30 March 2016 Jeffrey Failey The Body Center 224 North Indian Hill Road Claremont, CA 91711 RE: Formal Demand for Reimbursement of $700.00 Stolen from my wallet at your location on February 3, 2016 Dear Mr. Farley: In compliance with the Small Claims protocols of the Superior Court of the City of Los Angeles, I am writing to demand immediate payment of $700.00, comprising reimbursement of the $140.00 unlawfully removed from my wallet at The Body Center on Wednesday, February 3, 2016, plus additional compensation. As I indicated to you when we met on Monday, March 21, 2016, I arrived for my February 3 physical therapy and found that my wallet kept slipping out of my pants during therapy. Paul, your employee, offered to hold my wallet while I underwent physical therapy. I was hesitant and told him that I had money in the wallet because I was travelling the next day to Mexico. I did not want my wallet left anywhere unsecured. Paul assured me that he would personally watch over my possessions. After leaving The Body Center, I discovered that $140.00 was missing from my wallet. Because I was on my way to Mexico, I notified you by e-mail, suggesting that you might review your security cameras to determine if they were able to catch anything in regards to my missing money. I also said that I would follow-up with you when I returned in a month. When I was back in California, I attempted to contact you by phone. Your receptionists acted as if they were not willing to pass my information on to you and my messages were not returned. It was not until after my March 21 appointment that you were on site at The Body Center and I was able to speak with you. At that time, you said that there was nothing you could do, although you offered to be more vigilant in your operations. Unsatisfied with your response, I consulted with the Police Department in the City of Claremont and filed a report regarding this incident. Should you not resolve this matter by providing me with payment within ten days from receipt of this correspondence, my next step will be to file a claim with the Superior Court of the City of Los Angeles for the amount of the missing money plus court costs and damages, based upon from the additional expenses I incurred attempting to replace those funds while in Mexico.
