I have been to this clinic twice -- once because of an eye abrasion and once for a standard eye exam. The scratched eye service was excellent and well worth the larger co-pay for visiting with an opthomologist. However, for my eye exam I waited a long time, and there was bad communication regarding billing that made what should have been a cheap copay into an exorbitant visit. I felt rushed out the door by an impatient receptionist who refused to call my employer to verify the billing information which was the source of the problem. I have never been to an eye clinic which refused to double check coverage with my employer--the last 4 different clinics in Austin I have been to all were happy to do this and as a direct result, no billing problems. I fully intended to purchase a pair of frames and lenses. However, the impatient receptionist changed my mind about wanting to do business with these people. When I learned that the visit was billed improperly, the billing staff tried arguing with me that my visit was a diagnosis instead of my yearly eye exam. I would never go here for eye exams and lenses. However, if I had something seriously wrong with my eye, I would consider returning.

Although the staff in general were very courteous and professional, my experience with Dr. Henderson was so infuriating that I have to write a review. Even though I was extremely polite and said very little, he spent the entire exam badgering me and almost seemed to take pleasure in demeaning me. In the process, critical information was not discussed. I didnt even leave with any information about my corrective lense prescription. He simply left the room with no instructions. I didnt even know if I was supposed to leave or what to do next. I left feeling very angry, humiliated and with more questions than I walked in the door. Just in case they try to respond here and make it seem like they are sorry I had a bad experience - I informed the front desk as well as called back later to speak to the office manager and nobody responded.

After being a patient at an optometrist office near the UT campus for many years, I decided to find a place that had better customer service and treated me as a human and not a paycheck. I randomly chose the Eye Clinic of Austin from my insurance plan because they were close to my apartment, and I was pleasantly surprised. Not only was Dr. Prosise friendly and knowledgeable, each of the front desk staff members were very courteous as well. Additionally, I began feeling faint during my visit and Matthew, the technician, was so kind to give me a rice cake to help me feel better. I always appreciate an office where everyone seems happy to see me, and treats me as more than just another nameless patient. The Eye Clinic of Austin certainly proved to me that offices like that do still exist!

What is commendable about the Eye Clinic of Austin? the reception staff is friendly and attentive, and they immediately got me in when I had light flashes the night before ; the optical department is very helpful in choosing a pair of frames and was very accommodating when I was not happy with my transition lenses; Dr. Hendersons nurses are warm and the techs have expertise in administering the various eye tests. Lastly, you know Dr. Henderson is the best there is for taking care of your eyes, and being diabetic, that is very important. My husband had lens replacements in both eyes and was extremely pleased with the result.

I have a been a patient with Dr. Henderson and Eye Clinic of Austin, along with my mother and father, for about six years. Dr. Henderson and his team continue to provide top notch care for us as they did from the very first appointment. While this clinic has expanded its practice over the years, their attention to detail has maintained throughout. I was fortunate to participate in a recent study with Eye Clinic of Austin for a new opthalmic drug therapy and look forward to another one which is due to begin soon. For anyone interested in quality eye care, Eye Clinic of Austin should always be the number one choice!

Dr Henderson has seen me through cancer of my eyelid, cataracts after surgery, has seen me weekly at times and I am certain he alone has saved my vision. He is an outstanding Ophthalmologist and very talented. He loves his work and truly loves his patients. His staff are the most talented and friendly and knowledgeable people I have ever met in any MDs office. I am one of the lucky ones who has been seing him now for about 20 years and still have my vision due to many miracles he has performed and the attentiveness of his employees. Thanks Dr. Henderon, you are the bomb!!

I live in San Antonio but would drive from El Paso, if need be, to see Dr. Henderson. He and his staff are outstanding. His skills and expertise are world-class and so is his empathy and concern. He takes time to really listen and learn the individual needs of his patients, and then tailors his approach to match those needs. From the moment you enter his office youll be treated as an individual and not a number, and that personal touch remains throughout your time there...and beyond. You really will not find a better doctor, and person, than Dr. Henderson

The front desk and technical staff are always friendly showing high professionalism and provide excellent customer service, which includes their accounts personnel for those rare occasions that they are contacted. I was lucky in finding Dr. Henderson on my first attempt in locating an ophthalmologist and have remained with him for over 15 years. I have found him to be concerned not only with my eyes, but also with my overall health which is refreshing. As such, when I have an extensive wait on rare occasions, it is not distressing. An outstanding clinic!

I do not see how any medical clinic could perform their service better than Eye Clinic of Austin does. The pleasant office is staffed by courteous, efficient and helpful folks who all seem glad to be working there. Dr. Henderson is a wonderful physician and very thorough. In what is obviously a busy practice, neither he nor his staff ever make me feel rushed. Dr. Henderson always welcomes me and takes the time to answer all questions as well as give any advice necessary. Eye Clinic of Austin makes an appointment as pleasant as could be expected.

Ive been going to this clinic since the late 80s l, and the clinical staff and doctors have been consistently professional and experts in their field over many decades. I love the way they keep up with technology, offering patients the latest advances in eye care. I trust the care I receive and the doctors take the time to understand what is gong on with each patiwnt. I dont feel rushed like I do at other medical facilities. Dr. Henderson is top in his field and Dr. Prosise is not far behind him. Great people, great service, great care.

If I could give a four and one half stars, I would. First time with Dr. Henderson and this clinic, and I found him professional, competent and efficient. His staff was courteous and knowledgeable. The facilities are laid out for quite a workload of clients. The half star loss in my rating stemmed from having to wait for a room to become available and then an additional wait for equipment to become available. Possibly, they made too many appointments for that day. I intend to return and would highly recommend Eye Clinic.
