals office. I returned to Dr. McDougals office for my yearly exam, and my eyes had not changed enough to warrant new lenses, and mine didnt have any scratches on them. He did, however, tell me about the progression of the things that were keeping any eye on as I get older. Its obvious that the continuing care of my eyes is very important to Dr. McDougal. Now, back to the face plant thing. After having my lenses and frames for nearly 2 years without even a single hairline scratch on them (superior quality) I totally destroyed the left lens of my glasses when I fell on the concrete while we were out of state. Coincidentally a friend we know has a friend that owns an optical lab in Oklahoma City where we were. He called in a favor for us, and I got new lenses for my glasses. I had to take what the lab had in stock as we were leaving the next day. When they looked at the lenses they told me that their lenses would not be as good as the ones I had from Dr. McDougals office. Another testament to the quality of the lab that Dr. McDougal uses. When I put the new lenses on it was almost like my prescription had changed, and they said that it was because these lenses werent as good as my previous lenses, and the field of vision was a little different. After a couple of days I have gotten used to the new lenses, but I can tell that the quality of my lenses from Dr. McDougals office was superior in every way. They were more expensive, but well worth it, since Ive been able to actually experience the difference that quality can make. I also have a pair of computer glasses from Dr. McDougals office. Im very glad that they talked me into them. Since progressive bi-focals dont have much room, I was constantly tilting my head back, and getting a neck ache when I used my computer for any length of time. The computer glasses are great! No more neck aches. I can work at my computer for hours. So, all in all, Dr. McDougals office is great!!! If you just want a cheap eye exam and cheap glasses then go somewhere else, but if you want a quality eye exam and quality glasses then go to Dr. McDougals office. You wont regret it.

Stopped here today to show my girlfriend some frames to see what she thinks about them and to make an appointment - something that takes about five minutes... Well, it was a Saturday at about 2:45 pm and the listed time on the door shows that theyre open until 3:00 pm. Perfect, right? Nope. As we walk in the door, the woman at the front desk, as well as the young employees behind the corral of chairs blocking off the area with frames immediately stopped what they were doing and gave us a blank, deer-in-headlights stare, such as one would give if an alien walked in the door. After a few seconds the woman at the counter gave us a firm "Yes?", us unaware that we were obviously intruding on something. I explained that we only wanted to quick look at some frames and was informed that they would be locking up in ten minutes but we could come back at a later time. Sorry Dr. Guy. Sorry that you lost out on a new customer, but more sorry that your staff is the reason.

We had a great experience at this office. My son had already had an eye exam at a different doctors office but after the exam, they told us they didnt take our insurance so we decided to go elsewhere to get the glasses ordered. The first office we tried wouldnt work with us because we hadnt had his exam at their office. Thankfully we tried McDougal Eye Center. They were very helpful and willing to work with us. We worked with an optician named Cris. She was so kind and patient with us. She helped us pick the perfect glasses for my son- she gave us suggestions on pairs to try and helped us decide on a pair that not only made sense as far as wear and durability but also that looked best on him. It was so nice to have such a helpful, knowledgeable employee who took the time to make sure we got the best deal and a pair of glasses my son would be happy with. We will definitely go back there!

We have been patients of Dr. McDougal for several years. We continue to be impressed with his thorough exams as well as his ability to make sure the patient understands the purpose for which each test is given. He explains the results and possibilities while allowing time for questions and concerns without the feeling of being rushed. Our young children have also seen Dr. McDougal and we have been happy with the manner in which he treated them. They were a little apprehensive about going to an "eye doctor" but he made them feel at ease as he included them during the examination process. We have referred good friends to him because we know he is the best and he wants whats best for YOU!

I started seeing Dr. McDougal 20 years ago, but when I changed jobs, his office could not accept my new insurance. I was very happy when he opened his new office in Mesa a couple of years ago. During the years in between, I had been to at least three different doctors, none were as friendly or professional as Dr. McDougal and his team. I recently had an appointment with Dr. Carlson, who is also great, very helpful and professional. I highly recommend McDougal Eye Center.

I really enjoyed my experience with this office. I was able to schedule my appointment online through ZocDoc and received a confirmation email from the Dr.s office. The staff was friendly and the wait was relatively short. From the time I walked in the door to the time I walked out, it had only been 40 minutes. There was no hassle about my insurance and no pressure to purchase products I did not express an interest in. I will definitely be coming back next year.
